- Tristan Da Silva always felt too good to be true. He checked every box the Orlando Magic like in a draft pick. When it was their turn to pick, of course he was going to be the one they picked. The veteran forward not only checked off all the boxes for the Magic, he signals they are ready to win and everyone has to be ready to contribute.

i like that we drafted an older player. Shows to me that we're not in the business of waiting on prospects but needing contributions right away.
Good point. We keep leveling up
Exactly. Not looking to baby anyone. He's ready to contribute.
Even though in 2022 and 2023 we drafted 4 19 year olds. Shut up 😂😂
Yup, top 5 youngest team in the league didn’t need to focus on the youngest, instead focused on the most complete player available. Love the pick.
Well said. "He's not a project". He's ready to contribute. Hoping he becomes our Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Love our front office
Absolutely agree I stopped watching the draft after we drafted couldn't care about the other teams.
Phillip was C O O K I N G 3 weeks ago in his pod about Da Silva...took me some time but I love what this young man will do for us. I have no concerns about Jett/AB because I see them all working together and being a solid bench squad with shooting, playmaking, and defensive potential. Great pick, now go get a table setter in FA!
Da Silva was 5th on my list of top prospects that could be available to us at 18 or with a small trade up. 1. Jared McCain 2. Kel'el Ware 3. Tyler Smith 4. Bud Carington and 5 Tristan Da Silva. Like the pick a lot, but don't love it. Da Silva will NEVER be a starter for the Magic as he will always be a backup to Wagner, McCain is a Steph Curry/Donovan Mitchell type player who had a chance to fill the other starting guard spot next to Suggs. Ware had a chance to eventually become our starting center. Smith, as an elite shot blacking 6'9" combo forward with every bit as good a shot as Da Silva. He is this year's GG Jackson - a lottery talent that fell to the second round and will be great. He would have been far more able to paly alongside Franz and Paolo as a small ball center due to his shot blocking. Therefore Smith, Ware, and McCain would have been more complimentary to our current roster. Da Silva offers too much redundancy with Jett Howard and Caleb Houstan, just like Bud offered some redundancy with Black - better on offense, worse on defense, but very similar players. If the Magic would have traded up and gotten both Smith and Da Silva, I would be ecstatic, but can't be ecstatic that they got the number 5 guy on my board while the number 3 guy was still there.
@@13cozmik I don't think getting a starter at 18 in a "weak" draft is realistic but I definitely see Da Silva taking the Ingles minutes and contributing more because he is a better defender than Ingles (not saying much lmao). I definitely agree that McCain (or even Knect) would have been way better fits long term, but I'm not mad because he's definitely going to give you good minutes off the bench and be a glue guy for that unit.
It does concern me that with all of the skilled players we have, we don't have a bonafide scorer off the bench. Ideally that's CA but he hasn't been consistent enough for me to believe in it. But I do like the fit for the second unit and making our team deeper from 6-12.
@@user-up7cy9lb4b you obviously have no understanding of draft history. Giannis is draft was considered even weaker and yet Giannis was taken 15th. Jokic was taken 41st. GG Jackson was taken 47th last year. Your statement is one that only an ill informed novice would make. There is a ton of talent in this draft, there just isn't an transcendent players at the top - doesn't mean a couple won't develop into them. I'm saying McCain will be a star too - book it. His game is the closest to Steph's I have seen yet. Last year I would have fired Jeff Weltman for drafting Jett Howard over Jordan Hawkins. Spot up shooters are not as valuable as shooters who are in constant motion like Klay or Steph. Hawkins and McCain together would be the closest thing to Klay and Steph we have even seen. Not that it is going to happen, but those players never stop moving, constantly applying stress to a defense.
So happy everyone wants to support teams like golden state and lakers I only started supporting orlando in 2026 i was always drafted by them in 2k16 did my history on them and just fell in love with this team. We made an amazing pick.
Phillip my brotha I totally agree, I love the selection of Da Silva. I think he is a great fit for them. Gives franz an opportunity to maybe run as the table setter if they don't get a point guard(russell or caldwell-pope or bust for me).

