🪑"Please, have a seat" ~ Chris Hansen
Check out my Episode 1 Breakdown here: ua-cam.com/video/MgxdNeR9EkU/v-deo.html
I more than likely will end up quitting this show due to Daemon. The actor is all wrong for the part. He should be King Veserys, and the actor playing Veserys should be Daemon. The character as is, is coming off as too beta to be a main antagonist. There is literally nothing about him that I find remotely interesting. Too soft-spoken, too thin to be in armor swinging a sword around...so far, the only character I do not find believable in the show.
@@thomasjones4570 actor is Matt Smith of Dr.Who fame & more recently, Marvel's latest offering Morbius...I watched episode 1 & automatically thought Damon looked more like Witcher or more like (if you can remember) the evil painting in the original Ghostbusters II ...lol
Someone else has been getting recommended TCAP videos as well it seems lol.
@@vengefulbeauty TCAP....?
@@johnroy2567 Vigo!
But yeah I know Matt from Morbius also.
it may not be as bad if he wasnt doing it so soft spoken and maybe they gave him some gruff like they have the King. He is too clean cut for that thin face of his, coupled with speaking softly he is coming off as weak and timid. The character isnt being sold.
IF I think about the actor that portrayed Theon Greyjoy...that guy is short and petite yet he sold the character with his voice and mannerisms. Matt is not doing that with Daemon.
I think Daemon also calculated in that moment that yielding to Rhaenyra after refusing to yield to Otto made Otto look weak and would also remind him that the true power lies with Targaryeans and their dragons.
Agree, without his Targaryen grandsons a Hightower name doesn't mean shit. And the Queen Alicen would replace his father as the most important player for Hightowers in game of thrones, but what happens to Otto in the shows ? ....the actress and showruner hint that the Queen had a vented angers that could explode when she get the power, are we gonna see Alicen killed his own father ? 😬
The look Middlefinger Otto gave Rhaenyra and her dragon Syrax gave as they left Dragonstone is very telling
If he wants the Hightowers to really be considered truly powerful, he needs a direct line of succession, and he's got to have dragons
@@thomasjuniardi3559 no, no one is gonna kill their own father, it's a fight over "heir", a fight over the "throne",
Killing father wouldn't change who's gonna sit on the throne.
@@vizeath It wouldn’t change who sits on the Iron Throne. So, all the more reason for Alicent to kill her father for personal vengeance
I think one thing people are missing is how Otto stopped the kings from going to check his brother. He did that on purpose to rile daemon up. When Otto got there daemon asked he thought his brother would have came, and Otto told him that his brother wouldn’t steep so low. They cut to the lord commander and he looks at him like he knows that’s not why the king came. Then when rhaynera shows up it messed up ottos plan. The way they are planting the seeds for war like this is so subtle and sneaky it’s legitn
why they gotta name him daemon spelled exactly like the name for a program
I agree Otto didn't want the brothers to see each other. I think Daemon doing this was an attempt to get Viserys attention, and might lead to them making up. Historically, no matter what bad thing Daemon did, Viserys would forgive him. Otto is trying to prevent this.
viserys is like the ultimate Ned stark .. no way that man is making to the end of this season
Hes Not, he’s an idiot and indecisive just like Ned hence why they both meet their end
It's still gonna be a loooong way until that happens, many weddings, many children,
(If it's according to the book)
more like robert
Yup
I like the actress for Rhaenys, The Queen who Never Was. Despite her regal posture and behavior, I can always feel her resentment for not ascending to the throne whenever she's on screen.
Well you know the saying… Once you go black they don’t want you back🤣
For sure great casting.
For sure. 😕 Can't say I blame her either.
She was great on Nurse Jackie too
Thanks for explaining the credits. I had no clue what was happening but the family tree makes sense
Funny his breakdown confirmed what i thought it was when I watched. The crowns were the indication for me
I'm glad I now know this, I was thinking what a boring intro before!
