Thanks dude I appreciate that. for the Rog ALly, it was such a big issue in the beginnning that ASUS was like holy crap we gotta fix this. Im pretty sure its not a problem anymore

I tried to boot it. It sat on the “ROG” boot screen, got hotter and hotter. Now it’s just in a boot loop and keeps getting hotter. I tried resetting it (factory reset) but it’s not responsive. Sometimes, even holding down the power button doesn’t do anything. In the past (when I first got it) I would put it in the fridge to cool down and after a few hours it would start working. That isn’t working anymore. It has major temperature issues (you can’t use the micro-sd slot). It’s been doing this for days…. It’s still under warranty, so tomorrow I’m calling ASUS to get it serviced, but I have a couple trips coming up and want a handheld for the trips (that’s why I got it).
You've nailed the feeling of really using the device. Tear and wear is something of a concern of mine, because I'm not good and keeping things safe. Unfortunately battery life is a road block for me getting this device.

It's a handheld, there's no way in hell you can play an AAA title that's very cpu and gpu intensive for more than 2-3 hours. Just get a powerbank if that's a concern, there's plenty of cheap powerbanks (like Baseus 65W, around 50$ and it has 2 full recharges) and you get around 5-6 hours of intensive gaming. Battery is always a plus, but saying that being able to play only 5-6 hours is a road block on a HANDHELD is very weird to me.
Nice review! When you mentioned stressing about battery life, there's actually a term for that in the e-bike community. It's called, "Range anxiety". With e-bikes, let's say you are supposed to have a 40 mile range on your battery. A lot of people experience stress/anxiety about how much power they have left when they're only half way through their ride because of the limitations of their battery. Same is true here. Very common phenomenon :) -- Trying to decide between SteamDeck OLED and Legion Go. Go seems to have more flexibility, but I want to be able to play games unplugged on flights and things, so sounds like SteamDeck might be the way to go for me. Keep up the great work!
I love your style of reviewing things. It's like seeing a happy child after unwrapping a Christmas present, far from the specs sheets and performance graphics.
Bro listening to you review things and talk is just so therapeutic. Awesome review! So helpful. Am getting it next month when its gona relase in India.
Hey man, super well thought out video. I’ve loved my legion since I got it 2 months ago. It’s not perfect and definitely requires some deep diving and trouble shooting but the raw performance and screen are amazing. I love being able to run things like Overwatch 2 at 1200p at 100+ fps. Also being able to take the controllers off makes it super easy to store, whereas when I had a steam deck, I had to be more mindful of how I packed things due to its footprint. Love the vids man and keep it up.
@Cyberdopamine Have a try in setting the GO in the side menu to 1600p and turning GPU Scaling and Integer Scaling on in the Adrenalin (AMD) driver settings, and setting the image resolution in any game to 800p at the same time. Just double checking your games didn't switch back to 800p in the side menu during startup, and stayed at 1600p. You will see a noticable big difference in image quality and a really way more crisp image as a result, at basically no performance cost ☺️😉👌👍
@@rahulmaron I don't own an Ally, so I'm not shore, but if it works (and the screen supports this too, if it even has to support it at all, maybe it just works just like that, always out of the box), then it would be working only at a quartet of the maximum resolution - being 1080p, if I recall right? So it would be 540p in it's 16:9 format (maybe the half exact pixel count works too, I don't know which resolution that would be inbetween the two mentioned..), if a game even supports such low resolutions to be set up 😅 AND if it would be looking good at all at such low resolutions... With the Lenovo at 800p it really looks great, but it also isn't such a low resolution. Maybe just really calculate the actual pixel count of 1920x1080 and divide it by two and see if there would be such a resolution available, which you can set up for this.
@@CyberDopamineIf you can, try it out without any FSR turned on, to see the real effect, not affected by FSR (it helps also with FSR, just to see the actual result of it, not having additional upscalers interfering additionally). Just native resolution upscaling to 1600p, compared to 800p when having the GPU scaling and Integer scaling off. -> If I recall right even already leaving those two options on, and staying at 800p settings in Game, just switching between the LegionSpace side menu resolutions 800p/1600p you can see the difference in direct comparison in the best possible way, right away.
Practical, honest and chill. I was thinking about getting one, but after seeing this I realize I’m better off sticking with the Ally. I take this thing everywhere. Guess I gotta wait for the ROG Ally 2.
