Thanks for the kind words! The battery should last about two days with moderate usage. It's really difficult to quantify battery length as everyone uses the phone differently. Games will drain the battery quicker than internet browsing, and some apps running in the background will have an effect too. But overall the low powered chipset is pretty efficient. Hope this helps?
I took mine back to carphone warehouse and swapped it for the p10 lite and the difference was amazing. All the great features of the p8 but with 4gb ram and 32gb ROM and a much faster CPU. Well worth the extra money. It's a shame that the emui interface isn't removable and they seem to take ages to update the security updates. Thanks for your comments and see you in the next videos 😀
Iv been looking at buying this phone as my Samsung Note 4 has finally crashed after 3 years of use. For £129 it seems nothing short of amazing. At that price I can afford to change it every year compared to the 500 plus outlay on a high end phone. Excellent review
Hey if you think that is amazing try the P10 Lite for just £169.99 it has 4gb ram and 32gb storage a powerful eight core processor and it's what I use daily. I would highly recommend paying the extra. I did. Thanks for you comments and let us know which one you go with.
Interesting review, thanks. I bought a Huawei P10 last year and loved it, as I was setting it up, but I quickly discovered that I couldn't get my banking app to open and, on doing a bit of research found out that, that is a pretty common problem. Given that many of us do our banking from our phone quickly became a deal breaker. That, and the fact that USB C phones don't seem to want to sync with my Car Stereo :O( So, with a heavy heart I went back to Apple....I prefer Android,in so many ways, but Apple just works across the board with everything.
OMG that bloatware wow. Otherwise looks like a decent phone. A friend of mine just bought a Huawei phone and came from a iPhone. Says he likes it allot.
+WelshTony1's Unboxing, Reviews and Guides thanks Tony! Happy New years! I'm just about to hopefully get the p8 lite traded in for the p10 lite it seems a better option for an extra £40
"It feels pretty good in the hand" *Awkward look at the cameraman" Great video Mike, ordered mine off of eBay today, like new although it said a few light scratches on the screen, but I know now it's just the protector
Thanks for the input! Hope you enjoy the phone. It really is great for the money and looks far more expensive than it is. What do you use yours for mostly? Email? Internet? Gaming?
I've been using this for around 5 years and it's getting a bit slow now. Do you know decent UK smart phones I could nab for about 150-200 as I did with this one? Cheers.
Hi John, sorry to say that the full review won't be coming :-( Reason being that I mistakenly thought the phone had a fault with the microphone and had it replaced with a P10 lite. Is there anything in particular you wanted to know about the phone? I did use it for quite a while before it got returned. If you can squeeze a little more money from your wallet, bank, sofa or whatever I would seriously consider the p10 lite as a great option in fact that is my current daily driver. Don't get me wrong the p8 lite is a great phone, but the 16gb storage and 2gb ram was a concern if I'm honest. Another option if you are not scared of Chinese retailers, the xiaomi mi a1 is AMAZING for the same kind of money there is a 3gb 32gb model available for around £140 and is pure android, no emui or other bloat. Sorry for the long reply, but seriously if you want any advice or just someone to bounce ideas off, comment here or start a conversation on my Facebook page.
I have one don't buy it, that smartphone is a scam, you can't Install app on the SD card and Huawei deactivated memory fusion, basically you only have 5 go to Install your stuff it's super low and I never felt so fucked by a phone manufacturer knowing that I had a iPhone.
had this phone for about 8 months and i havent really enjoyed it much, battery is pretty bad, sometimes the phone is fast but it can freeze up a few times, especially on the camera app, and theres just not enough storage
So l got my £4.50 back!. Apparently it was for the apps updating in the background on the brand new phone and l didn't need to be connected to the internet for this updating or charge to occur. The phone is good but l prefer my HTC one M8.
So l turn my wifi off from my phone? l still get wifi connection and my apps still get updated. l don't know if this is a flaw on the phone or not but some of my apps kept on updating its self within the back ground which cost me a lot of money. l was advised to turn off my mobile data whilst connected to the internet, or not. The camera isn't good at all and trying to dis connect (which is very strange) from the internet drove me to stop using this phone altogether. It's just a poor mans smart phone. l find it unreal that l can't dis connect from wifi/internet on this phone.
probably all smart phones are doing this, it's un real because l dis connect from the internet from the settings, but it's still connected as l can access my google play account etc etc
