33:45 Not only does Dash NOT have a UFO part, but it doesn’t even have a dual part! Even if you factor in the 3 spinoff games, there is NO single level that uses the Dual portal since it was introduced in Hexagon Force. In fact the dual portal only shows up in 3 levels in the ENTIRETY of the official and spinoff games where the dual portal shows up, and only ONE level in which it is used in an interesting way. Something tells me that Mulpan was behind this. The dual portal is even less used than the UFO portal.

To me, Dash isn’t just a level, it’s Robtop’s statement. It’s him realizing that in between 6 years people have took the same game and advanced it way beyond what he ever could. If it feels like he’s throwing everything at the wall, it’s because he is, and it’s him saying “here’s a whole ton of things you can do now, go nuts.” And when the level says “Geometry Dash” it’s his “yeah, this is the new norm” moment. It’s him going “This is Geometry Dash now, and it’s wild. Enjoy it.”

One thing I’m sure of about Dash: it expects you to have played custom levels before, not just only official levels. That’s how I feel Dash was designed.
Makes sense though. If you're here for Dash, you were probably here in the 7 years between updates, playing user levels
makes sense to me. a lot of people (especially ones that played lite or a spinoff first) will very quickly check out some user made level somewhere. it's not too hard to assume they'd beat say, a gimmicky gauntlet level or something before reaching the skill level to 100% clear dash.

i love all the parts of dash, so i dont really agree with you on most of this, but i can definitely agree with you on those last 2 coins. the 2nd coin just cant be found for a select few, and that really isnt THAT much of a problem, but it's still an easy fix. the 3rd coin is just obviously stupid though. the first coin i loved because it was sorta like a puzzle. i sat in practice mode to try and figure out how to get that, and i actually never saw the skeleton's eyes turn green, i saw those squares right above the coin. it felt really nice to figure it out, and now i guess it really isnt too interesting, but i still loved it. i feel like a main part of geometry dash is just memory, that is what practice mode is for, and then you put your skills and knowledge to the test in normal mode, so i dont really see a problem with there being no indicators as to like what portals would change or if you will go sideways on a wall, like most of those can just be memorized super easily.

Quick thing: with the ball part after the *spider* you CAN actually miss the portal in 2 ways, it’s just hard to time and I got it on my first try of it, and was super confused.
1) you stay as a ball and get sent at Mach 10 into your death
2) you get turned into a cube… and also get sent to your death at Mach 10
i'm pretty sure you can survive at mach 10 and actually continue the level with the music being off-beat

Edit: I just played the level again to see how it looked like, and honestly, the sound works as a kind of "elevator stop" sound already. Maybe RobTop could have made both the door opening and the elevator stopping be an instant thing so it would feel more fitting and satisfying, but whatever.

IMO, the ending of Dash is a transition to the Tower, where the player will likely go next. This is reinforced by the fact that you seem to start in some kind of forest, then progress into a temple, and then find a secret way (omg geometry dash reference) leading to a... closed room, that you end up opening by counting to 3 backwards. When you finally break the wall, you see the mechanisms behind the temple that end up opening the entrance to the Tower.

The F block may feel weird for newer players, but a good use for F blocks would be for hold levels where you can use F blocks and put a text saying that you need to hold. It could be used in a way to make interesting drops without abusing blue pads or portals, otherwise, why did he add it? To just take up another slot in the editor?

I think people complain about the lack of decoration in the second half of the level because it's much less diverse than the first half. While in the intro you have a lot of variety in the textures used for the blocks, in the second half they mostly stay the same. For example in that ship part, the spikes that you have to fly through appear on tall, identical pillars that take up the entire screen. Some more visual diversity would've been welcome, I think. It just looks too gray. There's also basically no ground deco while it was a big part of the start of the level.

Secret coin 1 actually has part of it peak out, a counter to show how many you need to hit, and the last button is marked green so there is a way to tell its there, Secret coin 2 has a purple barrier which shows there's something there. Secret coin 3 has you tapping near the ship section with NO visual indicators

Actually the potions have smaller hitbox than the portals (i can c It bcuz i have "show hitboxes" hack)and they could be skipped over with a single jump, but, if u c closely (with hack on), there is another hitbox (the one of the actual portal) and i think Its just a collectible and there is an invisible portal there (maybe the collectible rlly works and the portal its there so that u dont break the lvl)

18:50 - RobTop probably made the portal look like that because of the shader effect right after. Since the portal looks like flames, the shader effect gives the impression of heat on your camera. But that's still not a reason to hide 4 portals at once....

