One of the best sampler tutorials on the UA-cam space! Cheers! But I have one query regarding sampler.. I am making changes using sampler. but on pushing the changes to playlist.. the changes disappear.
Yes! The changes actually only exist in the "sampler channel". Audio tracks in the playlist can't exist in a sampler channel. Instead, they open up as "Audio Channels". So, when you drag to the playlist, FL Studio is basically taking the raw unaffected audio file out of the sampler channel and opening it in a new Audio Channel. There's not really an easy way to export with the effects and have that dropped straight to the playlist. If anybody else knows otherwise, then I hope they let us know lol. I generally just add a step to the step sequencer, put the pattern in question into the playlist, and then right click that track and click consolidate. Which in turn gives me the exported audio file that contains all the changes.
That would be helpful as a toggle in the settings. I’m assuming the reason they set it up like this is to free up resources and keep the app running as smooth as it can.
Wow, thank you so much for this tutorial, it's pretty informative and helpful! 🙏 Quick question: when using one shot samples like claps, kicks, 808s, etc. and playing them in piano roll, is it better to leave stretch mode to Resample or Stretch?
You generally get more artifacts with stretching which may or may not be preferred. Hats are often so short that I’ll do stretch. I generally don’t mind the artifacts with hats. Claps, kicks, etc. I usually just leave to resample unless I’m going for something extreme. As for 808’s it depends. I often don’t like the artifacts I get when stretching an 808 but sometimes I do stretch when my notes aren’t traveling too far or for specific reasons like long note lengths which shorten on resample mode when going to high notes.
@@ScaleAudio Thank you so much for the reply! I've been struggling with this for some time and this is very helpful, you are awesome! Maybe it's a bit much, but if you find the time, some advice on how to mix 808/kick and clap/snare hitting at the same time would be really appreciated. Transients go wild at that moment and I don't know how to tame it. This is also driving me crazy for quite some time 😂
@@bocky777 honestly. Picking and choosing with your arrangement is huge for me. If I can avoid stacking them I do. A buss compressor or 2 could also help tame that before it gets limited at the master. very nice, is there any way to have the sampler open a preset of settings autoatically (e.g envelope) every time i load a new sound? I'm sick of deselecting use loop point for all my new sounds
That is a very good question. I know you can click the arrow on the top left of the sampler and choose "save channel state as" out of the dropdown options. This saves all of the options you change in the sampler and can be loaded from the browser on the left under the folder for channel presets. The only issue is that it also saves the sample itself. So you cant apply the settings without erasing the other audio file in the sampler. Alos, this saves the settings, however, I don't know any options for making the settings like "loop points" default for every load. I'll look a little further and let you know if I find anything.
There is default folders you can add samples and midi to in FL. But honestly it would probably be easier to create and organize your own folders, and then add them to the browser on the left. Check out around 6:27 on the video below to see an example of adding your own folder to FL. ua-cam.com/video/_I47D_aMuSM/v-deo.html As for .dll. That’s going to be a plug-in that you’ll want to drop into one of the many default plug-in folders. You can also create new plug-in file paths using the plug-in manager. Nice Video. But one qustion. Under Playback i can change start offset, but how can i loop the sample and change the end offset then? i want to create the Swedish House Mafia Sound with a bassdrum. Can u help?
Sorry for the late response! If you just want to cut the end, I would say to use an envelope, however, if you want the sound to actually loop using loop points, I would say to use the Edison audio editor in order to cut and set those points.
18:52 Is this the same as FLT ENV on FL Studio Mobile? Because I wanna make sure my 808’s is not clashing and that they cut, But I don’t see a Hold. Only Attack, Sustain, Decay, and Release. Does the Hold matter?
If you hold a note down then the hold will keep it playing either until you release the note or the duration of the hold value is reached. Then and only then will the envelope move into the sustain decay and release. If you have no hold it most likely just follows the attack sustain decay release without the option for holding for long periods before the envelope proceeds. I don’t really use mobile but I’ve been planning on giving it a go.
@@ScaleAudio Thank you so much. FL Studio Mobile is pretty convenient in my opinion. Just doesn’t have vst’s and the mixing isn’t too complex like like FL studio as I want it to be. God Bless on your music journey sir.

