I'm 16, and I started off with a full sized electric guitar when I was twelve. I eventually moved to an acoustic and I can now do both. I am determined to keep learing and honestly, playing guitar is awesome, and a great stress reliever. :)
The mentions he makes of prices but doesn't mention that you can get a quality electric guitar at a pawn shop for the same price as an acoustic. All depends on what you want to play. If your all about classical, strumming along while you sing then go for acoustic. But if you want to learn metal, rock, blues, etc. go for an electric. Either one you won't regret it.
Was gonna buy acoustic but when i got in the store i was inspired by the designs of electric guitars it feels more comfortable and end up buying one. didnt regret starting it electric tho

i got an acoustic 2 weeks ago. got an electric 6 days ago. i like that i can take the acoustic anywhere and play, and i like how i can hook my electric up to my interface and have unlimited tone possibilities. the acoustic was $30 from craigslist and the electric was $50 from craigslist, and i got a Focusrite Scarlett from a pawn shop for $50. I havent been bored all week haha
Honestly if i were a beginer again? I would buy an acoustic for 150 to 200$ Proly yamaha or takamine If money is not an issue buy an electric 200-250 and a small amp, its very easy to play in comparison with the acoustic. Acoustics are the hardest to be honest. I got a fender for 100 as my 1st guit and it was unplayable, stayed with it for a year and then bought a Fg 730 for 330. Im staying right here :D
I would get acoustic. They're generally cheap, and harder to play very well. That's why if you learn on acoustic you will be a badass on electric because you made it sound good without hiding behind the sound of the amp. Other than that your choice
Love your lessons Andy. Keep up the good work mate! I have an FG700MS. I cannot believe that I put up with that Fender acoustic for so long. For electrics, I have a Yam Pacifica 012 and an Epiphone LP100. Both great "value-for-money" electrics. But my favourite has to be the Yammy acoustic!
I see a lot of comments here asking about which guitar someone would recommend that they get. Andy is right in his video in saying that a guitar is personal and my recommendation is that first you work out your budget for the instrument. Then ask yourself what type of music do I like, and what styles of guitar are used for that type of music? Then go to a music store (or several) and try as many as you can even if it is a same model that you have tried before. Each individual guitar is as individual as each person, and when you find the right one you will know. The main thing for a beginner is that when you see it you want to pick it up and play it.
I think the reason many beginners pick acoustic guitars is because the are usually quieter than an electric with an amp, and therefore parents will encourage acoustics. However, and electric guitar does not require an amp to be played, thus making buying an acoustic for noise purposes unnessesary. I also find an electric guitar easier to play, which makes it more fun to play, and will encourage more playng.
I remember walking into Sam Ash, young and foolish, I did no research. I picked up a guitar that was not only a great price, but that looked beautiful, the perfect idea of what a guitar should be. It was the incredible Yamaha FG730. I got lucky. My guitar chose me.
Some Acoustic Guitars have Pickups added (Acoustic-Electrics) so you can hook them up to an amp & having a built in tuner will make tuning easier. Some Electric Guitars have a built in amp such as the Vox Apache & what's very clever is that they mark the control knobs.
Really thank you..... Solved all the doubts..... I haven't even picked up the guitar but saw all ur beginera videos.... This video has a clear prospective which I didn't get somewhere else
Cheers bro. This video cleared up alot for me. I have been wanting to get an electric guitar because I love rock and band music but thought an electric would be harder to play
Because you teach how to play I would like to make one point. Learning how to "setup" a guitar is just as important as learning how to play a guitar!!! There's only two circumstances I could justify letting someone else setup a guitar: after the initial purchase when beginning to learn; or if a defect/problem is suspected. Andy, you should be including this in your lessons. Lastly, Thank you for taking the time to do these videos.
The neck is the most important part of a guitar, because the neck is the part where you're fingers can make the difference to make the guitar play like easy or somehow more difficult to play! Try out the frets and how easy they are to slide from one chord to another. Sometimes you'lll find that some frets on one guitar are more easy to slide instead of those on an other guitar. Most of all, make sure your first guitar feels just right when holding it in your arms.
Thank you for this very infomative video. I bought a $300 fender for my first guitar and then my brother got me a Taylor 214ce for my birthday and the fender started to collect dust. UNTIL I wanted to learn Rain Song by Zeppelin which has crazy tuning that I didn't want to change to all the time on my Taylor. I took the guitar to a shop and asked them to make it better and they really did. Changing the action alone was huge. New strings Huge. Just like you said, $54 dollars turned it into a $800 dollar guitar and it plays awesome. Love your sense of humor and personality. I hope you get your dream guitar really soon.
