When I saw them for the first time it took about a second or two for me to put together what was going on, as they were clearly walking and shaped in a way I knew was familiar but also very different from what Star Wars robots usually do, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, and then it clicked. I wouldn't call it a great start. As far as first episodes go, I thought it was pretty weak. The Mandalorian had a much stronger first episode and they were introducing a new character. I'm sure it'll pick up once the show gets around to actually having a plot instead of relying entirely on Boba's popularity.
@@Gooner184 it was better than the previous episode, but I wish they'd wrap up the "Star Wars meets Dances with Wolves" storyline already and stick to the present day plot.
Boba Fett is getting the recognition he deserves. Is good to learn how he came back from near-death experience from *Return of the Jedi* to seeing him in the present. I'll enjoy this version definitely.
@@Jaden_The_Celestial 1) The series should stand on its own. 2) He has like 5 altrenate histories, and the only one 100% canon is the movies, which we don't know much from. Ok, in Clone Wars he became more cruel.
I believe they are using being in the sarlac pit as a good way to have him injure and scared to look older so that Morrison as he is now fits PERFECTLY into the role. He just brought his voice and natural badass nature along for the ride
I find it hilarious that there's a part of the fandom complaining that the first episode was 'slow' when the whole point was to set up the story and show us just how bad Boba has had it for the past five years. He's not a spry young man anymore and from what we can tell with the constant bacta baths, the Sarlacc has seriously messed him up. I, for one, like seeing him portrayed as so vulnerable and yet still capable of badassery (he certainly was not in the best of conditions when he knocked out the massif or killed the centaur-thing in the desert). And comparing this show to The Mandalorian is flawed from the start since they're not even the same genre (episodic adventure/quest and godfather/mafia). Plus Boba is a very, VERY different character to Din and is intrinsically connected to the Clones so the show will both explore the post-original trilogy era (Tattooine-specific) and have flashbacks to the Prequel triology with maybe even some live-action Clone cameos. All in all, a fantastic start to a new series with a character the fandom has been aching to know more about ever since the Originals came out.
Disagree. This didn't at all do what a first episode needed to do. As much as we all wanted to see how Boba got out of the pit, having seen this episode, I think they should've saved that for a later episode and concerned themselves in this episode with, you know, actually telling a story.
Agree 100% the way they want to show of a lot of answers to what happened to boba really was need for this episode and I don't feel like it was slow I just loved it all
What i like is that a fan was a prophet about how Boba survived: "the gloved Mandalorian Hand of Boba Fett, dug out of the Sand as he pulls himself out of the Dune Sands"
Fun fact, Boba isn't as old as his looks, he is probably in early 40s, as old as Din Jarin. Peopel to think He is old man because the long return of Boba from the original and prequel movie to the mandalorian, but in star wars time line it just only been 5 years from the og movie to the mandalorian.

The best part about them reinventing characters and or bringing them back, is the fact that they've had character growth, or morale and since we last seen them, have grown even further into the character that was loved so much.
I remember reading the 1990s era novel tales of the bountyhunters… The story around Boba Fett and his time in the Sarlacc was always my favorite part of the book. He escapes in a similar fashion in the book - uses his Jetpack to blow a hole in the side of the Sarlacc and then crawls out through the sand.

I never actually needed to know the details of How Boba Fett survived the Sarlacc Pit. I was an old-school Star Wars fan from the long-off time period called the 1980s. We old fans were used to everything about Boba Fett being a mystery. Somehow it made the character more interesting when everything about him was speculation. However, I'm totally OK with this new direction for the character as well.
Really diggin this series, man. Tamura Morrison is perfect for the role! We’re finally getting some good recognition for this character. Yes, I know how savage and brutal he was in the EU novels and comics, but you can’t honestly say he’s not a badass in this show. I love that they’re already giving him such good character development while still making him a hardcore savage. Yes I get that he’s acting more honorable than he was in the novels, but if I had to choose, I’d pick this version better. The Saarlac Pit really did a number on his mind body and soul, and it shows. It makes sense for him to be picked up by the Tuskens (who I’m also glad are also getting more recognition and development. They’ve always been looked upon as these savage uncivilized group of people, but the reality is, they’re just people trying to survive and live on their homeworld.) People can hate on this all they want, but honestly I think they’re just trying to find excuses to cry about Disney owning Star Wars. Did Disney fuck up the sequel trilogy? Oh yeah… yeah they did. But they did really good with Rogue One, good with Clone Wars and Rebels, a fantastic amazing job with the Mandalorian, and a pretty good job with Solo. (It really wasn’t that bad of a movie). All in all, I think Disney just needed some time to work out all the kinks and rough edges they put in the franchise while it was in their hands. But over time, and with proper criticism and patience, Disney has found some really good people to work on these newer projects and so far I haven’t seen any major failures that can compare to TLJ or ROS.
