Favorite Magnus quotes: "I might be a little forgetful." pause... "I am a little forgetful."
"It looked like... Well, it looked like ass."
Thanks for keeping it real and reminding us that even experienced makers have times like this in their projects. 😁

How many of you are self isolating? I have been a fair bit.
Other than the Apocalypse driving me nuts, I really enjoyed making this pouch, though I'm contractually obligated to say that I think.

I’ve been isolating, with husband and 16 yr old, since March 8. Don’t have any idea how I’m going to cover my bills. If I could focus I’m going to do that Viking wallet soon.

Still #HealthyAtHome in KY! Husband is laid off due to factory shutdowns, but governor has moved quickly to approve unemployment for those affected by this. I am able to work from home, which prevents its own challenges. But I am fortunate!

That look awesome as always. I like that you included the mistakes and redo's, it helps show just how much goes in to making your patterns. Also this helps me look more at putting 'gems' or glass into a project, seeing it done there, makes it look way more simple and understandable that it was for me.

You're videos lately have inspired me to get into leather working (now especially that we're all stuck inside) and looking into buying more leather, I've stumbled into grades, cuts and all that stuff. I was wondering if you've done or had plans to do a video going over the different types of leather and cuts, grades and where which leather would be best applicable etc.

6:33 why don’t you use the fibings edge cote for your edges? I have used it for years. To be honest I had never heard of the one you used. But then you did say it was new to the US.

    • @DarkHorseWorkshop

I'm not really sure why I've never bothered with it, just get in that "this works why change" mentality I guess.

    • @RyanReadsStories
      @RyanReadsStories 4 роки тому

      Edge Kote is a paint.
It is primarily used on materials that are difficult to burnish. Like chrome tan.
Since Magnus uses almost exclusively veg tan. Why would he bother?
Wax and gum trag or Tokonole already give you a perfect edge that will never peel or erode the way that edge kote can.

I have some sales on my website. I'm trying to get away from etsy but it's tough. Check out www.darkhorseworkshop.com in the future. I bought that sewing machine when I got a job doing props for Arrow for a bit, it was a necessity. It took me a few years to realize it could tear through all sorts of stuff and not just softer leather.

Sorry he used Etsy not your website 😬 but we will check out direct from your website in future. Keep safe. And thank you.

sorry but not a fan of this video tutorial becuz it does not match the pattern you sell and your video skips steps so quickly. i cant figure out how to hand stitch the back piece and pouch properly as the holes dont line up properly.i wish instead you would make another video using your pattern as u sell and take your time to slow down on the video as certain steps are a fraction of a second which are critical, especially that part where you messed up. again thx for the video, i encourage you to slow the video down or add more time so we can clearly see, so we can follow along better.
