It is CANON, set in the Roger era, and was written by Oda in order for it to be the setup chapter to one piece movie 10 Strong world (my personal favourite movie). Chapter 0 was also adapted into what is known as episode 0 if you prefer to watch instead of reading the chapter.
Honestly the movie made me cry the second time around. The ending was so beautiful and now I wanna cry whenever I hear that song when she dies "The World's Continuation"

Not all One Piece movies are fantastic, but they're still fun and worth the watch. My top 3 favorites (excluding Red) would be: - Movie 6 : Baron Omatsuri and the secret Island - Movie 13 : Gold - A toss up between movie 12 : Z and movie 2 : Clockwork Island adventure And don't sleep on movie 11: straw hat chase, it's only 30 minutes long, in full 3D and not as easily accessible (I don't even think it has been dubbed or is even available for purchase outside of Japan), but there is a sweet story between an old man and his dog, so would definitely recommend

It's when Luffy first met the Redhair Pirates and how Uta ended up on Elegia permanently. In case you don't know, Uta as a character is canon. We saw her silhouette in a small panel in chapter 1055 when Shanks was thinking of the New Generation of pirates while talking with Admiral Ryokugyu.
Uta is actually a canon character in One Piece. Her backstory/powers might not be though. You have to watch Movie Z and Strong World in my opinion. They are the best One Piece movies. After that, you can watch, Film Gold.
A lot of the one piece movies are great to amazing, my personnel favorite is Film RED, followed by Movie 6: Baron umatsuri, FILM Z and Strong World. Im glad your diving into these amazing Movies!
I saw the movie. It was amazing. I really enjoyed the team up with Strawhats, Shank Pirates, Law, Bartholomo, Coby, and others. I like the music part of it. The visual is beautiful. The fight scenes was amazing as well the humor. Uta story in the movie was well written as well her Devil Fruit power is very interesting as she teleport people consciousness into virtual space by her singing. The Usopp and Yasopp using Observation Haki along with Luffy and Shanks delivering the final blow to defeat Tot Musica was an amazing moment. I like that we get a glimpse of Gear 5. As well I like that the movie highlights how evil the World Government really is. I will say another One Piece movie that's really good is Strong World. But anyway great review Amber. Also really fun, loved the adventure.) -The secret island (I love the weird animation style in this one, and also how dark and creepy it gets.) -Film Gold (Idk I have good memories with this one, I should probably watch it again.) Also, now that you've read Jujutsu Kaisen, you should also watch the movie, is really good.

Prepare yourself for something different and much darker. 3- First read "Chapter 0" and then watch "OnePiece film: Strong World". Chapter 0 is the prequel to the movie, establishing Shiki the Golden Lion as canon (We first heard of him in Impel Down). Just remember that most things happening in the movie are *not* canon. It's the 10th movie and the last one set Pre Time Skip. 4- "OnePiece film: Z" It's the 12th movie and the first one Post Time Skip. The antagonist was included in a colour spread drawn by Oda-sensei, so some believe that part of his story is canon (Sorry for being vague 🙏 I don't want to spoil you) 5- First watch the TV Special "Episode of Sabo" and then the "OnePiece film: Gold", as it's served as a kind of spin-off prequel. It's the 13th movie and came out in 2015. Other movies are good too but (excluding "OnePiece film: Red") this is my personal top 5.
Oda has gotten plenty of mileage out of the Figarland reveal since we started the Egghead arc. And the parallels of finding Uta in a treasure chest just like how Roger found Shanks.
You should watch Strong World because just like Film Red, parts if it are canon. Film Z is probably still the best One Piece movie even if it's not canon.
You should also watch Strong World, Z, Gold and Stampede. All those are not canon like Red but have canon elements in them. I would also recomand Movie 6 Baron Omatsuri and the secured island. Its made by Mamoru Hosoda one of the best anime directors and even if it is not canon its probably the best One Piece Movie to this day.
I personally liked film Red, but my favourite part was definetely the music. Ado knocked it out of the park and watching it in a great cinema made it for a great experience
I am absolutely horrified that you considered watching the movie at 2x speed. My only gripe with the movie is with the dub. They went to the trouble of hiring a singer to play Uta, but then didn’t dub any of the songs (this is not me saying I dislike Ado’s performance, it’s jaw-droppingly good and her song Show is one of my favorites now).
ngl, i think film Red lack something but i dont know what, maybe because im used to Oda's long-form writing style makes me want something more 😅. it doesnt mean film Red is bad. My personal favorite is film Z, i love Z character

ahh one piece films. there are some snoozers in there and some just retellings of drum island and arabasta but the first movie is a fucking masterpiece. one piece film gold and one piece film stampede are just below the first one piece movie for me, but i hear the sixth movie is the best one. film red is really solid until you think about it. the movie would be better if fujitora wasnt there about to let marines kill civilians. why the fuck did shanks leave uta on the island she just massacred and sure dont destroy tot musica but why would you keep it on the island with her??? and why not leave uta on, i dunno, dawn island with luffy??? why leave her alone with gordon???? goddammit shanks. solid movie but extremely questionable backstory. and even stranger is part of it is canon. manga luffy really met uta and manga shanks really did abandon his adopted daughter with gordon and uta is just out there, presumably hearing about luffys adventures just being like "oh. okay. kinda wish shanks told him where i was..." cuz this movie is basically just a non-canon scenario where uta becomes an idol worldwide, shes just chilling somewhere in the manga! much like another movie character but you'll get there. oh and also i was and still am massively disappointed that its a musical and brook didnt have any special part or scene or anything really.

Shanks crew always find a way not to be in their kids lives 😂 One piece Stampede, Film Gold and strong world are must watches. You’ll love them all!!

Shanks found Ulta in a treasure box, then, there is a theory that Roger found Shanks inside a treasure box in God Valley making it full circle.