That was actually great advise. Thank you. I used to play a bit on my dads cheap guitar here and there but I‘m still a bloody beginner without a guitar. Now I want to start taking it more seriously. This Saturday I‘m going to drive an hour to a big music store, to pick up my first own guitar. I thought about going for an electrical guitar, but wasn’t really sure - but your advise helped! So again; thank you for your advise and insight.
Should I purchase a better quality guitar since I've been playing for about 7 years and that I believe that getting a guitar of better quality, will improve the sound and experience?
If you want a beginner guitar that will accomodate you even when you go intermediate, I highly recommend Yamaha, they sound and feel great while being more on the affordable side.
In my opinion the best acoustic guitars for the $$$ are: 1.) Yamaha FS650MS - Natural @ $139 2.) Epiphone DR-100 - Vintage Sunburst @ $100 The best electric guitars for the $$$ are: 1.) PRS SE Mark Tremonti - Vintage Cherry or Black with Birds @ $545 2.) PRS SE-245 Soapbar - Black @ $545 ...the rationale for the PRS? Consider that the PRS SE models are all made in South Korea under the strictest quality control standards in the marketplace, these guitars were designed by Paul Smith, but lets not forget that Paul's mentor and guiding hand in the beginning days was former Gibson President-CEO Ted McCarty , who was responsible for the Gibson influence of the Les Paul's with "Humbucker pickups" and the SG guitars which brought about the use of solid body guitars with humbucker pickups much the same as they are known today, with some notable design changes. In my opinion, the electric guitar with a good Fender Mustang II-V-2 @)W practice amplifier @ $100 is always the best bet, it will be easier to play, sound better overall, and set you on the path to become at least a guitar player, and possibly best in the next generation of a Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, or Edward Van Halen...or maybe even Slash....
My Epiphone LP 100 chose me, remotely. Turned out to be a spectacularly well built guitar. After two whole weeks of video and forum digging, starting from ZERO knowledge and ending with everything up to setups, I had this general idea about Epiphone, two pickups with a full set of knobs, carved top and bolt-on. This was the only one that fit the bill, the only top-level bolt-on in fact. So I ordered it. The only one left in vintage sunburst, waiting for me in their two-week old new shop as a display. Got a decent discount for the fact, even if I had to wait for them to pull it back to the warehouse. I did end up with a couple of Höfner Shortys too, but that's a whole new story.
is the acoustic guitar he has called " Yamaha FG700S " because I think it looks like the guitar I had my eyes on for 2 days now, might be my first acoustic actually :-)
Nice down to earth introduction for beginners. I would make one correction though, and that is there are a lot of steel stringed guitars with slotted head stocks (as you say, head stocks with holes in them). These are smaller bodied guitars, orchestra and parlor style guitars, and virtually all 12 fret guitars. Smaller bodied guitars are frequently more comfortable for beginners. I'm not sure why people generally only talk about dreadnaughts. But parlor size and orchestra size steel stringed guitars with slotted head stocks are a good option for beginners too.
I bought my first guitar about 1/2 a year ago. I bought a Yamaha FG700s (Sandburst color). I love it. I've been teaching myself and I love your lessons. They are awesome! Thanks :D
i basically went on gumtree and bought a cheapo acoustic for a tenner. To my fellow beginners i will say don't think too much about the type of guitar early on, just make sure you get one and play.
I got both, in between my writing, I like to occasionally pick up the guitar and have fun. I say it depends on the mood I'm in. Sometimes I feel that a good old fashion acoustic is all I need. Of course, when I really want to rock out hard, I grab my electric guitar. I think brands are just nothing but labels, as long as the guitar looks, feels, sounds good and is comfortable for you then who cares what brand it is.
Even if it isn't the type of guitar you were after, sometimes you just can't argue with a good price though. I'd been learning bass for a while now and spotted an Ashton Classical Guitar (Aussie guitar brand, nylon strung) in great nick at a local market, talked the fella from $40 down to $20, and fitted some new strings to it. It wasn't what I was after, but it certainly grew on me. The little Ashton's got a pretty rich tone and big volume to it for something with nylon strings. Very good run down on the two, mate. You've just scored yourself a new subscriber. You didn't mention though that changing the strings can give a totally different tone too.
I'm 15 and I on the Acoustic, I play descently not that great but not that bad either. I'm kinda rusty as of now because my first guitar broke its neck and I wasn't able to repair it anymore. I'm kinda wanting to buy an Electric (Les Paul's are so sexy), I was so attracted to the electric because of Blues type of music. I always wanted to learn Blues and I am planning on saving money to buy one.
One thing that warrants mention, an acoustic/electric can be used with Rocksmith, while a straight acoustic, cannot. So for those looking to supplement lessons, it may be of some value if you plan on using any software type lessons. Thanks, for all the videos.
