We rented a car in San Pedro de Atacama and drove through the Atacama Desert. Laguna Chaxa was our first stop which is a huge salt flat region surrounded by the Andes Mountains and filled with flamingos! Next were two gorgeous blue lakes - Laguna Miscanti and Laguna Miniques where we had a picnic with a view!

WHO ARE KARA AND NATE?!
New here? We are full-time travel vloggers with a goal of visiting 100 countries before 2019. We make daily travel videos. In these videos you can expect to see the best foods and adventures of every country we visit. ;)
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. While daily vlogging was not the original plan, we were having way too many cool experiences not to share every single day! Now travel vlogging is our full-time gig and we feel like we have the greatest job in the world! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
We’ve pulled inspiration from several of our favorite travel vloggers on UA-cam, such as: +CaseyNeistat +FunForLouis +Jon Olsson +Mr Ben Brown , and any other talented travel vloggers that UA-cam’s algorithm will hopefully connect us with ;)

One of the most beautiful blogs ever made. The sky is too blue to be real, the lake is too blue to be real as well.. I agree how can a beautiful place like this exists on EArth! more reason to preserve nature and stay green!
The first time I went to San Pedro de Atacama was in the 60's. It's changed so much! More houses, more people! Still the most awesome desert ever! Chile - from the desert to the glaciers down south! Awesome video - thank you!!
You could film for National Geographic
Heu nope. The guy barely leaves the car and it's mostly shots of his mug. last I checked NG was a little more than a video blog. The climbing community calls these guys "seagulls": they stay close to the shore (or their trawlers). When we see then we know the parking lot is not far. Not trying to be mean here, just realistic.
That flamingo shot 3:26 was amazing and with the music omg it gave me goosebumps!
Wow, what a beautiful place. Especially the lake area with the gorgeous snowy mountains surrounding it. Just perfect.
That was so beautiful it looked like a postcard, or a screensaver. Wow!
Hey Kara and Nate! I discovered your channel (thanks to a random youtube algorithm) about two or three weeks ago and I have watched many of your vlogs but this is my favourite. The nature is absolutely amazing and I’m going to try to convince my parents to go here this summer (winter then there):) I love your channel because you are down to earth, always positive and adventurous! Your positivity actually made me reflect on my own attitude and I think I am more aware now of the moments when I’m unnecessarily negative, so thank you for that haha:)
Back to watching all the blogs. This one is by far the most beautiful I’ve seen. My goodness!!
I’m watching all of your vlogs from the start and this is my favourite one yet 👍🏻 hope you keep travelling after country 100...
Can't believe the quality of each video! Just gets better and better! Keep it up you guys!! :)
mirandasuzara2 I know the last few especially. Very creative.
I'm 6 years into the future and it's crazy how much the quality of their videos have changed since this video ❤
oh my goodness-the lake and the surrounding areas look AMAZING!
I feel like you guys went next level with the artistic videography and editing on this one. Love it.
I never leave comments on youtube but for this one for some reason I feel like I should. I've been enjoying your videos for a bit now and loved watching all your favourites, and I think this one should be added on the playlist. The scenery is absolutely stunning and the lamas, well that was just magical. Excellent job filming and editing! You guys have such a serene sense of style in creating videos, I love it! Keep it up, Kara and Nate! From Canada🇨🇦
Love the snow capped mountains and those lakes.....WOW!
30K! There is no reason you guys shouldn't be at 100k very soon.
Edit to say. I came back and watched this a second time. Seriously...one of your best. #KillingIt
That lake is the most beautiful thing ever. And those llamas(?) are just so graceful. Warmed my heart.
Those are vicuñas
I’m from Australia. When Nate said “Massive tarantula” I was expecting a spider 10x that size. Then he panned down to this little spider that Kara was screaming at. Hahahahaha pretty sure we had spiders that big in our house when I was a kid.
We have daddy long legs the size of our hands here in virginia
Y’all are my favorite travel vloggers! I started watching from the beginning and they just keep getting better! This one was amazing!