I bought an open box from best buy and there was charging problems. I ended up getting a new one. As long as everything works, I think this is an amazing device. Gamers seem to hate the Windows aspect, but for someone who wants a portable powerful mini pc on the go, this is the best device to have.
BRO SAID , AS CRISP AS BUTTER LOL - amazing review again sir! i ordered my legion go today , i have sold my steam deck OLED due to EAC limitations - SUPER EXITED !
I'm glad I got the Rog Ally. I had a very tough choice for weeks trying to decide if I wanted a Deck, Ally, or Go. But, I'm very happy with my decision on an Ally. Not a single issue since I've gotten it. (1 Month)
Just got mine a couple weeks ago. I think it’s a good device. Haven’t run into a lot of the issues from these early reviews. But it definitely took a couple hours to set up.
I have the go, I have several games running in the highest resolution, all purely because I don't understand the settings, yet the look good and run well. Red evil 2 and 3 look stunning. Dirt 4 too
i love the legion go but my mom says even if i save up for it with my chore money i still cant get it (i just got a chromebook for christmas, and it would take me almost a year to even get the legion go.) hopefully when i get a job it will be easier for me to get :( looks awesome tho love your channel btw ❤
@@CyberDopamine YES! You are so right! I'm slowly getting older, and I'am sometimes forgetting how great it felt getting adult, finally being able (even if not beeing earning a lot) to buy, and faster save up for Games/Devices I always wanted to have! Having this freedom, after having been completely dependent from my parents in this regard! @itsharulol CyberDopamine is totally right here. Even if still having to save up for such devices a bit, or to decide to buy this device instead of another, you will be able to make those decision by your own sooner or later. Even if you should become a student first, a job will help you out with that 😉👍👍. And for my side, only having a Legion GO (but knowing a lot about the competition). I would definetly buy the Legion GO again, and I feel, like I'm not really missing out on much. Just if I'm sincere a Steam Deck OLED would be still nice to have for it's simplicity of use feeling console like, and effeciency = long battery life. But I also need to be reasonable, as I'm saving up for more important things, and as fast as things go in the handheld market now and knowing that for AAA titles the Steam Deck still runs them, but that's it (you cant expect higher frame rates from it in most newer games), I will wait the further 1/2 years until it will come out, (PLEEAASE with a way bigger screen! The current one is just way too small for my taste) and will see how it will be then. Can't wait to test out this so belowed console experience myself, having heard of it from soo many UA-camrs and not knowing how it really feels like myself, not having friends owning one, and not beeing able to test it myself...
You can go look for open boxes it’s much cheaper, and wait a few months cause it will drop cause the next new things are coming up. But if u don’t have a laptop this is a good overall pc too ( aka sell that chrome book😂😂😂)
Mow lawns for neighbors or if you live in the north it's a great time to shovel snow. If you shovel 10 driveways 7 times for 10 dollars a piece you will have enough money for the legion go. You may not be able to do more than 1-2 on days you have school but that's doable in especially if you live in the suburbs.
i would but i cant besides its only a samsung chromebook 4 which is 150$ (less then a normal chromebook used in schools) my mom would have a coniption@@acutelilmint8035
I sold my ROG Ally a couple days ago so I'm super excited to pick one of these up! Perfect timing for your video also. One question I've been sort of wanting to ask is how good the right controller touch-pad is for navigating the desktop? I kind of liked using the thumbstick as a mouse on the ROG Ally and I heard from multiple people that the Legion Go's touchpad sucks.
I have been trying to decide if I want to pick one up or not. I thank you for your honesty and opinions. I have decided not to pick one up at this moment. The battery life is really what made my decision. I know you can probably get a power bank to help with that, but the legion is a pretty hefty handheld, and adding something else to the weight isn't ideal. I thank you again
I adore my legion go since day one. The updates for the battery to charge quicker while playing and also the battery charges SO fast. 40 minutes full charge! Phenomenal! My battery lasts about 3 hours with my settings. I also have the XReal Pro 2 glasses with the XReal Beam which puts the glasses at 144HZ connected to the Legion go is my hook up. So good. I've gotten rid of my steamdeck and Ally. Legion go is my daily driver. I even got rid of my PS5.
