    I am too much of an amateur to ever sell a horse. Bought and kept until they died. Because to me they could never be considered other than a friend. Which is the reason I am not in the horse business. I still remember the first horse I looked at decades ago and worry about what happened to him. This boy is gorgeous.

    Hi Matt, can you do a video on the business side of the sale horses? I'm curious how much you invest into getting them sale-ready (training, gelding, therapies, etc.) and your return. I think economics is really interesting and could be helpful for those who don't know about the process from start to finish. Love your videos; thank you

    Hey Matt, with your love of andalusian horses you should check out Canadian horses !! I would love to see you do a video where you meet one and learn about the breed, they're not very well know but super versatile. Some similar traits to the andalusians. I believe the queen's favourite horse was a Canadian horse. They're classified as critical as not many are being breed, not many people know about them.

    Kevin is surely keeping it fun for the horse using a bit, chin straps and spurs. You don´t need to stab your horse in their belly ever. You could see Don Letrado trying to get rid of the bit shortly after he was tacked up. The horse looks stressed, unsettled and uncomfortable. He is foaming a lot. I dislike the short reins so does the horse. I don´t care how they do it in Spain. Doesn´t mean you need to do it.
    Very pretty horse.

    Hmmm I think one of the dangers of having xsales horses up on UA-cam is people who are serious will be looking for problems, so it's kind of an invite to think aloud as if you were looking to purchase. Not a bad thing and very honest. First up he is very pretty..........Handsome is as handsome does unfortunately doesn't apply to Equine sport horses, PRE's all look pretty. Second up he doesn't overtrack at all in the walk, varies between no over track, to no overtrack by a mile. Bear in mind the walk is the most difficult pace to change, some say impossible out of the three paces. Spending your life getting the horse relaxed in his frame enough for just overtracking by one hoof print might be all you end up doing. Trot is the easiest to change so even a mediocre one is ok in a very green horse, though an open shoulder is always an asset, however the horse here also dishes (too much for me) in the trot and that you cannot fix, it's unsightly but cosmetic and can look weirdly wobbly from the ground. Canter so so you would ideally like more natural flection in the hinds, think snap up and down and forward and under. Extremely pretty pony would make a lovely older child's riding pony. The periodic movement in front with the short steps PREs mostly do, exceptions always exist but still not the norm though specific sprt horse breeding is cahnging that. Thing is you have to see ahead to how much you will be able to get them on the hinds without breaking anything in the process, it takes a load of strengh and they mature slowly, any rushing and bamb. Start later with dressage training, just normal riding and hope they strenghen up with those little joints and feet.

    Pretty baby. You seem to be so mindful of your horses' needs, and I appreciate that. This horse seems to throw is front feet out a lot. Is that a young horse thing or is that a potential issue? I'm assuming not an issue because you didn't mention it, but still very noticeable to me. I'm not familiar with all the confirmation and movement issues with these horses, so if anyone would like to comment, I'd like to learn about that feature of this horse's movement.

      @clas6366 Рік тому +15

      A horse, even a green horse, shouldn't walk like this. This isn't a balance issue. He is clearly not 100% sound - doesn't mean it's a bigger issue. Could just be some blocked joints and muscles. It's definitly worth to take a look in why he walks like this. Especially in young, untrained horses it is important to prevent injuries.

    • @jonjonwp
      @jonjonwp Рік тому

      @@clas6366 This is how PRE horses walk. When you sell a horse they have been checked by a vet , otherwise Matt wouldn't be selling him.

    • @clas6366
      @clas6366 Рік тому +10

      @@jonjonwp no, a PRE doesn't walk like this. The striding of both front legs aren't matching and this isn't breed related. Yes, the walk different and have a different movement in comparison to normal warmbloods. I train iberian horses now for nearly 10 years - and never ever walked one of my horses like this just because of it's breed. He isn't 100% sound and this doesn't have to mean Matt is doing a bad job and selling lame horses. It could be the first day where the horse wasn't sound and during the stress of filming they didn't pay attention to it. It happens - they are animals. Doesn't change the fact that this isn't just breed related movement or balance issues.

    • @diane9071

      @cla s anything is possible, especially when it comes to young growing equines, But the one thing I have learnt over nearly 5 decades and having close equine vet friends and a therapeutic,rehab background is that thrre is no such thing as a100% soundness, but there is so much that you can do for all equines regardless of age, their structure, so on and so on to help make them comfortable, I think that Matt and his team are extremely well established in their knowledge and also have the gift of the "eye" and feel of movement when astride. He has pro en that over the yrs, and all the vet checks, therapy work that he does do which we do not always see, if he feels deep down that something has been missed he calls in the help of an animal communicator, He is amazing