Again with the absolutely amazing Airbnb hosts!! How awesome of them to rent you their car so you could still do all your plans!!
Kara + Nate, I haven't watched any of y'alls vlogs for awhile due to summer travels and school, and I just watched a ton recently and wanted to compliment y'all on your vlog quality improvement! It looks amazing, definitely some of the best vloggers I've seen. Praying for you guys!
What an amazing place! San Pedro de Atacama is really beautiful, at night you can see the universe! ✨✨⭐️⭐️...Greeting from Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱, we hope you enjoy your days here!
Fantastic salt flat/water view with those Flamingos and mountains in the background !! Wow!
This is now on my bucket list! Thank you! What beautiful scenery!!! 😍😍😍
Absolutely stunning! Amazing vlog Kara and Nate. We can't wait to head to South America next week and visit the Atacama desert.
Favorite video of South America so far! Loved the salt flat with the flamingos!! What a beautiful video! Weirdly beautiful alpine lakes...in a desert.
WOW. Amazing shots. Such a beautiful place.
Can you see yourselves living somewhere like this? My friend is from Alabama, was living in Hawaii and now is in Colombia. He just totally loves it there.
The steering wheel shaking when going above 60 kph is due the brake caliper sticking and/or bad tie-rod ends. Unbalanced tires could also be the issue. Now if the shaking got worse when setting your foot on the brakes then it's bad brake rotors. Have the owner check those items. Hope the car holds up for the rest of the trip :)
I think its the flux capacitor. Stop it please, the owner of the car is not stupid.
I had the same problem with my Jeep, can't remember what the remedy was
I had a car like that, my remedy was to sell it.
Absolutely beautiful scenery.
You guys are so lucky. I was there almost 2 years ago.. and they had a rare week of rain, we barely did anything.
The view is just awesome! You have given so much justice to the place with your vlog. Probably one of my favorite episodes. I will include this on my bucket list. 👏 👏
This is unreal! The lake looks like a painting!
I usually don't comment on youtube but I've been binge watching your videos from the beginning. It all started when I came across your videos of eating bugs and spiders lol and your Everest base camp trek in Nepal. Thanks for all the vlogs and that was really nice of your host to rent you his car in this video and the scenery is something else
Wow, that looks like some amazing fun. The last lake view with the snow-capped mountains in the background was amazing.
I love all of the vlogs ye make but wow this one is just incredible! The quality of footage mixed with the views is just perfection.
"I have 7000 pictures of the baby Lama Deer" Kara! hahaha just loved that. Warmed my heart!
Great Video, the quality is getting better and better, you guys are awesome! what a great experience!
Absolutely stunning video, i think this may be your best one so far, you guys are far away my favorite UA-cam vlogers the slow mo is staggering the drone shots breathtaking, and a live tarantula.....just superb!
I’ve seen all your vlogs up to this point (been binge watching all your old ones and trying to catch up) and this is my favorite so far! Wow! The filming and scenery is stunning!
In Texas, you see tarantulas crossing the road from one mound to the other. HUNDREDS of tarantulas. It looks like a mass exodus. When you drive over them at high speed, the suction gets them and they fly up in the air. Good fun when you're a kid. :)
+MammaBear sounds terrifying!!!!
Ahh ma gawd! That’s nightmare material!
Totally amazing..woww..breathtaking views!!! Thanks Kara and Nate~~Love you guys!
The drone shots were amazing
Wow! This vlog was primo! The music, the video, & the editing! I had chills watching. The drone shots!👍🏻👍🏻
Thx for all you hard work. Beautiful
I would be terrified to sit on the ground after the tarantula!
Good Morning From Kansas City! This is my 300th Video!!! Thank you for bringing me such enjoyment with your videos! ❤️
Amazing! Probably a place I won't be able to go to because of the altitude, so I'm so happy that I got to experience it through the vlog.
30k subs and counting! Well deserved and hopefully to many more years of Kara and Nate!
