It seems like they tried to adjust him so that he would fit more with the faster MVC2 gameplay rather than the slower boss character normals, but they didn’t adjust enough for him to work. It feels more like they made a different playable version
Here some points of view: - Capcom decided to give Thanos new physical moves in MvsC2, while removing his projectile moves (flame pillar stomps, rock projectiles...). - No Mind Stone in MvsC2 No wonder why we don't see many players to pick him in fighting tournaments. Good video.

I find it ironic how the two stones they took away from this Thanos in MvC2 were the same last two stones that the MCU Thanos acquired in Infinity War. So basically the Thanos you fight in MvC2 is equivalent to the one Spidey, Iron Man, The Guardians and Doctor Strange fought on Titan.
@@ZoarTwiliI don’t think so, I think the Russo brothers were MvC2 fans, notice how MvC2 Thanos has bubble attack as well. In the movies he spammed bubbles in the same way.

Well it was part of the story cause he had all the gems in MSH. But the downside to his super moves are that the startup animation is not invincible. So alot of pressure can stop his supers from even coming out.
It is a shame they had to take away Thanos' msh animation & extra supers. Probably for balances or some other reason. Not to much of a shock than why Rogue can't replicate EVERYONES MOVES if she absorbed all 56 characters! 😂

I decided to do some quick looking up on Thanos' publication history between the Infinity Gauntlet story and 2000. While it was a nice touch to remove the Infinity Gems from his sprite in MVC2 since he no longer had them at this point in the comics, I haven't the slightest clue why they replaced his ranged normals with generic physical attacks. As early as Cosmic Powers and Infinity Watch int the 90s, he still very much has his Titan powers where he can shoot energy projectiles and he's even shown to be pretty good with weapons. He was even able to reflect projectiles from before the whole Infinity Gauntlet stuff. The character especially reeks of rush job considering they kept his Hypers from Marvel Super Heroes and he clearly used them Gems since he still shouts out their names. That is to say, Thanos is not just a big strong guy throwing around his weight. If they could give Magneto all that crazy stuff he does in the Marvel Vs games, they could have taken just as many liberties with Thanos.
i think the removed gems has less to do with the comics (at this point i expected other "adjustments" for the other marvel characters as well) and more with the limitation on the hardware they were working with
@@Zontar82 Don't think hardware is an issue. While Marvel Super Heroes was running on older CPS-2 hardware, MVC2 was running on the far stronger NAOMI board, which is based off of the Dreamcast. The NAOMI board allowed Abyss to be a thing. It's equally as big as Onslaught, but it's far more lively in its animation in all of its forms, especially its final one

Out of all the changes, it feels kinda weird that they removed the gems from his glove in MvC2. Sure, they aren't a mechanic like in Msh, but they're still a core part of his character.
He was the final boss in Marvel superheroes so he had to be somewhat of a nuisance just a regular character on the roster and he got completely dumbed down which makes no sense considering that he is the Mad Titan and truly one of Marvel's anti-hero big bads plus he and Doctor Doom did require a code to have them unlocked in the game of course Doom was a bit more of a challenge then Thanos this is good you ever consider the dark stalker series good Legendary Fun
Thanos by himself wasn't nearly as good in MVC2, but that's where assists come in. Don't underestimate him though, especially once he's got his meter charged and a large array of supers.
I like how Thanos still uses energy projection of some form. Even with no Gauntlet or Gems he can conjure energy blasts and the like in the comic books
Thanos was busted due to being a boss in MSH... but when they nerfed him he was so weak in MVC2! I'm glad they could find a middle ground with a new moveset in MVCI.
His super animations do not have invincible frames on startup in MSH. He can be hit out of it before the super comes out. Alot of pressure stops him from using supers.
I already did a video of which gem has a unique effect for each character =). But if you mean "all gem effects"? Well I did not do that because they all have the same effect unless you use specific ones on certain characters.

There are better ways to balance boss characters. Even without the gems, his normals shouldn’t be that bad. Magneto’s a great example of how to do it

I'd imagine if they keep his moveset from MSH in MVC 2 with his new attack animations added, Thanos would likely be up there with the High Tiers.
His Time Stone Attack would've been so broken on a team with Cable, Iron Man, Storm, Magneto, or Sentinel.
I understand why he was weakened in mvc2. But the option to add the infinity glove in Marvel be Capcom 2 would have been a nice touch
