The guy also claimed he was trapped in his EV, screaming and running out of air. That was BS as well. Absolutely no reason why he couldn't have got a takeout and carried out a review.

Getting evicted from an establishment is just as much a validation of their poor quality as being allowed to endure their food and rating it after. Both result in avoid at all costs :)

Surely filming their food would give them more customers as other people would then try them. Ridiculous decision but their loss and you went to the best chippy in my opinion. Their bbq sauce is absolutely gorgeous. Me and my partner went there back in august and it was fantastic. Definitley worth the half an hour walk

I’m a born and bred Australian who also spent 3 months touring England and Wales, sight seeing (amazing!) and trying your fish and chips and of course local hand-drawn beers.
So my comments may be a little different, if not interesting!
In Australia we think we have the best seafood in the World, and we may, however the battered fish in England is World class.
You’ve been doing it for longer than we’ve been colonised by you guys after all!
When we order fish and chips, we get battered or crumbed fish (fo you guys crumb (bread) fish? I prefer it!) hot chips with either salt or the most popular “chicken salt” (which nowdays has nothing to do with chicken- it is a seasoned salt), a wedge of lemon and hopefully some tartare sauce.
But you guys put on a full spread!
You turn one meal into a feast!
Fish, chips, salt, vinegar, tartare, mushy peas, curry sauce and buttered bread!
That’s like 3 different meals in Australia, so I was interested to see how you combined them all.
We rarely offer mushy peas. Sometimes on a meat pie. But it’s not popular.
Funny thing is I don’t like peas, but I absolutely LOVE mushy peas!
I wish we were offered it more!
We also never get buttered bread, or plain bread with fish and chips.
To us that would be really weird.
BUT we do put hot chips on buttered bread as a sandwich, so you guys doing that separate meal as part of fish and chips is pure genius!
We also don’t put vinegar on our hot chips.
Our best selling chips (crisps) could be salt and vinegar flavour, but for us, if we put liquid vinegar on hot chips it will make them soggy- as it showed while you ate them. There we differ because we love hot chips that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
A soggy chip in Australia goes to the seagulls or the bin.
With your curry sauce, that’s an interesting one.
Similarly we love gravy with our chips, but typically with a steak or Schnitzel.
Gravy on chips with seafood would be weird to us.
All in all, I think if we ordered those fish and chips here in Australia, firstly we wouldn’t know how to combine them but if we did it your way we would be blown away!
Just hold the liquid vinegar on hot chips (that’s a crime deserving at least 2 years) and swap out the curry sauce for gravy, and for us it would be a winner. And more mushy peas please!
Oh and drinks….
Typically British you drink a hot beverage of tea.
In a cold climate I understand, but we’d have a beer with fish and chips every day!

Ps I would definitely say that illegal Indian immigrants took over Dave’s chippy and are riding off his good name and serve out garbage. It happens here too, all to common.

I love a sandwich with just the mushy peas and red sauce. As for Daves chippy 🤔🤔🤔🤔always go with your gut instinct if something doesn't seem right it's probably not.

Racial slurs against people from India are not particularly original or interesting.
I am confused Mac when you say excellent 'value for money'. At 16.50 that would be regarded as very expensive in the UK. Local chippy's here cost between £8-£9 for a massive portion of Fish and Chips and about a quid each for mushy peas and curry sauce. I thought Benidorm was cheap and cheerful. The most expensive sit down fish supper i have had was in Cromer in Norfolk at a very expensive £13.50.
I went to Ray's 2 in September after watching Lee's original vlog. The batter WAS lovely, si were the chips and everything was good value for money. I would recommend too! Nice to see you vin there again. Went to Dave's Chippy a few times the first time we went to Benidorm in 2019. Last time we went (2022) it must have changed hands, as it wasn't so good, so didn't ho back this year.
Way back in the early 60's you could get a plate of peas and vinegar in our local pub every Friday for about a shilling ( 5 pence ) didn't need salt, just vinegar.
I almost always watch this channel 1st thing in the morning before breakfast as well. Looking at those chips my mouth is drawing absolutely beautiful. I’ll be having my Weetabix in a minute, thinking about what to have for lunch, great video as always

We used to go here up until a few years ago when the portion size was reduced but the price stayed the same. The same people run the chippy in the square where they provide for the drunken hoards till the early hours of the morning. You can’t beat Rays 2 where we are regulars 15 weeks of the year.
Wow! that fish and chips at Rays just looks so good, and the batter just looks the business. As for Dave's, maybe I would of just tried and get a takeaway, just to see what it was like. Their loss.