If you're not sure, electric guitars can sound like acoustic if your amp has the settings on it. I picked electric since it has more sounds. I know they are both fragile but acoustics look and feel more fragile.
Bro .. Kindly make one video explaining difference between Acoustic guitar vs Arch top guitar ... What's the main differences ... ??? I searched alot ... No one had given a good satisfied explanation videos ... Till now . 😢😢😓😩☹️
Thank you for posting this video, you just gave me lots of informations :) Well, I'm 25 years old and I want to learn the electric guitar (I will receive a Yamaha Pacifica 012) and I haven't play on guitar before, and I don't want to learn on acoustic first :( Please give me your opinion :) Thanks in advance...
Acoustic is the way for beginners to go because there’s no distractions with all the cool pedals and different tones. And you can’t kick in the overdrive or fuzz to cover up mistakes. I highly recommend practicing with a pick and also without a pick. I started playing classical so I took Segovia’s words to heart so I used a lot of nail. Then I learned to play flamenco and gut string, etc, but I also made sure to practice practicing with a pick for at least 2 hours a day. By this time I was playing my Tele, clean toned stuff, and i’d Practice alternate picking, sweep picking, down picking all hetfield, claw picking, slide guitar, lap steel, everything. Whatever was the most uncomfortable for me, I’d practice the most. I learned to play 2 malmsteen songs and the most famous vai and Satriani songs but it was malmsteens economy picking that took me a long time but it allows for incredible speed without muting, every note rings clear. Also learned cliffs of Dover and some of the wonkier jazz fusion guys songs. I want to learn every style.
To be honest, if you want a real start off, go and try classical guitar- Grade 1 and 2. I started off playing classical for two years and it really does help. It helps train your fingers (great to learn fingerstyle) and you learn a lot of music theory and in my opinion, it will set you off better.
i feel as though you should start with an electric guitar. My teacher had students that started with acoustic and their finger started bleeding and quit. The electric should just be for practice in the beginning (for as you probably wont play gigs on your first day), and transitioned toward the acoustic later as you get better
I have the same question. I'm 14 years old and I really want to learn how to play guitar. I am 100% sure that I don't want a classical guitar, but I can't decide between acoustic and electric. All of my friend who play guitar tell me to buy an acoustic first and get the electric guitar later. This video is AWESOME, but I need some more opinions from people who play guitar. Help, please?
For me, get an electric. Its easier, and gives you more sound options (and to me, looks cooler- which matters!) But, you asked for opinions other than mine. Plenty on this list already, anyone else want to share their views?
Andy Crowley I bought my first guitar when I was 14. I bought a Yamaha FG700s. Its an acoustic guitar. I talked to a couple of guitarists at stores and they said that an electric guitar is easier to play than an acoustic. Because an electric guitar is skinner than an acoustic and the strings are easier to press down. But they also said its all on preference. I personally think that everyone should start out with an acoustic. There is so much you can do with the acoustic and once you get the acoustic guitar down the electric might seem easier. The other reason I think you should start with the acoustic is because you don't have to worry about an amp. You can also take it anywhere. My dad works shifts so I'll sit on my deck and play it or I'll quietly play it downstairs. But like the guys at the guitar shop said, it's all on preference. If you just want to play electric songs, then get an electric. Although acoustic guitar is in alot of songs also. I hoped this helps. I tried to stay non-biased. Although I'd go with the acoustic guitar to start out with. Good Luck. And if you do start playing, stick with it!! It is SO rewarding once you get that first song down pat. It will be hard, but it is one of the best feelings in the world to play.
I had a classical and put acoustic strings and my fingers were break but still learned to play every song once I picked up an electric it felt soooo easy also I now own a fender stratocaster and I've own an electric guitar and a acoustic electric are easier on your hands more diverse & if you buy a cheap acoustic you can't fix it so most cheap acoustics the strings are too high from the fretboard and you can't fix it but with electrics you can & electrics are cheaper and look sexy I'm 14 btw as well
Thank you so much, I wasn't too sure what I wanted before this video because I'm just starting out but I listen to metal and have a passion for rock so I was really glad that I could actually decide on buying an electric with this video!
I've been playing someone else's acoustic for a while and been thinking "if I get an acoustic of my own first, then later on I can get an electric when I've improved some more", but now I really just want to invest in the electric guitar instead. Thanks!
I want to get an acoustic guitar, for like covers of songs like Once upon a December from anastasia, anime themes, How to train your dragon, etc. Which guitar would be good for that?
Just bought an electric guitar. Got an epiphone les paul style guitar for $60 (not a scratch on it) and a really decent amp (line 6 spider 3 75 watt) for $150. For what I know how to do the guitar sounds great and the amp is WAY more then I'll need for a very long time. Definitely enough to piss off the neighbors. So budget way to go I'd say check your local pawn shops and then take it across the street to the guitar guy and have him change the strings and what not. The guy in the shop said he'll sell the same guitars multiple times cause parents bring them right back when their kid gets sick of it. Lol. Thanks for the video BTW.