Imma be completely honest … I have a series x and a switch and I bought a legion go to attempt my first venture into pc gaming . I’ve never experienced more technical issues with a device than I have with legion go . The build quality is amazing but the device def is heavy The UI is quick and snappy but the windows integration was horrendous . Every time I started a game for whatever reason the screen still flips upside down despite however many times I change the setting back. I’m gonna spend some dedicated time with it to figure out all the kinks bc I really wanna enjoy this purchase . So much potential
Maybe use some soft/calming background music and move mic closer so we can hear you better (without asking you to speak louder) You included some great info, multiple video clips of the gameplay vs yourself good stuff… but maybe do some more statistics/data charts/testing results related to the topics you are already talking about. Also whatever device the video is about include an introduction of general description, tech specs and dimensions. Make this last around 30seconds (under 1min) but will help people learn more about the device being covered not just your opinions. I only recommend this because other UA-camrs do this and I like knowing I can count on that info even if not wanting to watch the full thing.
How are the TDP Controls on the Lenovo Legion Go in comparison to the Steamdeck? I have a Steamdeck LCD and a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme. The recent update to Armoury Crate is good with the TDP slider. Individial TDP profiles are convenient on the SD. I have a dilemma with choosing between the LLG or the OLED SD. I am leaning towards the LLG since I want all of my handhelds to be different.
Currently. It still doesn't work... Only way to adjust power is changing power modes (balance, performance, etc.) I own both the Deck and GO. You should wait a bit tho for more updates and get a used one maybe? I sold my deck and edc the GO now. I always thought the screen on the deck was just a bit small. Couldn't play some games without a monitor. The screen is perfect on the GO. Lacking VRR but being able to see a player across the map in a competitive games makes a huge difference. It has 3 sizes for that 16:10 display too. 800p, 1200p and 1600p
Funny how you mention the support for the ROG Ally is much better, when so many people had SD cards corrupted by the Ally and no help from Asus for quite a while - or even any acknowledgement there was an issue. The Ally still has stick drift issues to this day too, which shouldn't be a thing these days.
I agree that the speakers could have been better. Other than that, it’s probably the best handheld at the moment. I want to buy a 4 or 8 tb internal hard drive for the legion go.
Just ordered a LeGo. There are a few issues people have raised, I'm hoping that I'll be able to get it past those issues, like lack of VRR, ergonomy, unpolished software, terrible speakers. Will probably end up returning it but it seems promising for Gen1. I'm hoping Gen2 fixes most of those issues or that all competitors will make something better.
Great video, i like your revievs, you are talking so smooth and easy. It feels that you are really honest in your revievs. I can't decide to buy Lenovo Legion Go or Steam deck Oled. I had both the consoles and i have offer to buy Lenovo for the little highter price than SD Oled and i don't know what to do. Lenovo annoyed me when i wanted to play NFSU1 or Sacred 2 and the portrait screen was the big issue. Games have a problem to display properly, at first NFS don't even started. I had to search for a way to deal with these issues... And this battery way worse than SD. Touchpad is worse than great trackpad in SD while playing Sacred 2 which is created for mouse native. But this screen in Lenovo, oh God, that is awesome. Diffucult choice.
I got one a few days ago, I have the resolution and stuff turned down and have used it mostly for playing games on Xbox cloud and it works really well, the battery lasts for hours and the cpu, ram and GPU is always on the low side as your essentially just streaming, while I understand the desire to install and run games, I really don't understand why people are still doing this other then for when you are lacking a wifi signal.
I have all 3 commercial products Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Legion Go for some reason the Legion Go has been my daily driver. For the past 3 months, I have taken it everywhere. The battery life is sorry the speakers are bad as well, some games don't play nice with the screen other than that it's still my favorite handheld device to date. Hopefully, Lenovo will give US an upgrade next year with HDR same screen size, better speakers, and of course, battery higher-speed RAM-optimized CPU and GPU.
Agreed. Coming from an ROG ALLY, I could just start the game and play but with the legion go you can’t. You have to tinker with it. And overall ROG ALY just runs smoother and better. But overall I will always go for the go over the ally
I only wish they add a front camera, and active stylus support for the display (for creative work, it is a tablet after all)... maybe even a fingerprint scanner in the trackpad? I'm still gonna get one, but I think those 2 things would make this thing the ultimate device honestly.
“Immersive” is how I describe the legion go. Especially paired with the GPD G1. With every setting maxed out it’s hard to pull me out of the game/experience
I loved your video! But I must say that the legion go has a better performance in almost every game (compared to the rog ally and steam deck)… take your time and search it up… the battery is the biggest flaw and I completely agree with that. But you can also buy a power bank (I have and I can charge the console 4-5 times). Finally, the possibility to connect it your tv, unplug the controllers and play like a switch, is really cool.
i was looking for the amd adrenaline saturation setting but couldn't find it, could you make a video of all your tips & tricks for beginners with a Legion Go?