I believe that’s how they programmed it. I believe the audio clip only pops up when you double click audio that has been dropped directly into the playlist rather than a pattern. With that said, sadly, audio directly in the playlist opens only in an audio clip and not in a sampler. You’ll probably have to open the channel rack first to get to the sampler channel.

see my that does not come up no more the Sampler setting???? . the channel setting on lt pops up when i do that .Do you think because its a different version🤔🤔🤨😮💨..any way to get to the Samplersetting???This annoying ..Blahhhh.lol
If you’re missing settings, you might have an audio channel open instead of a sampler channel. In FL Studio, if you drag audio to the playlist, it opens in an audio channel by default. If you drag audio into the step sequencer/channel rack, it opens in a sampler channel by default. Both the audio channel and sampler channel are practically identical. The only difference is that one is missing a bunch of settings. If you have the audio open in an audio channel all ready, you can actually right click the wave file at the bottom of the audio channel and click “open in new sampler channel”. Hope this was all helpful 🤙
Your volume envelope should have a short sustain, decent, and release and a long hold. The hold only works while you hold the note down. Soon as you let the note go it should stop. If you want decay on it you can always customize the sustain, decent, and release to give it a decay.
Unsure what you’re asking. You can uncheck the loop option to turn a loop off. Not sure how to make it off every time it’s opened. And as for it being too short you can’t add much to a sound. Could try a short but dense reverb? I’m not sure how you’d remedy that.
If you click the sample in the Channel Rack (also known as step sequencer), it should just pop up. If it doesn't, it may be minimized somewhere. If on the other hand, you are saying that a screen does pop up, however, it is not the same menu settings, then you will want to ensure you loaded your sample into the Channel Rack and not the Playlist. Samples in the Playlist will have less settings available in comparison to samples loaded in the Channel Rack. You may also have different settings options if you load a VST or Native FL plugin rather than a sample. Let me know if any of this info is helpful or if I am completely left field in comparison to what you are talking about.
You most likely dragged your 808’s directly into the playlist which opens them in an audio channel instead of a sampler channel. Pretty much the same exact thing except the audio channel is missing the envelope tab and a few other things. You’ll want to drop your 808 into the channel rack or right click it in your audio channel and click open with sampler channel.
Question:- i cant find answer on youtube as far i research. I am trying to cut a sample and use that sample as on piano role just like on a keyboard (shifting on all notes). But every time i cut a sample and try its keep playing the same note no matter which key i use. Some sample i accidentally created which playing with the note i am pressing. Which setting makes to play on the piano according to the key note i am pressing and what makes play same sample regardless which key note i press. Example: A) if i choose a loop point (single shot note) and i want it (single shot note loop) to play on the keyboard piano role according to the note i am pressing. B) if i cut a sample one shot note or loop point. When i play its keep playing same note regardless which key i am pressing on the piano role. ?Where are those settings which making these changes. According to the note i am playing or playing same note regardless which note i am pressing on the piano role?
Did you ever find a solution for this? If you go to "Time stretching" on the top right of the first page of the fruity sampler channel, you'll want to check and make sure that the time knob is set to none. If you do in fact want to keep the time knob where it is at, change the mode to stretch. Sorry for such a late response, let me know if this helps!
You could grab the audio file and drag it to the channel rack to open it in a new sampler. Besides that, you can reset knobs by right clicking them and choosing "reset".
It's very possible you are using an audio wrapper from dropping the sample directly into the playlist rather than into the Channel Rack. If you did in fact drop the sample into the Channel Rack and still have this issue, what version of FL Studio do you have?
@@TheMoonnightRabbit Very possible it wasn't included in FL studio 12. It has been a long time since I have used that version so I cannot confirm that this would be the case; However, it would be a fair assumption.
Damn i still have a question that i didnt see anwered. Can someone help please?? i thought it was an envelope setting but i didnt see it but if i send multiple samples to FPC pads, that i can tap the pad and have it Sustain until i hit the next pad. Right now i have to hold the pad down which makes it difficult to hit the next pad on time. Thanks!
I wish I knew! Did you find a solution? If not, here's a link to the official user manual page for the FPC plugin. Not sure if it contains what you are looking for, but it has A LOT of info! www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/plugins/FPC.htm
You forgot to mention, that this sampler doesn't use realtime adsr envelopes, hence degrading samples at low frequencies and short decay settings. This was confirmed by FL team as well.
Reposting your link since it got dropped by the spam filter for my videos. Looks like it blocked you from commenting anymore as well which is kind of lame. forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=293279
This is dope and makes so much sense.. av noticed severally that the quality drops and also that it wasn't just a volume thing, sometimes I use playlist clips, but I'm mostly used to making beats/ loops in the channel rack as it's so much quicker, effortless and neater IMO, having a confirmation is really nice
Bit rate of the project doesn't really exist in FL Studio. The final bit rate will be whatever bit rate you export the project as. FL Studio will handle any audio file at any bit rate individually and then re-samples on export. Let me know if you have any questions!
@@ScaleAudio but still we can set the bit rate for audio sound card ! This bit rate îs a very interesting to know how software deals cause îs the big mistake to do! Resample îs the Boghești mistake without knowing jt îs loterry ! Well who can i ask the manufacturier codes of fl engine ?

