I have been lettering since 2015, and digital lettering since 2020. Even though I have been doing it already for quite a while, these tips are game changing!! Also, I have a question. I love lettering but I usually run out of words or phrases to write about, any tips on finding more inspiration?? Love your vids Laura!

Also, GREAT question! For me, I 'write' or letter about things that are personal to me, so I think about the feelings that I want to communicate and work from that. I always have a notes page on my phone where I can quickly save ideas as they come to me and then refer back to them later when I'm creating. I also find it helpful to have a big brainstorming and journaling session every so often and see what feelings come up, write about them and then create some quotes from that. Hope this help! 💖
I never thought to try this with using my own style, such a simple but useful tip! I’ve tried copying letters in their exact form though lol when I was trying to practice calligraphy
I've actually found that sometimes it's easier to practice with your own style rather than trying to match your tracing exactly to the letter underneath. The text guides are great for helping you keep your lettering straight and uniform but don't be afraid to let your personal flair shine through - it's about playing and practicing and not about perfection! 😊💖
@@LauraJaneIllustrations yesss! I’ll be sure to add in my own personal flair when I try again, I haven’t been in my procreate app in sooo long. I imagine it’ll be a little overwhelming a bit because I’m sure I’ve missed a lot of updates lol
Try reframe how you look at it, instead of lots of overwhelming changes, think of it as lots of new tools to play with! 🙌🏻💖