You're sure right about the sensitivity and variability of climatic conditions. Just when I thought I had escaped the cold in Santiago in July by visiting the Atacama, hello Chaxa Lagoon.
Loved the images of the flamingos! Great job Nate!
Nate, those animals are Vicuñas...their hair (wool) is super thin and very valuable - Protected species in Peru and I suppose in Chile as well.
I think those ‘llamas’ were vicuñas 🙂
Amazing shots!!
Absolutely stunning footage of a beautiful place ❤
You're right, you knocked it out of the park! Best video yet!!!
Beautiful landscapes
What a beautiful place and so perfect for a picnic , think I would of wanted to stay there all day . Cant believe 4 people gave you a thumbs down for this vlog, probably one of my favourites for views . . . drone footage is awesome too.
This is your most visually stunning blog yet. Lovin it
When you where eating your lunch. The background looked like a painting..so beautiful!
I have no words. Stunning!!
This is so stunning. I can't believe this place is real... it looks like something out of a movie. So surreal. So beautiful. I don't know even how to describe it. Are the waters really that blue??
Gorgeous desert, mountains, lake scenery!
Who are the 61 people who down-voted this vlog? I want to fight them. Kara and Nate, you're a delight to travel with.
Randomly came across your vlog while doing research on road tripping Chile. Love your videos, keep it up!
This place looks so cool and you guys got it all to yourselves 🤩
Best vlog EVER! What an amazing place ❤ loved every second of this video.
"Planet Earth II" status! Best vlog yet!
-Love from Kathmandu
This is one of the better vlogs of yours.

OMG that was wonderful i wanna go to this desert so bad and you portray it so good! the views are amazing! you definitely do a excellent job filming here
Flamingos get boring after awhile IMO. Glad you were so enthusiastic for them.
Me: omg this place is stunning I would love to go!
Nate: *sees giant tarantula in the middle of the road*
Me: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE
WOW! Magnificent; what a beautiful desert. Indeed fascinating. I love it, thanks you two. 💖
you guys are missing a big monster on your trip to Chile: TORRES DEL PAINE
chris venegas I was looking for their video of that and I couldn't find it, no wonder, guess they didn't go? I'm not missing it on my trip, I made sure if that. Their videos are beautiful, beautiful though! I could watch them all day long :)
gah your filming and editing 💘 you've improved so much!
That looks so good, it looks fake. I can't even imagine how it looked in person
THE herd of llamas....WOW!!!
Glad to see you are getting used to the drone. Def adds to quality of the vlog!
Wow! Love the drone footage!!! Keep up the amazing vlogs! I'm really enjoying them!
Well done guys, that was more like art then a vlog. Beautiful footage and extremely well edited.
Suggestions. Love the views..you should use the best pic and make them into postcards..Kara and Nate travel postcards..I will buy them
Yeah for the drone footage! Stunning guys, really just stunning. Damn you two, now I want to go to the dessert! Hate corrugated roads, but you appreciated paved roads when you get back on them. :D
this has to be one of my fav vlogs from you guys..!!
It is a really cool vlog
Gorgeous, fantastic video and locations - amazing guys :)
Definitely one of your best vlogs!
My car also does that steering wheel thing, I call it the "Death Wobble" lol
We call it the same thing in South Carolina 😂
Nice work w/the drone. Use sparingly! Vlog is great and getting better by the day, congrats!
I cannot believe this footage. Amazing
the new camera has already paid for itself! great Vlog you two! 😀
Great vlog and stunning scenery ❤️! 14,000 feet is quite high - the symptoms Nate describes at 7:49 are possible early warning signs of mild altitude sickness, which is something to be mindful of when ascending to such altitudes!
This is so beautiful!!
What a great place! And editing Kara!!! 👏👏🎉
DUDE! Excellent shots!
Eeeek gnarly tarantula! Here in the SF Bay Area we have them too, believe it or not. Twice the size of the one you discovered in the road!
Perfection. Stunning views!