@@leahhuntz6236 same I didn't appreciate it at all but his breakdown made it much better
Me too, because although I knew the intro is the model of Dragonstone that King Viserys was building, I was confused what the symbols were and if the trail of blood is supposed to symbolize the Targaryens downfall or something since their intros usually give away the entire story. Them being each bloodline/King makes more sense
Man that breakdown of the intro was absolute gold ,hatsoff to the show runners for keeping so much of detail in the intro
@toijg avnnr sry i didn't get you
One of the things that makes me a huge fan of you is your voice. Your vocal tone, word pace and emphasis and stress just resonate correctly in my brain and its just pleasing to my ears. Thank you for all your detailed work. I still fondly recall stumbling across your Castle Rock videos and I've been hooked ever since. I can't wait for the next video you put out.

Castle Rock is the show that helped me find his channel. I love that I know I’m not the only fan. Safe travels and find joy! 😊
That's a pretty perfect way to describe his videos!
Get a room
I really enjoy Raised by wolves and this guy I approve on all videos .He’s very cool dude
I had hoped for the past few years that they would keep the original opening music & so happy they did. It keeps you feeling like it’s 2010 again. I love it. Me & my brother just got out of the Army that year & every Sunday night we watched GOT with our cousin that introduced us to the books about 6yrs before. Our cousin passed away before season 2. But just hearing that music brings us back to that year. Very good times.
Imagine if *_Melisandre_* appears in the series........................... 😳😁
That necklace had her around for well over a century or _centuries._
That would be epic!
She’s not in the story at all.
We know that she isn't _"in the story"_ (📖).
Yet in a HBO _adaptation_ which already has obtained a _second_ season after its series premiere, something like a fleeting blip of a Melisandre appearance would be welcome _fan service._ "Imagine if..."
*Spitballing.* Asshai is in Essos _(so are the Free Cities)._ If "HOT D" has a second season or more, who is to say that Melisandre couldn't at least have an appearance? *Spitballing.* During the time of "HOT D", Red Priests could already be searching for _Azor Ahai_ .
In Episode 1 of "HOT D", Rhaenyra is made aware of the Prince that was Promised _("Song of Ice and Fire")._
Melissandre. _"...preserved by the Lord of Light, she was around 400 years old by the time of Game of Thrones. She was born on Essos during the height of the Valyrian Empire, and would have been around 200 at the time of House of the Dragon."_
I'm _not_ expecting the character of Melisandre to be in any season of "HOT D" for any reason, but if she were to appear even for a moment, that appearance would be a wonderful fan service wink.
*_"On Wednesday (24th August 2022), Carice van Houten shared a fan's Instagram Stories post of a photo of Melisandre and a message which read: "Just watched House of the Dragon. I’m just saying, Melisandre is centuries old"…..Sharing the post on her own Instagram Stories, the actress posted a 'fingers crossed' emoji and a winking face emoji."_*
So much as a _fleeting_ glimpse of a Melissandre appearance would be great fan service. *Spitballing.*
I said the same to my son

Haha...Yet perhaps not in the books & HBO storylines. 🙃
It's also said that the iron throne cuts those who are unworthy of it. Like the mad King, Joffrey, & now king Viserys.
And the whole intro scene just went over my head before this breakdown 🤦🏾♀️😊. I’m a big fan of the GOT world but I’ve never read the books so it takes may a little longer to figure out who is who and why they are important etc. Appreciate your breakdowns.
Me too 😑
Dorne was never conquered and Dorne never bent the knee, its why Dornish rulers are still referred to as princes in title, instead of wardens and lords like the rest of the regions in the 7 kingdoms. Dorne joined the Targaryen rule via a marriage alliance, on their own terms you could say and they retain the most freedom from the crown even up until the events of game of thrones.
Dorne was so much more badass in the books
They were conquered before the scenes of GoT.
@@chblegendary165 go and read the lore. It was conquered 70-80 years from HOTD.
@@henryenyokwa Daeron the Young Dragon was only fourteen years old when he began his war in 157 AC. Although Daeron quickly conquered Dorne, the Dornishmen successfully rebelled.... in my opinion, the better term is occupied - not conquered
@@henryenyokwa "A conquest that lasted a summer. Your Boy King lost ten thousand men taking the place, and another fifty trying to hold it. Someone should have told him that war isn't a game." Add his own death to that tally.