@@freestyletherapy Hey thanks. and thank you for watching and engaging. I may not have all the answers but if you ever have any questions feel free to ask.
So you most likely have an audio clip instead of a sampler channel. They are literally identical besides a few features like the envelope and a few other things. Audio clips are opened by default for anything that’s dropped into the playlist, sampler channels are opened by default for anything dropped into the channel rack. If you have an audio clip you want to open in a sampler channel you have to open the audio clip interface and right click the waveform at the bottom. After that you should see the option for “open in new sampler channel” in the drop down.
If by double mono you mean one instrument is playing in one channel and another is playing in the other, you could use the fruity stereo shaper plugin. It will allow you to completely turn down the right channel and then add the left channel in its place. Is this what you mean?
@@ScaleAudio Could be a option too.just to clarify some aspects of what i Intend to write here.Lets imagine we were on a rec or composition sesion and we deșire to record mono tracks not stereo ,also to compose mono tracks not stereo ! @@tudorgheorghe4532 Gotchya, so you want to export a stereo project to mono and not lose data. If that’s the case, I would mono the master in the mixer while you work on your project. Your mono export will always sound different than the stereo project, especially with bass and other instruments that introduce phasing problems. There’s no foolproof conversion from stereo to mono without facing problems. You’re better off listening to the track in mono as you make it -or- using all mono plugins/instruments.
@@ScaleAudio well i Was nt refair to that ! Only to mono export while in producing stage ! Im fan and great believe of working as old time while recordings only in mono. But todays people forget about mono and ușe only mono or worse double mono !!!! Îs much to explain ....It s called point source direction and resolution since there îs great diference between mono tracks ,double mono and stereo !Also fl mixer does nt convince me about realise those important things ! In the old Times where nt such phase alterațion gear Like todays vst Times and frankly they do much harm then good cause balance îs not panning !!! Fl needs to rezolve much issues there ! I ve conducted several testa over the versions and because of lack of fully understanding their conceputs i Could nt Mark solid conclusions....
@@tudorgheorghe4532 FL studio does not differentiate because mono output on a stereo system is double mono. There is no single channel mixer channels in FL Studio. All dual channel. You are asking for something not accounted for in FL Studio because mono output is dual mono on a stereo system. Therefore it’s represented in dual mono which is really just mono. If you switched dual mono into a mono signal you would get no difference because they generate the exact same output on a mono or stereo system. If they are not playing the same output then it’s not true dual mono, it’s stereo. In which case your exports will sound different.

Quick question: How do I make my sample (808) cut off when I want it to be instead of continuing to play the rest of the sample?
Your volume envelope should have a short sustain, decent, and release and a long hold. The hold only works while you hold the note down. Soon as you let the note go it should stop. If you want decay on it you can always customize the sustain, decent, and release to give it a decay.
HELP ! Some Rim shot was too short , they automatically turn on the loop point everytime
Unsure what you’re asking. You can uncheck the loop option to turn a loop off. Not sure how to make it off every time it’s opened. And as for it being too short you can’t add much to a sound. Could try a short but dense reverb? I’m not sure how you’d remedy that.
Sample showing red in waveform just like being selected .when I dragged in to sampler
@@kasuzii Under playback you’ll want to turn off “use loop points”
At 1:14 how’d u bring up that menu mine doesn’t appear
HELP!! for my 808s i dont see the Envelope tap how do i fix this
You most likely dragged your 808’s directly into the playlist which opens them in an audio channel instead of a sampler channel. Pretty much the same exact thing except the audio channel is missing the envelope tab and a few other things. You’ll want to drop your 808 into the channel rack or right click it in your audio channel and click open with sampler channel.
27:05 Add to Key
Question:- i cant find answer on youtube as far i research. I am trying to cut a sample and use that sample as on piano role just like on a keyboard (shifting on all notes). But every time i cut a sample and try its keep playing the same note no matter which key i use. Some sample i accidentally created which playing with the note i am pressing. Which setting makes to play on the piano according to the key note i am pressing and what makes play same sample regardless which key note i press.
Example:
A) if i choose a loop point (single shot note) and i want it (single shot note loop) to play on the keyboard piano role according to the note i am pressing.
@@ScaleAudioomg. You are awesome. Yes it works 😮. You are awesome. Thats what i have been try to find the setting. Thank you so much ✊.
thank you
Happy to be of assistance, thank you for dropping a comment!
how do you reset the sampler settings to default ?
You could grab the audio file and drag it to the channel rack to open it in a new sampler. Besides that, you can reset knobs by right clicking them and choosing "reset".
Thx 🎉
You bet! I appreciate seeing you around on my channel and I hope life is treating yo well friend 🤙
I dont have the SMP Start and the length option in my sampler. Is this because I'm using the version or do I need to download a plugin?
It's very possible you are using an audio wrapper from dropping the sample directly into the playlist rather than into the Channel Rack. If you did in fact drop the sample into the Channel Rack and still have this issue, what version of FL Studio do you have?
I have the FL Studio 12, 32 bit@@ScaleAudio
@@TheMoonnightRabbit Very possible it wasn't included in FL studio 12. It has been a long time since I have used that version so I cannot confirm that this would be the case; However, it would be a fair assumption.
@@ScaleAudio In that case, I will try to switch to the latest version of FL Studio. Thank you