Thank you for all your reviews and talking about handheld devices like this with us. Do you feel it is worth making a purchase on the Legion go right now with rumors that there could be a new updated one coming out by the end of the year? I am on my last day to return the go and I’m not quite sure I want to keep it yet. It is a great device, lots of quirks and bugs and issues to work through and do you have a nice gaming, laptop and desktop PC currently to get me by but as a busy dad, the handheld device has been really great to have as an addition
Dude thanks a lot. I would personally wait. Computex is around the corner where companies drop a lot of things like new chips and products. I’d say waiting a month for a device is better than pulling the trigger and then wishing you didn’t
The fan control on the go follow some overprotective policy. Is a non sense that the rog ally let you 95 degrees and on the go could not go over 75 degrees. Why the curve fan is not a bit more flexible?
The SD Card slot of Ally got fried, maybe Lenovo was just careful, just because the cpu can withstand 95 - 105 degrees, doesn't mean the surrounding components do 😅
of course but still is that 10 degrees gap... lenovo force you to have less than 75 degrees while the sd card reader will start to burn over 84 degrees. then i would like that lenovo dont force 4500rpm if is not necesary (more than 80, or 5000 if reach 83). Their fancurve could be a bit more relaxed . not too much as Asus but a bit more@@kewa_design

Dude! Your really good at this!
Bro listening to you review things and talk is just so therapeutic. Awesome review! So helpful. Am getting it next month when its gona relase in India.
Heck yeah dude! I wanna go there to india bro
Awesome video. Can’t wait for the ally vid you mentioned
@Cyberdopamine
Have a try in setting the GO in the side menu to 1600p and turning GPU Scaling and Integer Scaling on in the Adrenalin (AMD) driver settings, and setting the image resolution in any game to 800p at the same time. Just double checking your games didn't switch back to 800p in the side menu during startup, and stayed at 1600p.
You will see a noticable big difference in image quality and a really way more crisp image as a result, at basically no performance cost ☺️😉👌👍
Does it works on Ally too?
Shiiiiz dude I'm going to try this out when I hop back on my legion go tonight
@@CyberDopamineYes man! Let me know how go How you found it 👌👍
@@CyberDopamineIf you can, try it out without any FSR turned on, to see the real effect, not affected by FSR (it helps also with FSR, just to see the actual result of it, not having additional upscalers interfering additionally).
Thanks for video, was going to pick it up but the "battery will drain stress" when playing would kill me if I get this one 😂😂😂
glad i've found this vids, thanks for the honest review man
My pleasure broski
Practical, honest and chill. I was thinking about getting one, but after seeing this I realize I’m better off sticking with the Ally. I take this thing everywhere. Guess I gotta wait for the ROG Ally 2.
"the grass is always greener on the other side"
Your ally is amazing and is the best all around
I bought an open box from best buy and there was charging problems. I ended up getting a new one. As long as everything works, I think this is an amazing device. Gamers seem to hate the Windows aspect, but for someone who wants a portable powerful mini pc on the go, this is the best device to have.
BRO SAID , AS CRISP AS BUTTER LOL - amazing review again sir! i ordered my legion go today , i have sold my steam deck OLED due to EAC limitations - SUPER EXITED !
Just make sure to blame EAC games and not steam ... Cuz there is an option in EAC to allow it to be used on Linux
Great vid! Just ordered one for my birthday! :D
Heck yea you’re gonna love it
Awesome video! Please keep us updated on this device!
For sure!
@CyberDopamine just wanna say what a great reveiw compared to others ive found on youtube. Helped alot!!! Subscribed!!!
What a chill guy.. Thanks for the honest review.. Subs!
Really great review, just keep up and you will get better if you think you need to. For me you were already great 👌👌
great informative review man. your time and information is very much appreciated! 👌
I appreciate that!
I'm glad I got the Rog Ally. I had a very tough choice for weeks trying to decide if I wanted a Deck, Ally, or Go. But, I'm very happy with my decision on an Ally. Not a single issue since I've gotten it. (1 Month)
Easy sub. Keep up the great videos man. Cheers!
I love your style 😊 you do a great job! Gentle voice very smooth guy ❤
Gay
Fantastic review. I own this device and I think you hit all of the nails on the head.
I was surprised to see you only had
Thats awesome!!! I've been meaning to get over there. Thats cool thanks
Very good and honest review. Providing the good, the bad and expectations.