Otto was provoking Daemon to jeopardize the relationship between the potential heir and the king.
alicent was always treated like a pawn by his father to be maneuvered across the board in order to ascend as queen. he's kind of like tywin in how he treated cersei as a card to trade for political alliances.
After the first episode people was siding with Otto and thought daemon is antagonist now I would like to hear their opinion
@@wdym9540 that's because most of them haven't read the books so think deamon is the bad guy when really no one is good or bad and it pisses me off how some people just think ohh got prequel it's going to be shit because season 8 lives in their heads rent free 😂
@@jackgould5332 what books is this show from
@@wdym9540 People are weird. They just want to see the brother as the problem vs the clearly manipulative Hand. Dude looks as shady as Jafar. Daemon is clearly just looking out for his family, and he knows his brother is weak and easily manipulated.
In the discussion of Mysaria’s pregnancy - I wouldn’t describe this as a change, we have to remember that our “source” is an in-universe history book. So I think it’s better to read this as “the reason the history book said this…” instead of “the reason for this change”
It would make sense imo for the “official” story of the pregnancy which is a lie is that they used a miscarriage in a storm to explain it anyway
😅 Lol, when they said they wanted their daughter to marry the King I thought " oh, they have another child, an older daughter besides the first two we've already seen?", little did I imagine they meant the little girl we saw in the first episode. 😱😱😱😱😱
The opening credit breakdown is gold, thanks
I legitimately wouldn’t have picked up on the credits if I hadn’t seen this. Liked and subscribed (been subscribed for a while, actually.) Thank you for your content. It’s truly appreciated.
lol “I so lonely”... Poor Crispin.
Thanks for the breakdown and explanations. Very informative and the funny bits make it enjoyable.
Great breakdown, loved Corly’s talk with Daemon at the end there🤧👍!!!
Bang up job. It's well appreciated. Cheers, mate.
I've read the book, and know how it ends already. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. Round and round again.
However, I'd still love to see the way they created the views, the castles, the costume designs.
Things like these cannot be seen from the books.
And in the series, there are more conversations, more scene to scene details,
More emotions and dramatic scenes,
Things that are just a few lines in the book can become 10 minutes fighting scene.
Great video. Thanks for the explanation of the intro credits and family tree. I had no idea all that was related. Just figured blood ties/family etc. The symbols thanks for the in-depth 👍❤️
Thanks for breaking down what the intro was about I never knew what it was, didn’t know it was that depth! Awesome
Love your content so much man! Keep up the high quality! 🔥
Wonderfully researched, sir👌🏽
I knew the credits were doing a thing, but I had zero idea that it was LITERAL BLOODLINES to a family tree.
Just covering that made the whole video worth my morning.
Every single breakdown of this episode, from the other UA-cam channels that cover this show, none of the channels mention that Daemon and Rhaenyra have flirty sexual tension. From their first scene together, her words confront him, but their body language is flirty, not angry. She says "hey you're not supposed to sit there", they banter, and he's like "guess what I brought you a gift", and she's excited. When she sees it's a valerian steel necklace she immediately blurts out "like your sword Dark Sister". She's obsessed, or at least interested, in his sword as opposed to any other sword she could have named. That is straight up romantic interest . Every time Daemon's name is mentioned in front of Rhaenyra, you see she is interested in him.
The confrontation at the bridge is similar. Her words confront him, but neither of them are angry, they both give each other flirty eyes, and it ends with Daemon's girlfriend storming off, and he playfully tosses the egg back.
Mysaria knows that Daemon likes to fuck girls with silver hair, she knows what's up.
None of the UA-camrs I watch have mentioned this sexual tension (Screencrush, New Rockstars, Alt Shift X, Quinn's Ideas)
Do male UA-camrs just not notice this????
Wow awesome breakdown of the intro credits! I would have never picked up on all of that!
that's a very sick dive into the intro which I knew had a lot of meaning but you have saved me a lot of time - great job!
Wow. This breakdown kicks ass. TY
Great breakdown. Been a fan since your Black Mirror days
This was a great episode, a lot of scheming, particularly from otto. The standoff on dragonstone was a great scene.
I’m amazed on how fast you’re able to get these videos out! Mere hours
Wooow dude I thought I knew alot about the Targs history but listening to explain the intro was fucking great dude big props to you man
Definitely one of the better Thrones channels with more then off the wall theories
Oh my gosh the intro credits is so cool!
