Random question. I'm saving for a great daily watch. Have owned the Speedy (twice!), found it too big, then IWC Mark 16, found it too dull if I'm honest... Then a first generation Aqua Terra which I sold too.. I also then owned and sold Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer and the 38mm Auto... Just can't decide on a great "vanilla" daily watch! Over the years I have kind of narrowed it down to the Rolex OP 36mm probably black dial (or green if I can get one).... Now this Black Bay 54 has thrown me off, because it has the prefect size I am looking for and it will be versatile in any situation - in the office, hiking up the hills, even an occasional swim.... Would you personally keep the target in place - the OP36, but pay double the price, or just save up for the BB54? I know they are different watches... The benefit of the Rolex is a much plainer more versatile look, and the shine of their Rolex steel which is special I think (I have only tried on Rolex a few times)... But the BB54 is more accessible, the bracelet is more adjustable, it's actually just as thin and has more water resistance. Thank you !
Rolex OP will be top recommendation for a one watch collection. BB54 is perfect for the reasons that you mentioned and much more affordable. But to avoid future regrets I will rather settle with an OP. It cant be bested by any other 36mm watch. And you will not be limited to a diver. OP 36mm is a perfect everyday wear watch. Please stay on course.
@@Watchatete that's a really genuine and sweet answer. Thank you so much for those words...I think you're right. If I save for the bb54, I'm half way to the OP36.. so I should keep pushing!
I had a 36mm OP 116000, blue dial, 3, 6, 9 hour markers. I changed it for a Rolex explorer 39mm. It may be a perfect watch for a slimmer wrist. I did a review a couple of years back. Before Rolex released the most recent bunch of OPs. You can still find the review on my channel. It can be an option.
@@Watchatete thank you. That's really cool. Yes I like those older models too... I think if my AD call in the next year, I'll be happy to jump on the OP36 (I'm on the list for black or green). In the mean time, I'm just saving. These things are really expensive! I'll need to stay strong and not buy anything else and just wear my G shock or w86 Casio.... everything else decent is sold (Speedy, IWC and the Aqua Terra), so just waiting for the moment
I liked your idea with your video titled "Tudor blue vs black bay 58, why not have both?" I think it still stands here... they are both different watches but equally esthetically appealing in different but subtle ways and I'm starting to believe one needs both in their Tudor collection!
Thank you for watching my videos. There is a reason why I keep doing this channel. And giving my view on collecting nd watch selection is an important part of it. Thanks for your wards.
@@Watchatete I enjoy your insight! you're one of the reasons why I've actually started taking a huge liking towards Tudor. I just recently picked up BB58 on the bracelet but looking to get the leather strap like you have it, I like to look.
Thank you for takin the tme to comment. I am happy that you found my vids useful. Hope to come up with some more suggestions about watches that I like.
Seems pretty obvious, right? Keep the blue BB58 and the BB54, and part with the black BB58. This way you don't have two color variations of the same watch, but have different details and wearing experience from two different watches.
An alternative opinion to the universal love for the BB54. Yes, the BB54 has a better bracelet, but you are forgoing a lot. I feel 39 mm to be the perfect size for a sport/dive watch. Also, at some point you want a bit of wrist presence on a watch. I love BB58’s gilt bezel numerals, red iconic triangle (red triangle and larger crown references the classic Rolex Big Crown of the past) and the snowflake seconds. I even like the coin edge bezel matching the crown. Without these characteristics the BB would be rather dull. Now all these charming characteristics have been removed from the BB54. The lugs on the BB54 are also proportionally bigger giving it a less elegant, squared look. Newer is may not always be better.
All the points you are making about the BB58 (wrist presence, red triangle, gilt bezel markings, proportions, etc.) are subjective and down to individual preference, while the bracelet of the BB54 is objectively better than that of the BB58.
Tudor has had problems with new watches. Induces fall off, case scratched when new and various other problems, including taking more than a year to return new from AD repairs. This is not a Rolex and the finished product is poor. See other reviews on Tudor problems. I would not recommend this company at this time. At least until Tudor fixes there quality problems.
*37-39mm case diameters are NOT small, they’re a return to normal.*
Thanks for watching and commenting. Agree with your statement.
Exactly. Thank you
Spot on.
Sanity does exist in the watch world. And it's spreading.
It’s objectively small for most men’s wrists. Watches from long ago were way too small
Just love the 54. So classy and unique. The size and slimness is just cool.
The hype is over for the 54. Still a good watch!
I like the BB54 much better than the 58. Better finish and the sunburst effect on the 54 is nice
The BB54 looks ideal on your wrist. Also, the T-fit clasp is a major bonus. I’d keep the BB54 If you had to keep one, and sell the BB58.
Thanks for watching and feedback. The new 37mm watch feels like a new experience and is my preference for now. Thanks for commenting.
Hey man, what happened to you? You were making some good content.
Lug to lug is king.
Hope you return soon.
EDIT: Steel Reef makes an EasyLink for the BB58, superb.

Keep the BB54 ... T-Fit Clasp and the lower case profile wins... 👍 Sell the BB58 🤔
And it is the only 37 mm watch that I have. And I am liking it motr and more and more as the view vount groes.

great comparison 👍🏻
A really good video! I myself own the tudor bb58, in blue, i love it!❤ Love your vids!❤🎉
Thanks for watching and commenting. BB58 blue is ace.
Sir, they say without domed sapphire crystal the watch case is around 9mm, is it correct?
TBH, it depend on wrist size. Just tried that day at local AD. Bb58 fits me better .
You have to try out the 54 to know. 58 is a solid choice. And now you know

Thank you for watching and commenting. I am going to follow your suggestion and keep the 54 and blur 58.
Perfect 🔥
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Keep the 54mm
Sorry but that’s not a 7” wrist
Isn't BB54 lug-to-lug width 46mm?
I somehow measured 47 with my calipers. It can be 46, my mistake. Still very close to BB58.

Thanks for watching and commenting.39 mm is my favorite size or was. You have to try 37 and it is slimmer. You might be surprised.
I totally agree. Though I feel like the 54 works better on their wrist.
Tried the BB54 at local AD, it’s definitely too small for my wrist.(6.75’) Highly advisable for future buyer to try and dont rely on video alone 😅

Yes, it is subjective and the BB54 certainly has the better clasp. I still like aesthetics of the 58 best…at least from the videos I’ve seen.
You have the movements reversed in your graphic.
You have 18 cm wrist ? I don’t think so , your wrist is smaller than 18