In the 50s and 60 s in Glasgow Gallowgate there was muscle and whelk shops which also sold cartons of peas very popular with the Punters coming out of the pubs after a bevvy session it was either muscles whelks or peas with lashings of Vinegar .

my local chip shop that i had been going to since the mid 70's was always a traditional chippy it got took over and they started selling kababs and all that stuff and the fish was oblong you could tell that it was pre packed rubbish never been again that was 10 years ago

Chip shops with massive diversified menus always worry me. I prefer a fish & chip shop to just do fish/pie/sausage and chips. As my grandad used to say, you can do a bit of good, or produce a lot of crap. You can't do everything well.

Well, we all know what they say about places with great big menus in Benidorm, who won't let you film and say they are a chip shop and then sell pizzas............
If they called it Ali's fish n chips maybe they would get less custom, I'd definitely avoid the place
If you went to daves chippy you would never have met that lovely couple, had a laugh and had those beautiful fish and chips at rays for the second time.....some things are meant to be macmaster!
I am not English but I love fish and chips years ago I used to work in a fish and chips shop and I miss it a lot.
In the Wigan they ask are you putting on a plate when you get home if you say yea they out peas on the bottom fish then chips on top so when you put it on your plate it’s the right way up, not all of them but one in shevington Wigan 😅

Hmm you are right to be dubious. OK it is the owner's right to forbid filming on their property but their attitude wasn't welcoming at a very quiet time of day and their menu seems much too broad for it to be a decent quality joint, even by Benidorm standards. I love f & c but it is understandably difficult to find in UK now, very expensive and not super healthy for oldies like us! The close-ups of your meal had me salivating though.

Was in Dave's' 3 weeks ago. Opted for Sausage & chips which was good for the money. Especially remembered the lady serving as was friendly and polite. Gutted they wouldn't let you film in there.

Hi. You weren't missing much in Daves Chippy. We went there once when we were in apartments . We ordered chicken and chips to take back to the apartment. When we got it back it was swimming in yellow grease. It was disgusting. Never been back since x

That place looks really clean and cared for. Beats me how any fish and chip shop can mess up some basic frying but many do manage to do just that. Where do they source their cod from as it isn't a common fish in the med?
I'm not saying its chinese but they do farm cod and they feed the cod with pig shit?
Wow I am shocked. We went in there back in September and the staff asked us if we would post a like on facebook for them to promote the business. This is the best opportunity they could wish for free publicity???? The food was genuinely fantastic. Such a shame they are behaving like idiots.

I get what your saying about a place that does kebabs and it does burgers pizzas and fish and chip stuff. Maybe jack of all trades master of none. But in Scotland there are many Italian chippys that as well as all the usual suppers do pizza's as well such as Enzo's in Bishopton, Luigis in Greenock to name two. And of course in Scotland all chippys do the deep fried pizza suppers. Those establishments to use the pun are a different kettle of fish. And can't be compared to the kebab one's.

Just got back from Benners yesterday after a great fortnight with family, thought i saw you on the prom one day lol I tried Rays one night absolutely amazing food, tried a few places marionos , grand national , JJs is minging whats happened? yorkshire prides are shut as they cannot get the staff apparantly but I've had some Indian food in my life but the curry I had in the CURRY LEAF next time your there please go there , i doesnt open until 7pm but guarrantied youll be blown away went 3 times ...wow

Not sure about you version of a chip butty but that batter looked fabulous and you could hear a nice crunch. The chips looked nice and golden and fluffy on the inside what more could you want. I'll bet Dave's batter is soggy 🤣

You need to try some white pepper (has to be white though) on your chips and mushy peas with salt and vinegar… Takes it to a whole new level!!

I think that you should change the butty order. Try this... 1st get your peas place on the bread and do a complete pea spread over the bread then then a row of chips then the fish above the chips. Now you pause and think what sauce to put on it, but it will need to go over the chips. Then the fold and press movement to finish. YUM.
Well done for respecting the other chip shop and not filming 👍 you still got a good video out of it, just a different one from the one you were expecting.
I think the best clue is the word 'Halal' on the menu! Daves have just taken over our local chippy with disastrous results - quality down the u-bend, no clue how to fry fish or chips properly and a practically empty shop at tea-time opening .... pity.