Wow you really analysed the credits. True fan indeed
New subscriber here your breakdown is exceptional.
I chuckled when the narrator said it was a quick flight from dragonstone to driftmark. Then I was like oh yeah he has a dragon
Very good breakdown.
Thanks so much!!!
Great episode!!
Was waiting for your breakdown since this episode aired ! Love and respect from India ♥️✨
Brilliant!
It kind of bugs me that they didn’t take the opportunity to further cement the fact that the Baratheon blood is stronger than even Targaryen blood. The Queen who Never Was is suppose to have hair as black as a ravens wing because her mother was the daughter of Alysa Valerian and Rogar Baratheon.
And actually Aemon was set the be king before Balon but the killed by a crossbow bolt in the neck
Its not stronger just dominant versus recessive genes. The targ blood is definitely dominant in their other recessive traits appear in the bloodlines in various ways like dragon riding/ whispering Jon snow and others
I think it's not really a surprise to me,
Velaryons and Targaryens have silver hair, same characteristics, same race, just different houses.
Alyssa Velayrion marries a Baratheon and their daughter has black hair.
Now this daughter is half Velaryon - half Baratheon, there is still Velaryon blood running in her.
And her father is Targaryen,
So I guess she is 1/3 Targaryen, 1/3 Velaryon, 1/3 Baratheon.
There is still a possibility that 2/3 genes would win against 1/3.
What I can't agree is, in the book, there is another character with Targaryen blood marrying a Velaryon,
Their children have brown hair, so it assumed that the mother secretly cheated with someone with brown hair.
Then, why did Visery's wife (Aemma Arryn) have silver hair too in this show?
Her mother was Targaryen and her father is Arryn,
How could a random house who possessed brown hair win?
But not in the case of Quuen Aemma?
@@elliottwilliams9221 no, it's not the case at all if you read the book,
There is a couple, Targaryen and Velaryon married in the book, but their children have brown hair (assuming the mother's cheating)
Well done
Thankyou for going over the intro. I only watched it the once and didn't realise what it was. I thought it may have been Dragonstone's citadel, but wasn't sure. Now that I know what is it, it's brilliant. I think it's a good idea to have the OG Thrones theme. 1) It's iconic AF, and 2) It connects the stories, though with an interesting new twist. Noice.
Excellent and informative analysis, especially of the opening credits. I wonder if they will change slightly for each episode like GOT. I was so happy to see them return. I never read the books and sometimes I am ‘lost’
Dude, you're good.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how politically cunning Visery actually is? He only made a decision of whom to wed after asking everyone who may have a motive: Otto, Corlys, Strong and Rhaenyra (probably didn't ask Maester b/c he knew Master was alliancing with Otto). And after realising that marrying Laena will push most of the court towards Corlys, he went with Alicent to balance out the power. (That and his inner geek, of course). He is a wise man and knows how to play the power game.
not quite, Otto Hightower already holds most of the power in court. If he actually asked Rhaenyra she wouldve told him the same. But he always sides with Otto. Corlys isnt liked in the court, they find him an annoyance. And Otto most of all, enjoys shutting him up. By doing this Viserys only solidified Ottos power and pushed Corlys further away. Corlys who is the only one with a direct line to Old Valeria and married into Targaryens, a house that was at Targaryen side since the begining. It is interesting tho that Otto is determined in pushing out and away every semblance of Valeria and Targaryens from the court.
@@BambiLena666 it's possibly that old westerosi view of the Targaryens being abominations in multiple ways: they violate the faith of the seven's tenants, they are foreign (not Andals or First Men), they constantly commit incest, the list goes on and on. There are many views that the lords of westeros hold onto strongly, and Otto is no doubt one of them, hence his preference of mitigating the Targaryen influence at court and therefore on the realm.
@@1993Redemption Agreed. Also it would seem other Targs/valerians are the only ones openly standing up against Otto. all of them except Viseyrs seem to have very little patience for his ramblings and schemes. So having them removed helps his position.