The arrow sign you pass by at the start of the level falls off, revealing a green skull on the sign.
This is probably hinting at the pulsing green skull block you need to hit later

5:45 Maybe that was the point of the gravity portal. Maybe RobTop intentionally wanted to make it to where the player didn't know what gamemode they were switching into before they switched into it.

9:22 yo I agree with almost all in this video to an extent, but I think the 3 arrow speed dash orb is actually REALLY SMART in terms of game design. Since it has become so common in custom levels, I think it sets players up to start on harder levels and even easy demons, which is what the last level of the game should do for its respective update imo. I think it’s a fairly seamless introduction Aswell.
It's not the 3x dash orb that is being complained about, it's the fact that there is a ball portal when the ball is never actually used.

I want to point out the fact that when you go into the wall in the spider part, where you go sideways for the first time, you just die… because when you hit a sideways walk twice, you immediately stop living: “logic”
I'm pretty sure the reason why there is a gravity portal before the confusing spider part is that i'm pretty sure that the first coin was originally planned to be located at the top of the screen which made use of the gravity portal.

Cologne here starts talking about how the UFO is getting less use in official levels. But what other mechanic has robtop been skipping out on? DUAL! I only know TWO official levels with the dual, hex force and blast processing. I thought someone would be able to point that out but I haven’t seen anyone discuss it.
Hopefully cologne starts yapping about the dual so we get more dual gameplay. It’s a fun idea that just isn’t very common.

The reason I'm excited for a new GD Colon video far more than any other ytber is because of these things: *1:* The videos are long but they never get boring; the script's info and humour never falls off and neither does the editing. *2:* His personality: he is a nit-picky and sorta perfectionist and doesn't hide it and that's why we all like him. And *3:* His videos don't leave you empty like shorts or tiktok; what he says adds value to the viewer and you are actually a smarter person at the end.

*4:* He addresses his FLAWE and changes. He said he'll be more positive and he has been a lot more in this video but he is still keeping his criticism side.
*5:* He elaborates on all of his concerns and criticism so that even if you do not agree with it, you see his POV and valid reason not to like the part.

21:03 I use gravity portals to indicate that you’re going sideways, but I just color them in interesting ways instead of leaving them with normal colors. For example, I would use a yellow gravity portal and color it red. Or a blue gravity portal colored purple.

What a great video colon!!!! I honestly think this was a perfect mix between criticisms and positive things you like about the level. I know you always think you're being too negative but this was a really good balance. And even though its 42 minutes long, I don't know why but I never felt like it dragged on. And all the bits where you show off whats going on behind the scenes or suggestions for improvements were done really well. Congrats on finishing such a long video, have a nice break after this lol 👍

idk how i didn't realize this but with the second pillar at the start is another hint for the first coin you get revealed a green skull on a sign and the arrow points down
when the update came out, like the very second it did, I was on a call with my partner and she was the one to tell me, after we play Dash for a bit, eventually I notice the slight difference in the zapper and kinda make fun of the fact that she can't see red at all, it just grey, however she did help with the first coin because green was the only color that she saw.

27:42 this happens depending on the headphones/speaker that you're using. If you're using dollar store earphones or your phone speakers then you're almost not gonna hear anything. But if you're using stuff like a good pair of headphones then you can hear and even feel it. I believe this is called sub bass which is the bass you can feel (when incredibly low) but I may be wrong on that

I use Apple EarPods (the little cheap wired earbuds) so I don’t think I would be able to hear much at that part.

using the icon files, I made the default spider into a screenshot of the dash spider part with legs
for the first coin i think a better thing for it could be maybe making a spider or go up and there would be a platform with a wall with spikes on it so u cant fall onto it and you hit all 5 to have a spider orb go up you land on the platform and it uses the same gimmick as the platforms above where when u jump you change gravity but you underneath the on that has a torch on it and get the coin there and then you can fall back onto the main track from it
Just a short correction, in the first coin part, the 5 squares actually represent the 4 yellow blocks plus the red one. I figured it out on my second attempt but I understand how it could be confusing.