Not sure if it contains what you are looking for, but it has A LOT of info!

i DID actually, they are referred to as "cut groups". Your vid helped me narrow down the solution
Thank you I'm your new subscribe
Thanks for subscribing 🤙 happy to help!
You forgot to mention, that this sampler doesn't use realtime adsr envelopes, hence degrading samples at low frequencies and short decay settings. This was confirmed by FL team as well.
Sick, if you could drop some links that’d be awesome. I didn’t find anything on Google and I’ve never heard that before (not saying your wrong).
Reposting your link since it got dropped by the spam filter for my videos. Looks like it blocked you from commenting anymore as well which is kind of lame.

This is dope and makes so much sense.. av noticed severally that the quality drops and also that it wasn't just a volume thing, sometimes I use playlist clips, but I'm mostly used to making beats/ loops in the channel rack as it's so much quicker, effortless and neater IMO, having a confirmation is really nice
love how in-depth you teach but you need to show examples it's tough to follow just imagining what you are explaining without examples.
Appreciate the feedback! Thanks for the comment!

How to set bit rate of our project session?😊
Bit rate of the project doesn't really exist in FL Studio. The final bit rate will be whatever bit rate you export the project as. FL Studio will handle any audio file at any bit rate individually and then re-samples on export. Let me know if you have any questions!
@@ScaleAudio but still we can set the bit rate for audio sound card ! This bit rate îs a very interesting to know how software deals cause îs the big mistake to do! Resample îs the Boghești mistake without knowing jt îs loterry ! Well who can i ask the manufacturier codes of fl engine ?
is it possible to use sampler in playlist samples any way?
I wish. If I want to dump to the playlist with sampler channel edits I usually live record the sample.
@@ScaleAudio I would like all pattern features to be included in the playlist.
@@breiskapenthouston9674 Sorry for the late response. I'm not 100% sure what you mean. When you refer to the pattern features what features specifically are you referring to? and how do you want them included in the playlist?
@@ScaleAudio Well i mean that i wish it was possible to use all of those pattern features in playlist and get rid of the pattern system.
@@breiskapenthouston9674 awweee I think I gotchya. Like remove the step sequencer all together and add it to the playlist so you don’t have to switch pages and paste patterns etc?

I'm trying to use tracking to humanize the arpeggiator but I don't hear a difference. Still using FL11.
I was mistaken in my first comment which I deleted. Make sure your tracking is set to key not vol.
Then move your mid point. And if your using your x y check the filter you have chosen in the envelope/instrument settings.
@@ScaleAudio Thank you, I hear it now, don't know what the problem was before, maybe because I was using vst drums, but I hear it now that I tried what you've said with a sample. Keep up the good work, digging the channel.
@@freestyletherapy Hey thanks. and thank you for watching and engaging. I may not have all the answers but if you ever have any questions feel free to ask.
@@ScaleAudio You're welcome, will do. After watching this video, I think I'm going to give FL 20.9, so I'll probably have plenty of questions. Thanks
help!! i dont see the envelope in my sample channel
Sorry for the late response btw! Was a long workday!
@@ScaleAudio yea thanks i figured it out like a couple mins ago after texting that lol but thats so much too for the info
@@erzascarlet4784 you bet! Glad you got it 💪 feel free to reach out if you ever have any other questions!
How can we make a double mono sample to a mono sample like suppose to be in the channel rack ?
If by double mono you mean one instrument is playing in one channel and another is playing in the other, you could use the fruity stereo shaper plugin. It will allow you to completely turn down the right channel and then add the left channel in its place.
Is this what you mean?
@@ScaleAudio Could be a option too.just to clarify some aspects of what i Intend to write here.Lets imagine we were on a rec or composition sesion and we deșire to record mono tracks not stereo ,also to compose mono tracks not stereo ! Cause stereo does nt exist in real life since mono îs one point source and stereo îs 2 point sources!!!! To record mono i know very well !to export mono i know very well .But Please understand thats a great fundamental diference about how software decoding engine Handle all these stuff.Lets imagine i Have a stereo by manufacturier bat plugin but i want to export mono tracks only lets Say there îs a base guitar v s t ! Well after rendering / bounce / freeze etc. Will sound totaly new not the way we ve programed initially !!! Did You understand this ? Șo we can ușe only mono compatibility vst that Have this feature as Burton inside of IT ! Or fake IT using phase alterațion If there îs a stereo vst by manufacturier. How fl engine deals this stuff îs keept mistery to me !!! Can You Please explain this to me ?
