Go back & pick up The Ladykillers. It is a fantastic British black comedy. Great characters, novel premise, superb actors giving it their all. One of my favorites!
Thanks for the rec, Will. We'll have to go back and see if it's still there
I’ve gotten several KL titles from the sale! I picked up The Rose Tattoo and The Country Girl on blu-ray; and then Brokeback Mountain, The Killing, Serpico, Murder on the Orient Express, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Cry-Baby, Touch of Evil, and Brick on 4K!
The Ladykillers is a must - jet black humour at its best (it looks fantastic in 4K)
I wish our Barnes & Noble was still like this. Ours used to be, but now all the physical media is on one shelf that's mixed together.
Primal fear the only paramount presents I own for now such a great film
The Tin Star in the 50% clearance! Grab that Western gem. 🤩
Holy crap! Henry Fonda, Anthony Perkins, and Anthony Mann. I'm sold!
Gah, that Manchurian cover is so clean.
The in store vids are always a treat. Love those Barnes & Nobles sales. Kino Lorber's releases can be barebones (even with the slipcovers), but they are consistently one of the most affordable. More than that, Kino Lorber puts out an incredible range of movies. Those Paramount Presents look incredible. I have "Last Train From Gun Hill" (a John Sturges film) from that line but that's my only one so far.
@JefferyEPetrone I do love the fact, though, that almost all Kino Lorber releases include an audio commentary.
@@kevinhouse4376 same, absolutely. They put out good stuff.
Primal Fear and the 1955 version of The Ladykillers are very good movies.
Ladykillers is a fun movie, definitely recommend grabbing it. And if you like it, then "The Lavendar Hill Mob" & "Kind Hearts and Coronets" are two more great Alec Guinness movies to check out.
Cool. Thanks for all the recs. I didn't realize Alec Guinness was in Kind Hearts and Coronets. I need to finally watch that
American Gigolo still holds up. This was the film that got me int Blondie…Call Me 🎶
Oh cool. How do you think it stacks up against Paul Schrader's other movies?
I enjoy your videos! I love movies like u do!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the videos
THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS is another Schrader movie on Criterion that's good.
Dang! Now I gotta make my way to Barnes and Noble to buy more flicks. Great video
Thanks, man! Good luck hunting!
Pick up American gigolo when you get a chance great movie fantastic music score you’ll love it
I really enjoy your videos especially the blu-ray hunting trips. That $60 price on the American Gigolo 4k is quite expensive. Amazon has the same American Gigolo 4k for $28.69 after the 30% coupon is appled. Quite a difference in price.
I’m subscribed 👍🏻👍🏻
There is indeed a 4k blu-ray version of The LadyKillers by Kino Lorber. Amazon has it for $19.99 (which is the lowest price in 30 days) This price is as on Thursday morning, October 17.
Excellent finds Bringing out the dead is fantastic and i think abit underrated. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
It definitely seems underrated. You're the only one to bring it up in the comments. I wonder if that's because it's been so hard to get on physical for so long
Love these hauls!
Thanks! We love making 'em!
Didnt know barnes and noble were selling kino lober.gonna have to check out my local b&n.
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is a really good Clint Eastwood film
I'm motivated to see it because it's a Clint Eastwood AND Jeff Bridges movie. I missed it on Tubi but hope to watch it soon.
Great video, DJ and Grace. I agree with those who spoke highly of Primal Fear and The Ladykillers. Edward Norton is especially great in Primal Fear. And while you were discussing other films in the store, I noticed a copy of 1979's "The Changeling" on the shelf. It's a really good ghost story starring George C. Scott and his wife, Trish Van Devere.
Oh wow, that sounds like a great movie to watch this time of year. I might have to pick that one up eventually. Looks like Severin has a nice release of it
Congrats on breaking 5K subscribers. Remember when I told you would quickly get a thousand subscribers, and it happened so quickly. Great picks as always. Haven't seen BRINGING OUT THE DEAD. I loved PRIMAL FEAR, this film which was his debut put Edward Norton on the map. I also second the recommendation of picking up THE LADYKILLERS unless you're waiting for Criterion's upgrade (unlikely). You mentioned noticing some slipcoverless releases, this seems to confirm the "theft" problem with B&N, since I alerted you about that other Georgia store not stocking Criterion and Arrow releases. At least you guys have Criterion and Arrow releases in your store. So, it sounds like that store is a single B&N store withdrawing the releases. Good Luck and happy viewing.
Thanks, Henry! And thanks for hanging around since before we had 1K subs. Always appreciate your comments
Primal Fear is a great courtroom drama / thriller with a stellar cast.
Hope you enjoy!
nice selection. our local barnes and nobles are slim pickings
Yeah most of ours have nonexistent media sections. This is one of the last ones. Hopefully it lasts
Primal Fear is good. Very 90’s ending.
I forgot about Schrader's CAT PEOPLE and Brian DePalma's OBSESSION, co-written with Paul Schrader. They're both on Scream Factory.
ur b&n has my jaw on the grounddddd????? i have 2 b&n i go to within 45 minutes from me and BOTH only have a single, sad, display shelf that only holds at max like 20 dvds 😭😭😭
Ah sorry, Keith. I hate the state Barnes & Noble media sections are in. This is one of the last decent ones we have around here
HARDCORE, BLUE COLLAR, PATTY HEARST, AUTOFOCUS and MISHIMA are Paul Schrader movies worth picking up
Thanks for the list! I've been wondering where to start. I'll be on the lookout for Mishima in the November sale
American Gigolo is one you need for your collection. Richard Gere at his best.
Good to know. We may have to make another visit
My favorite Paul Schrader movie is Light Sleeper. Keep an eye out for it.
Thanks for the rec, David. Looks like indicator has a nice release of it. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one on ebay.
You should be ordering from kino there sale is going on tell the 21st you can get invasion of the body Snatchers 4k for $18
I'm so impressed with the quality of your videos DJ. Great job.
Thanks so much!
primal fear is good edward norton outshines richard gere i think
Dollars Trilogy on Kino Lorber is the new 4K restorations. On sale 50% off at Barnes & Noble ($19 each) and at KL site ($23-27 each)
You have a stunning wife, it’s a sunny day and you go to Barnes and Noble to buy movies….
Btw the Barnes and Noble sale is a scam. The Mexico Trilogy for example is $99.99 at B&N . Ofcourse they can offer a 50% discount as its regular price at Arrow’s store is $69.99
I wish my local B&N had movies.... 😥
American Gigolo is good, not 60$ good.
Just found your show.👍 One thing your mic is to close to your throat. Move further down maybe on your shirt. It sounds a little muffled.
What was the version of The Witch i saw in the Arrow clearance section!?
That was just a standard DVD version. Not sure why they put that there
I doubt Arrow would release the Sergio Leone westerns. I wish. But the Kino releases are very good
I've heard it too, I really think it's happening. Curious how they will handle the color grading, since the restoration ones are apparently too yellow and Kino corrected The Good, the Bad.
@@TucoRope2Tight where did you hear it?
the original the ladykillers with peter sellars is good. the remake with tom hanks did not come up to the original
Hold on, you know nothing about creep show? Go back and pick it up. The best horror anthology made. Written by Stephen king, directed by George romero, effects by tom savini
Alright, you sold me. I'll go back and see if it's still there
I have yet to watch a video where he doesn't mention After Hours. 😂 OMG chill with this movie already
hahaha. Never! 😂
Yes, Red Dragon is great, but skip Hannibal that film is a train wreck..