Lol not at all. He’s an idiot, and he married her because he’s attracted to her and let her fathers power go unchecked. Which causes the fall of his house. He’s not cunning, his daughter and his brother were
@@BambiLena666 facts! And Otto causes the downfall of the targs in hindsight with his littlefingering

Dragonstone was waaaay more impressive, awe-inspiring in this episode than ever shown on GOT imo..
sadly we only got to see the exterior and the winding path. would love to see interiors and more detail
I got confused for episode 2 i thought it was game of thrones because of the intro..lol. thanks for explaining it thoroughly. This show is amazing ♥️
I plan on reading the book now
Awesome breakdown, the first thought I had during this episode of GoT was, "what does the open credits mean?"
So why doesn't Vis offer his daughter to Corlys' son? This would stop the problems in my mind. They would both be fathers to the Queen and grandfathers to a King. Makes sense.
But any male heirs Vis makes will make the marriage obsolete. Could be seen as insulting like "here, have the spare."
He does……Rhaenyra is set to be engaged to Laenor Velaryon
because Men get the clout . thay would be signing the kingdom over to house valerion
@@esmandagamer3441 Queen Elizabeth I did well as the first solo female English Queen. "Stomach of a man" and all but didn't marry. Queen Victoria only just turned 18 when the King died and married Albert. No major problems there. She did great and her son became King.
@@Schaemia He doesn't have to but. King William didn't have any heirs when Victoria was named heir as a little girl. I understand there was previous solo Queens but Albert's lineage became the new rulers. Him and Victoria were cousins but like Targaryen and Valeryon.
Yes
That intro goes deeper than i thought. Damn.
Great video , this was way better , This week shows was boring af.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Otto Hightower-runner up for worst father ever
Chris Hansen should probably still say 'hi' to Viserys. I mean, Alicent is supposed to be 14 on the show (this is according to Emily Carey LOL...and I thought she's at least 16 on the show, since in the book she's 18/19).
No way she's 14 on the show when Rhaeynera is 15. I would say at least 17 on the show
I'm pretty sure Alicent is still older than Rhaenyra in the show, the writers just lowered the age gap from a 15 year one to an age gap that's only about 2-3 years apart.
While her father plays with miniature model dragons, his daughter rides them and fights
Ep 3 has me hyped
Thanks for not spoiling anything, unlike Emergency Awesome who spoiled the whole series for me in his Ep.1 review where there were no spoiler tags. He won't even let you comment with the word spoiler in your comment. What a dbag and instant unsub.
i think "aenys" is pronounced like "ennis", like "aemma" is pronounced "emma"

Idc about this show, but man I love think story, so balance baby!
was it daemon's caraxes showing up vs. rhynaera on syrax ?
Youre making it seem like the version of events in the books is closer to the truth of what happened when its exactly the opposite. G.R.R Martin has said the events described in the books are unreliable since the maesters wrote it from second and third accounts, as they didnt actually witness any of the events and most of the ppl that did were long dead. The version on the show is based on what G. R. R. Martin told the show producers was actually true
Except GRRM will write a book later that has tons more characters and the plot will be more complex and intricate, so I don't think anything in the show would even be true canon so it can't be closer to the truth any more than GOT vs ASOIAF
Can someone post the valerin translated into english........it came up in french for us even though we are set for english subtitles so we have no idea what they were saying last night
It's a bit disappointing (but not surprising) that people aren't super familiar with Latin pronunciations. The "ae" or "æ" is pronounced like a soft "i" (or a hard "E") in English such as the word "be" or "knee." Look no further than the name Cæsar (like "See-Zer") for an example. That means the name Ænys is pronounced "Ē-nis"rather than "A-nus."
I didn't know that I had a phobia about being consumed by crabs until last night ...
Looks like the crabfeeder has GreyScale?
I’m just pumped for a spin-off in Old Valyria… when Dragons were at their best…. Size and quantity wise. Just thinking how amazing a series about it would be. Seems like the logical next series, no?
Just worried they in it simply because it would cost a ton to cgi so many dragons. But this series has printed so much money, they could do it and still make billions… ok, maybe not billions, but it would 100% be profitable and just expand the GOT legacy
Im hearing jon snow is next.
it would be awesome if the show continues until Dance of the Dragons era