Magic continue to add size, plus a decent shooter. Still need shooting at guard.
Sooo the same thing every year
@@noelramirez1551 We need to be more aggressive... Our front office let Paolo be part of a 20-point choking job in a game 7... That's terrible....
@@LeBoboclatsimpleton take
@@nahyoulyin Wasn't it obvious that we needed a shooting guard that could hit a 3??
What did our front office do about it? Nothing, they let Paolo fight 1v5. They better start bringing shooters to spread the floor for Paolo, or else we might see him wearing a Lakers jersey soon, like Shaq and Dwight... We also need a better offensive assistant coach immediately...
Nicely done!
He's a chuma okeke clone minus a couple years
I can see the comparison minus the INJURY
I like the de silva pick but I hope we didn’t miss out on a future 3 and D star in Jakoby walter
No certainty only opportunity.
Tyler Smith is the star that fell and he will be this year's GG Jackson.

2 years in a row the Magic just give away a second round pick. Should have traded up for Tyler Smith. I hate not using second round picks by drafting a player or trading up for one or trading for a vet. Last year we gave away an early second round pick for basically nothing and could have instead drafted the steal of the entire draft = GG Jackson, who I liked far more than Jett Howard before the draft. Just imagine if the Nuggets had been satisfied with drafting Gary Harris and Jusuf Nurkic in the first round and just given away the 41st pick instead of drafting Nikola Jokic. Never give away assets without getting something of real value in return. I'm sick of the small thinking. Only aggressive teams have won the title recently - Boston this year, Denver last year, Golden State the year before, Milwaukee the year before that, the Lakers the year before that an Toronto the year before that and Golden State before that. Cleveland and Miami were also super aggressive. The Magic must grow some balls at some point.
Hopefully they won't regret not trading up to get Dalton knecht
they will regret not drafting Tyler Smith
welcome to the German Magics :D
I'm so happy that Joe ingles is finally off my team. Welcome Tristan Da Silva!!!
Joe Ingles is awesome mate what are you talking about?
@@SBSChristianMedia I love the guy, I could drink beers with him all night. That's the problem, though. My grandmother could probably break his ankles. He couldn't play defense to save his life...
W pick
If Tristan some how manages to really shine and be fringe starter..Can we put Franz at the 2?? To me Franz wont be quick enough but he would cook everyone else
Franz's bread and butter is to be a 3. Y'all are tripping

@@13cozmik i hear you, to you yes, but i love his versatility, we need to address the center and lead guard position in trade and free agency
@@davidcarlos4350 there is no one available in free agency as good as Anfernee Simons - I would push hard to get him in trade. Malik Monk is very similar, but is a better back up than a starter. I really wanted Jared McCain or Kel’el Ware in this draft - both have starter potential and would provide elements to this team we are currently missing. Ware is a good shooter, had a good post up game which few centers have these days, he is also a really good passer from the top of he key. He is a good shot blocker and a great rebounder. McCain is a lights out shooter who I think will be better than Reed Shepherd - McCain was a starter - averaged more points and was more of a focal point in the Duke offense than Reed was in the Kentucky offense. He also set Duke’s record of 8 3 pointers in a game twice as a freshman.
OG Anunoby just signed a huge deal with the Knicks which means Hartenstein might be available and the Magic should get him. He would add toughness, hustle and rim protection. He´s also able to shoot if allowed he´s a great passer
Hartenstein offers nothing but redundancy to our current roster. It's like none of you understand how to build a roster.
@@13cozmik it´s like you don´t know Hartenstein at all.

@@Goxilla oh, I definitely know Hartenstein. He is not elite. He is not a great shot blocker, the one thing we are missing from the center position. It’s like you took three games in the playoffs and extrapolated that to a full season instead of looking at what he did over the course of the whole season.

I would have been ok taking the filipowski kid from duke.. why did he fall to 2nd round ???
With another role player set, there’s more of that cap space for Paul George
fuck no - totally different timelines
Next Jaime Jáquez?
no. Jaquez is far stronger and far more physical.
Bronny is next…..
So does that mean they regret drafting Jet Howard with a lottery pick last year?
It means that Da Silva will take Ingles' minutes and Jett will take Harris' minutes.
I would have told my personnel guys that if they draft Jett Howard over Jordan Hawkins they will not have a job tomorrow. An elite shooter who is in constant motion like Klay Thompson is far more valuable than an elite spot up shooter.
Perfect pick ? Lmaooooo nobody ever mentioned this dude
Bro you can just say you don’t follow basketball wouldn’t that be easier? Dude was mocked to go higher