Sadly it seems not in my region, although others have said they have an OTA update for Oreo. MY P10 Lite is also still waiting for Oreo! Huawei seem to failing their customers with regular updates. Unlike Nokia and to some extent Xiaomi who both release often. IF you are looking for a phone with fast updates, go for Nokia. Hope this helps?
Thanks a lot one more question , which would you choose between the P10 Lite and P8 lite 2017/honor 8 lite because I’m trying to decide which I should buy
+F.T.Y Trend I have the p10 lite as my daily driver, that is the phone I am using now. Better camera more ram more storage and better CPU and GPU. But nearly forty pounds dearer than the p8 lite here in the UK. I would have preferred the Xiaomi m1a1 but there's none in the UK and could'nt wait. I also had a Nokia 6 which was good but had a speaker fault. So around the £170 mark the p10 lite is my preference.
Nice one! That is a good price. I must have a look there and see what else is on offer. It's about time for an upgrade, although i am still pissed off with them over the massive customer data breach that has made using my credit card a nightmare! I have security checks on everything now! and it regularly gets stopped or blocked due to suspicious activity, otherwise known as me shopping in tesco :-(
Not to sure we received a letter this week from Curry's pc world / carphone warehouse regarding the breach and the steps they are taking. I'll try and dig it out and maybe post it on the Facebook page or discord server. Both of which you are more than welcome to join.
Yes if the SD card is installed at initial setup it will incorporate the card as main storage. If not it will allow more storage but as a external drive
+F.T.Y Trend it seems to charge pretty fast and easily lasts me two days medium use. Although heavy users will probably need a top up daily or leave it charging whilst sleeping. As it has a relatively low powered CPU is seems to sip power rather than chugging it
no case included in this one, but some people have reported getting a tpu case included, so maybe a regional thing? Certainly nothing in this Carphone Warehouse version. it did however come with a factory fitted screen protector, just clear film not a tempered glass one.
Overall I would say for the price 8 or 9 out of 10. It loses some marks for being 16gb although you can expand that for a few pounds. and the operating system is a bit marmite! I would have preferred to be able to remove the ui totally, but as the os can be skinned with any launcher that isn't really an issue more of a hinderance. It feels fast in use the camera is pretty good and the actual physical feel of the phone is great, very premium and slick. not a perfect phone for the money, but very close!
Yes the glass is scratch resistant. It does have gorilla glass (or similar) 2.5D front and back. It is sometimes a good idea to add some extra protection anyway like the tempered glass protectors like these amzn.to/2yIkPL2 Hopefully this answers your question and gives you extra options? Are you considering this phone? Have you also considered the p10 lite? It is more expensive (here in the UK anyway) but adds a lot more for your money, but with similar design language. You get a faster CPU 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which was my concern with the P8 Lite only having 2GB and 16GB. Can you stretch your budget to the P10 Lite? Or even the Xiaomi MI A1 which I just reviewed?
Damn that's not a great price. I'm not sure what the cost of living is there that will have a big difference in the "value" of items. But you live in a great country so it's not all bad 😀
Had this phone 8 months and it is utter garbage, fails to auto rotate... Comes to a stand still for no apparent reason, has vertical lines coming and going through the the screen then vanishes for a while. (do not buy this fucking phone, in fact don't buy any huawei phone)
Thanks for the reply, theses are just my opinions: (i) The design of glass being on the front and back makes it like a bar of soap, covered in oil; unusable (without a case). (ii) The speaker being at the bottom of the phone means if my finger strays anywhere near the bottom of the phone the person I'm calling can't hear me. (iii) The touch response is slow and the smallest amount of moisture on the screen makes it unusable. (iv) The build quality feels crap (even for the price, and Huawei are not known for their qa). (v) The finger print sensor for me was someting I stopped using, sometimes it would take 2-3 attempts - a pin works everytime, 1st time. (vi) Removed the home button, but no increase in screen real estate, black bar at the top and bottom of the phone. A badly designed phone, lacks everyday functionality for core tasks topped off with poor build quality. I bought it for £130, I see they have come down since I bought it, but the lack of "being a reliable and usable phone" makes it unattractive at any price.
Best review love it and can someone please tell me how is the battery on this phone how long does it last
Thanks for the kind words! The battery should last about two days with moderate usage. It's really difficult to quantify battery length as everyone uses the phone differently. Thank you very much it really helped love ur channel

