Grew up going down there back in the early 1980's as my grandparents purchased a shack from one of the original owners. Have many wonderful memories of Era, also my great aunt and uncle Cecil Frank and Dulcie Osborne were one of the original shack owners having purchased theirs in the 1950's both deceased now. My great uncle Frank was highly regarded and respected in the SLSA and had many positions over the years before he died. Haven't been down there in well over 20 years but still go down to Garie on occasions for the fantastic views.
grew up spending most of my youth at Garie and era those shacks were always a mystery and good luck to the descendants I was always envious of them but never Jealous I hope the history stays in tact. good luck
Moved here in 1989 from overseas to start my first "real" job. Once while exploring with my wife and little daughter, we were invited into a shack for a drink with a older fella at Garie beach. Had a very nice chat. And he told me that my new employer were a bunch of buffoons, ****heads, and idiots. He used to work there. Anyways, we thanked him and said goodbye. Thinking back on it, he was right.
I was fortunate enough to have a best friend who’s family has a shack and i spend every NYE down there away from the crowds. It’s an incredible piece of land and i can see the shacks mean absolutely everything to the families that own them ❤
How more true blue can you get? In the late 50’s and 60’s my grandparents and parents used to frequent the Bundeena NP and hike, camp and picnic in that area. I still have memories of walking tracks when I was 10 with my 1st dachshund - no political BS about what you could or could not do as everyone was respectful and cared for the area back then ! Love it!
This sounds idyllic but if the land wasn’t bought it’s public land . Same thing at Broken Head. A date was set and the buildings were returned to the park.
Keep one as an example and return to the management of the Indigenous community..... who will look after it and not leave all the rubbish .... Next generation of First Nations!
From wot eye see , it's a sight for sore eyes, and should have been demolished decades ago, with respect to grandad, but your time was then , not now . And personality id like to see many, of these shack community's gorn county wide, and restored for everyone
