So many things you mentioned like, tricking your brain to feel like the 808 is present on phone speakers, is what I’ve been looking for you nailed this
Awesome tutorial. It's so God damned frustrating thinking that you have a great mix, at least relative to your previous song, but then upon hearing it on phone speakers, you realize that it's awful.
yeah same bro made cool track sounds good on my headphones and speakers sounds trash on phone can't do anything now i guess needed to test it before i uploaded XD
I actually swapped back and forth between a good speaker and my phone speaker, and when you muted the distortion bus the bass literally vanished. This is a crucial trick! Good video man!
Great. I would like to try that since my music always sounds bad in every non computer daw based player, eg car stereo. Only in my head phone all sound nice.
@@HijakMC Can i ask u something about the room treatment, cus i was for example trying to eq my Hihats and there was a disgusting freq 5,5kHz i could hear it if i moved my to the right spot and then if i moved my head to another i couldnt is it bcs of room treatment or iam just imagining things?
Instead of doing the send thing, (im new to mixing, sorry)could I duplicate the track, add some distortion and blend that with the orignal track. Would that work as well, or would that be wrong? It is frustrating to hear crap after some long hard work in recording. Finally, hearing someone else feel the same way. Thank you so much!
@@LearnAudioEngineering I was also struggling to create this send/bus channel, (In Logic 9) If you do just a straight duplicate track and add the 'blended' bass distortion what is the difference?
I don’t understand, every video I see is talking about how their volume is too low when they export, or the high frequencies aren’t coming through… I’m a simple guy, I just like to put on an acoustic instrumental and sing to it, and no matter how much I turn my high frequencies down everything is piercing, it doesn’t sound warm and smooth.
Great video bro but i need your help my music sounds someway decent on phone speaker but i have a problem that the bass is concentrated on the speaker as i get closer to it i hear the bass but as i go further the bass vanishes and the sounds get worse and becomes very flat
I play bass in a cover band. The bass guitar has never been audible on mobile phones. Your have thought the professionals we've used for our demos and showreels over the years would have created mixes that would work on small speakers as so many people only listen this way.
there are apps like sound forge audio cleaning lab 3 that have some presets for cell phones so you get an id although the then sound crap in your car .. its a catch 22
This is very aggravating. Even between phones it is impossible to please everybody. I can get it to sound nice on my dual speaker flagship but then it sounds like garbage on someone else's $100 single speaker phone
Doesn’t work at all. It sounds the same on iphone with apple earphones :(. It sounds great on computer (before watching the video) but trash on iphone with earphones on, instagram, and youtube.
You know your bass there sounds scratchy on phone speakers chief? The thing you're trying to show us as good technique for translating to phones...didn't work. You amplified the scratch and slide. Not the bass. Credibility?
Video starts at 7:30
Thanks
Thank you so much! it´s so annoying how ppl tend to be prolix.
You're welcome
its always that low mid range that makes my mix sound shitty when i turn up the volume on phones and laptop. sounds like distortion or overdrive
Ditto
same bro
Same here and before I realized this, I would eq the fuck out of my guitars til I realized it was distortion smh
@@nathanielcava4128 So how did you fix it?
Nathaniel Cava yeah how do you fix it

I released my song and when I played it on phone speakers there was a really bad distortion.
Who releases a song without checking on phone, speakers, headphones, car etc.?

Cheers for this, writing metal riffs/loops for a mob game & this is perfect. Kudos
I’m glad you found it helpful! Good luck on your upcoming project!

getting vocal phase issue . stucked whole day cant figure out...
Old mixing trick that many engineers have used for many years!
"Be realistic" I needed to hear that
Great Tip, feel a little more confident about my Mixes in Lil' Speakers with this!!
Thanks for this trick man it improved my mix🙏🏿🔥
How do I swap between my phone and laptop speakers? My phone doesn't connect to my laptop.

Hahaha he said the funny thing!! Me nem JJEeeoooffff hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
Hi sir, can you help me to mix or master my punjabi track like a pro
Nice 😀
Thanks for checking out the video!
Sounds good on laptop speaker, sounds good on monitor. Sounds like ass on my phone :(
same here bro have you find something soluton for that problem.

That works pretty well! It's usually done to get a crunchy amp sound for the mids, mixed with a clean DI signal for the bass.

Why not demonstrate the outcome by removing the lower end on the master EQ?

My phone speaker bieng upgraded they put a radiator sub in my phone and it's sound trash so I use a bt speaker
can the same thing be done in garage band ?
Any d.a.w
Is this parallel compression in a way?
Parallel distortion. Exactly the same process but with a different effect.
Yes!!! thank you :)
You bet! Thanks for checking out the video!
Hello Jeff
Hi there!
all he does is talk till the half of the video
even worse^^
LMAO "my name is jeff" (21 Jump Street reference)
IVGI2 is a free plug in for distortion. This video could've been two minutes long.
What about for vocals? Lmao i did the same thing to them by adding a bus and amp designer. Bouncing now😂😭

@Whia Didju aint gone hold u bro. I got distracted w school and just started writing lyrics to instrumentals 😂😂😂
@Whia Didju lmao check some of my freestyles, would love some feedback
It took you 8 minutes to get to the meat of the subject... mmkay.
He sounds like Stu or Bass kleph
Yeah dont stess, only stress listening to diff diff speakers lol

@Sykedelik did your cat die?
this video could have been 2 minutes
literally only got to the point in the LAST MINUTE
In one iphone sounds dscent and in another one kick and Drums Higher than everything else. Why ?
Because they are hahhahaha
Why am I listening to you if you do not know why people want their mixes to sound good on phone speakers.
if you listened to 10 more seconds of the video your question would have been answered
My name is Jeff lol
I hate cell phones