Watching on my huawei p8 2017 gold
Nice!
I'm using this since last September it's a good phone n look premium. If only it have atleast 32gb of internal

So am I right now :-)
I've been using this for around 5 years and it's getting a bit slow now. Do you know decent UK smart phones I could nab for about 150-200 as I did with this one? Cheers.
nokia x10 maybe?
Hi Mike,
a great out of the box review, but when will you do tho full review, bay
Can't seem to find it.
Hi John, sorry to say that the full review won't be coming :-(

bought my p8 lite and installed my sim, it took £4 from sim without doing anything
Wow! Really that is messed up! Did you find out what the charge was for?
Not yet as l have just got my phone. Need to look into it. Waiting for my answer from giffgaff.
So l got my £4.50 back!. Apparently it was for the apps updating in the background on the brand new phone and l didn't need to be connected to the internet for this updating or charge to occur. The phone is good but l prefer my HTC one M8.
Glad you got your money back! Do you have the Oreo update on your p8 lite? Nothing on mine yet.
l've not used the wifi on my phone yet so l doubt it.
I'm watching it on my P8 Lite 2017 😂
Lol me too
Lol me too

probably all smart phones are doing this, it's un real because l dis connect from the internet from the settings, but it's still connected as l can access my google play account etc etc
It is connected to your mobile data, there is a separate toggle to turn that off.
I have a question
Will it be getting android 8 or the upcoming android 9
Sadly it seems not in my region, although others have said they have an OTA update for Oreo. MY P10 Lite is also still waiting for Oreo! Huawei seem to failing their customers with regular updates. Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to it does bro
Cant really get nokia 6 tho ...
Working with a low budget
How about the Xiaomi MiA1? Good price on gearbest?
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to thanx for the suggestion but the p8 lite 2017 is selling for 2000 south african rand(under £130
Okay that is about the same price as the Xiaomi over here in the UK. 😉
Thanks a lot one more question , which would you choose between the P10 Lite and P8 lite 2017/honor 8 lite because I’m trying to decide which I should buy

Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to how’s the Nokia 6 does it compare to the P10 Lite with the snapdragon 430
+F.T.Y Trend Snapdragon is a slower in general use, that was another reason to go to the p10 lite
Huawei p8 lite 2017 its better for your money but you may need an sd card
I got mine from carphone warehouse for 100 quid
Nice one! That is a good price. I must have a look there and see what else is on offer. I have security checks on everything now! and it regularly gets stopped or blocked due to suspicious activity, otherwise known as me shopping in tesco :-(
when was the data breach. I bought my S7 outright exactly one year ago in carphone warehouse using my credit card.
Not to sure we received a letter this week from Curry's pc world / carphone warehouse regarding the breach and the steps they are taking. I'll try and dig it out and maybe post it on the Facebook page or discord server. Both of which you are more than welcome to join.
How much is it?
You can buy used ones on Amazon for £109 or new from £147. Here is a link amzn.to/2xVAy91
ouhh thanks
Jed Princess Pilapil in South Africa its about 2000 rand
270$
Can you add Apps if you install a SD card?
Yes if the SD card is installed at initial setup it will incorporate the card as main storage. If not it will allow more storage but as a external drive
yes you can
How is the charge on the phone ?
+F.T.Y Trend it seems to charge pretty fast and easily lasts me two days medium use. Although heavy users will probably need a top up daily or leave it charging whilst sleeping. As it has a relatively low powered CPU is seems to sip power rather than chugging it
Uh, I have been leaving my phone on charge when I am asleep for 4 years now and I'm still alive.
Yeah I have been doing the same since my O2 XDA PDA phone. So about 20 years!
Does it come with a case and screen protector?
no case included in this one, but some people have reported getting a tpu case included, so maybe a regional thing? Certainly nothing in this Carphone Warehouse version. it did however come with a factory fitted screen protector, just clear film not a tempered glass one.
Yes I got one
Out of 10 what would you give the phone
Overall I would say for the price 8 or 9 out of 10. It loses some marks for being 16gb although you can expand that for a few pounds. and the operating system is a bit marmite! I would have preferred to be able to remove the ui totally, but as the os can be skinned with any launcher that isn't really an issue more of a hinderance. I have that phone
What is your opinion of the phone? How much did you pay?
Yay, me too!!!
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to its good a pretty decent phone for a 12 year old like me I love it
Morris Cramer cool😋
Can you give me battery life?
Is it nice?
Does this phone is a scratch resistant?
Yes the glass is scratch resistant. It does have gorilla glass (or similar) 2.5D front and back. It is sometimes a good idea to add some extra protection anyway like the tempered glass protectors like these amzn.to/2yIkPL2

Can you stretch your budget to the P10 Lite? Or even the Xiaomi MI A1 which I just reviewed?
Nope.
In my country it cost €179
what Country is that? Seems a little expensive?
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to
Its in Netherlands
Damn that's not a great price. I'm not sure what the cost of living is there that will have a big difference in the "value" of items. But you live in a great country so it's not all bad 😀

Thanks!
Bro it's not p8 lite
A box is a box!
Yep it is 😀 but what a nice box
iPhone 7 doesn’t have a glass back
+F.T.Y Trend yep true i was thinking of something else entirely 😀
Pinch the homescreen outwards and see something that will change your life
I wish i still had the phone now! What happens?
@@mikesunboxing you get a hidden area where you can put apps and no one will know
oh wow that is cool!
This phone doesn't have a working gyroscope, given that my 4 year old Motorola g2 had one I'm disappointed .
Shame that it has excluded this from the specs. Although is it really needed?
Had this phone 8 months and it is utter garbage, fails to auto rotate... Comes to a stand still for no apparent reason, has vertical lines coming and going through the the screen then vanishes for a while. (do not buy this fucking phone, in fact don't buy any huawei phone)
Ive owned this phone for a year and it's horrendous, total shite. Going back to ye'oldie S3.
It shouldn’t be that bad. I thought it was close to S4 or G4 but the ram does seem to hold it back. Thanks for your vivid thoughts 😂
Thanks for the reply, theses are just my opinions:

Agree with most of that. That is why I changed it for the p10 lite which is a completely different experience
I have that phone
