    Lovely set of benches John! I made my own last summer and found the 15 degree recline very nice too! Chances are I’ll rebuild the set this summer or the next because I’m really not happy with how they turned out … thinking a more modular set up would be good! Also I’m required to make them storage boxes as well, and water proof at that, to store the cushions when it’s not in use … so if you feel like doing another bench build, make it one with storage under the seat so I don’t need to do the thinking ;)

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed
      @JohnMcGrathManInShed  2 роки тому +3

      I had thought of doing storage for the cushions but it would need to be waterproof like you say, a lager plastic box hidden under the seat would be the best option

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed

    Looks lovely and so much nicer then shop brought ones. Where did you get the cushions from if you don`t mind me asking? Also quick tip for the bottom of the legs, where it will touch the ground, either use some plastic feet spacers so raising the wood off the floor, or use some wood off cut scarfical bits to screw in where they touch the ground, which can be replaced when needed. That should help with the bottom of the legs from rotting due to our Irish weather :). But great job.

    Hi John. Looks great. I built something similar last year but used 2x4 for the frame and composite decking for the top. Put the price up but hopefully will last a while. Do you mind me asking where you got the cushions from? I'm in Wicklow and struggled to find anything of the size you have in the video. Hopefully the weather improves so we can actually use them. John I think you're tape measure might be broken, you said you was going to be making the seat height at 400mm or 39.5 inches 🤔 i think the markings upon the tape maybe printed wrong hahaha, hence why I think you're tape measure is broken 😉 😄. As alway's buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
    P.s it turned out pretty awesome even though you used a wonky tape measure 😉.

    Hi. I’ve watched this far too many times lol.
    The 12mm Brad point, so how far in would you go? I don’t think you said. And then would that be a 12mm plug cutter?? Or does it have to be slightly smaller. I take it you didn’t pre-drill for the screws going into these holes. Trying to find the right outdoor screws from such as screwfix. 75mm? There’s too many online. Thanks again!

    • @JohnMcGrathManInShed
      @JohnMcGrathManInShed  2 роки тому +1

      You only need to drill in about 10mm use a 12mm plug cutter, it should be the same size as the bit you used to drill the hole. I didn't pre drill it's not necessary with the screws I used. Riesser Cutter screws

    • @milkod2001
