    Thanks for the review. I had the link pulled up on amazon but closed out and clicked back on your link to buy it.
    I was planning to pair it up with a 5 foot rod also so this review was perfect.

    this review helped so much! Keep up the good work on the reviews, I'm gonna pick this one up but using it more for ultralight set up for trout fishing rivers and ponds. I have the kastking braid line on my kastking spartacus bait caster for bass.....thinking about putting on some 2-4 pound mono on this one. what are your thoughts on that?

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      David, thanks so much for the feedback! I'm glad this helped. I think you're on the right path with some good quality 4 pound mono. Should cast really well and still be easy to tie. If you do decide to go with braid, I wouldn't go lower than 10 pound. I tried 6 pound on this reel and found it too flimsy. 10 pound Kastking braid is perfect for my setup.

    Great informative review. I’m looking at this reel for a ultralight trout setup. Do you think you would gain casting distance with say a 4lb mono line? Again, I’m hooking small trout (7-12”) and won’t need a 10lb braid. My only reservation about an ultralight setup is loosing casting distance. Thank you!

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Honestly, 10# braid is about as low as I like to go. I tried 6# for a while, and did not see enough of a difference to justify it being harder to cut cleanly, and much harder to tie. Thanks for watching!

    I am looking to get a rod/reel setup for crappie and bream fishing. I am looking at the ACC 8ft Crappie green rod which cost about $49 and pair it with the Centron 500. Do you think this would be a good combo?

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  3 роки тому

      I'm not a crappie fisherman, but looking at that long, light rod setup, I would imagine the Centron 500 would work perfectly. As long as you feel it has enough line capacity for your fishing areas, it should be a fantastic setup for you! Thanks for watching!

    Hey, would like to get this reel to use for my float setup, just a light setup to catch the summer roaches and occasionaly a bream or perhaps even a small carp, what are your thoughts on that? And what line would you suggest? Thx :)

      This is a great option for ultralight and lightweight rigs. I use 10# Kastking braid on mine and it performs very well, with awesome sensitivity. I've hooked into 3-4 pound black bass and the reel performed like a dream - and that's a heck of a fight on ultralight! I believe it will work well for you. @@qwertymusic8417 I am coming up on 2 years of owning this reel, and it's my main go-to for freshwater fishing. It's held up remarkably well for any reel, especially one at this price point. I would certainly recommend it.

      Assuming you're targeting typical freshwater species, I'd recommend 15-20 lb braid. You can get a lot on the reel, and it should hold up to most species. Thanks for watching!

    Do kastking braid come in 2 4 or 6 pound braid?

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  2 роки тому

      The Kastking braid does come in 6 pound - amzn.to/30Eu4uk
      I've tried it out, and honestly, I feel the 10 pound works just as well and is much easier to cut and tie. Thanks for watching!

    I’m just starting to get into ultralight fishing, what is the difference between a 2000 size reel and a 500 size?

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  3 роки тому

      The 500 size is about as close as you can get to a true "ultralight" reel. It holds less line than the 2000 size, but it is much smaller and lighter, and pairs well with an ultralight rod. The 2000 size would be more for your typical freshwater fishing with a standard rod. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  4 роки тому

      I use mine for freshwater only, but I do believe it can handle salt water if you rinse it well with fresh water afterward. I use other Kastking reels in the salt, and they do very well.

    • @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
      @TheGoodeLifeOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      I've not tried mine in saltwater, but I do believe most Kastking reels can handle saltwater, assuming you rinse them in fresh water after use. I wouldn't completely submerge this reel in the salt, but I imagine it would do ok.

    *I liked how smooth the reel spins with the 12 bearing system it is like butter. **allabout.wiki/y8n4** this is a somewhat easy reel to use but would not recommend starting on a bait caster. The reel is priced well and is great quality highly recommend*
