  • Crater Lake National Park is an astonishing wonder of nature. The remains of what was once one of the great Cascades volcanoes, Mount Mazama, the mountain lost over a vertical mile of rock, and left in its wake the 2nd deepest freshwater lake in North America. Come join me on a hike through Crater Lake National Park, and see one of my favorite places in Oregon.

Such an astonishing place. From the geologic history (people living today have ancestors who saw it in North America! Utterly incredible) to the natural beauty of it (deepest blue I've seen). Easily my favorite in Oregon. :)

What a beautiful lake! Did the island form in more “ recent “ times? I would love to visit this gem! Thanks Tor, beautiful footage!

Not sure the exact time of the island’s formation, but since the volcano exploded only 7,000 years ago certainly sooner than that! :)

I've seen a Mazama ash layer in Calgary Alberta. Cool to see where it came from.

Wow!! Seriously puts the sheer power of that explosion into perspective. Thanks for sharing! :)