Thaaaaaanks. Just bein real with it
to fix the wobble on the controllers, place tape on the black bits from where they connect it will fix the wobble :D nice video!
I gotta try that thanks!
Thanks for the great insight on Legion Go!
Excellent job explaining everything man thank you!
My pleasure!
When your showing the pixels on the screens stop for a sec and slow down. Great stuff
Just got mine a couple weeks ago. I think it’s a good device. Haven’t run into a lot of the issues from these early reviews. But it definitely took a couple hours to set up.
You're good at this , very informative.
I appreciate that!
I have the go, I have several games running in the highest resolution, all purely because I don't understand the settings, yet the look good and run well. Red evil 2 and 3 look stunning. Dirt 4 too
Thats awesome dude
Great video and gave me a lot to think on (as one that is bit intrested in getting a new device after my steam deck)
I honestly have no hate for this thing. I love it more all the time.
Awesome content, got yourself a new Sub! Waiting on more content.
i love the legion go but my mom says even if i save up for it with my chore money i still cant get it (i just got a chromebook for christmas, and it would take me almost a year to even get the legion go.) hopefully when i get a job it will be easier for me to get
:( looks awesome tho
love your channel btw
❤
Oh dude one day you’re gonna get a good job and you can buy whatever you want and it’s the best feeling ever. Thanks dude you’re awesome!!
It's awesome to see people playing Enshrouded
This was a great review.
I don’t think they’re a problem at all. It just works you know? I mostly just use the touch screen unless it’s something like baldurs gate
what is your settings for enshrouded? Ive been trying to make mine look better.
like the review, everything is on point, except for the glitches. I have never experience glitches likes the ones you are showing in 7:39 .
You lucky duck
How are the Xreals?
Regarding the audio , I found out that If you disable the enhance audio in windows settings , it sounds so much better
Imma be completely honest … I have a series x and a switch and I bought a legion go to attempt my first venture into pc gaming .
I’ve never experienced more technical issues with a device than I have with legion go .
The build quality is amazing but the device def is heavy
The UI is quick and snappy but the windows integration was horrendous .
Every time I started a game for whatever reason the screen still flips upside down despite however many times I change the setting back.
I’m gonna spend some dedicated time with it to figure out all the kinks bc I really wanna enjoy this purchase . So much potential
Maybe use some soft/calming background music and move mic closer so we can hear you better (without asking you to speak louder)
You included some great info, multiple video clips of the gameplay vs yourself good stuff… but maybe do some more statistics/data charts/testing results related to the topics you are already talking about.
Love the videos ❤ 👍
Thank you!
The Finals! Love that game, and the fact you can play it, plus FPS Mode is why imma cop this for my travels.
Only way to adjust power is changing power modes (balance, performance, etc.)
I own both the Deck and GO.
Amazing review. I wish all reviews were this real world and easy to connect to. I felt like I really experienced the pros and cons with this review.
Thats awesome thank you!! Im glad it felt real
How are you liking it so far? did you end up returning it? Just picked one up yesterday, still on the fence. Thanks!
Bro I would get the Legion go. Because of Longevity!
@@CyberDopamineI choose Legion Go a couple days ago :)
This guys vidoes are chill.
Love the profile pic and your name hahaah
thank you for explain i like the way you talking :)
So nice of you
The lossless scaling app is going to be a huge help for this device.
Wish I had that type of money sadge
Agreed. Coming from an ROG ALLY, I could just start the game and play but with the legion go you can’t. You have to tinker with it. And overall ROG ALY just runs smoother and better. But overall I will always go for the go over the ally
Yeah you know how it goes. One day it will all be solved
"AWWWWW." The cat is so cute 😍
I only wish they add a front camera, and active stylus support for the display (for creative work, it is a tablet after all)... maybe even a fingerprint scanner in the trackpad?
I'm still gonna get one, but I think those 2 things would make this thing the ultimate device honestly.
“Immersive” is how I describe the legion go. Especially paired with the GPD G1. With every setting maxed out it’s hard to pull me out of the game/experience
EXACTLY
They really did messed up using them cheap speakers and eliminating the VRR.
oh yeah
Great video, what's the colourful game with the guy with the sword?
Awesome video!!!
New sub! ☺️
@cyber Dopamine. thank you for sharing your thoughts. i honestly think your review is really good! and there is no need for improvements! credit to you for help me make my decision to buy the legion go ( Really enjoying it ) Warm regards from Singapore!
I lived there for 3 months bro singapore is awesome.