@Andy Crowley when you're talking through the electric ones, you keep comparing yours to other ones pointing in the air. I'm guessing you had a picture of others to compare to? I'm kind of lost haha.
In my opinion a lot of electric guitars under £200 (cheapos from cash converter/generator/eBay) are not very playable and make you want to quit considering you are moving on to electric (not all of them, the Yamaha Pacifica is a good example) good electric guitars for around the mark are "squire classic vibes" or "epiphone les Paul's" I tried out a brand called "vintage" and they do quality les paul copys for around £250 with fret binding and trapezium inlays, Second hand is also an option, try grabbing a second hand "squier classic vibe" and pay a bit extra quid to get it set up and you will have yourself a good electric guitar, another thing I have to say is get a nice amp (second hand is usually best) like a line 6 or any thing with "modeling" capabilities .e.g sfx built in (for practicing at home or jamming with friends, 15 W is usually on good grounds with drum sound level) . So all together if you want a really good nice rig for electric guitar and you're moving up from acoustic you're looking to spend maybe £350-£400 for a very capable rig £200-250 on the guitar £80-100-150 on amp expenses... It's a lot of money during these hard Times, but you will thank yourself if you are definite and serious about guitar playing (it's best to try before you buy) but in the end this is my opinion ( I started on a Yamaha 12 string and then decided to work for a second hand fender 70's Tele deluxe)
I got a Washburn dreadnought acoustic for starting off, then later bought me a epiphone casino, thinking of buying a rosewood fender telecaster. it's been 5 years since I bout the acoustic
Just to add another recommendation,Washburn acoustics are inexpensive to moderately priced ,but are some of the finest guitars i have ever owned and played. they,re all well made from the cheapies to the dearest ones. They feel substantial and play like a dream. Yamaha as well are absolutely brilliant value pretty much from bottom end to top. Hope you keep up the videos.as they're always entertaining as well as informative. Cheers
The mindset of my parents is very weird. They think that the price of guitar is cheap. If I say a guitar of $200 they will start scolding me and say that you are not in a band that you need a very expensive guitar. My dad has a $300 mobile which is much more expensive than the guitar I have for the last 2 years. My guitar price is *$60* . How ba dah?
I've heard great things about the Les Paul standard! I'm also in the market for my first electric (as an adult anyway) and the Les Paul Standard is looking like a great value for the money, but without much quality compromise. :) Nice to know you can upgrade the pickups too. I'm curious to hear about amps you like but maybe you have a video on that too. I heard you mention the Orange and another.
I saw a video on UA-cam by someone else who was giving information about guitars who stated that if you are thinking about an acoustic electric guitar it is better to get one that comes that way instead of adding the electrics to a guitar after the fact. According to the other person, adding it after the fact is not going to sound the same as it would for an acoustic guitar that came with the electrics already built-in. I don't know if that other person is right or not but Andy is right in saying it is probably better to save some money and get the acoustic electric later after you know if you are sticking with playing a guitar and may be planning to perform on a stage.
Why nobody mentions Epiphone for acoustic guitars I dont know... They are quality made guitars and can get an electro acoustic around £100. I have an AJ100 CE. The action could do with some lowering but still great for the price. I played far more expensive acoustic fenders and didnt feel as good to me. Best acoustic I have played was a Tanglewood but we are talking £300+
don't have one particular style of electric guitar. I like all of them but i like Warlock, V, and Z guitars a bit more because they seem more wild and different. The Les Paul's and Fenders are nice and classical, but i see them EVERYWHERE and i just think the more wild styles are cooler and less common.
I started on a mate's 3/4 size classical guitar (I think it was an Aria) and it was fine. I mostly played sort of early rock and roll/rockabilly stuff (because it was easier) and it sounded fine.
This was a great video for me. My mom wants me to play the acoustic guitar but I really want to play the electric guitar. This may help convince my mom that electric guitar is better.
Great video and great advice! I agree that people should go with what they feel they want to do. I just ordered my first ever guitar... I went for an electric... it's a Epiphone Les Paul Standard, I can't wait to get playing and learning! Anyways keep up the great videos mate!
Very good explanations Andy on what to buy etc Thankyou. Couple of years ago I bought a Mexican strat which has good pickups, and just recently bought (Treated) myself to a 12 string Eko Ranger which sounds great. The reason I also bought the Eko is I'd like to master some of the acoustic music also, I'm basically a beginner although I took courses at my local college a few years ago but never played since. I'm keen again to get started. I'll click onto your lessons and see how I get on. Will let you know...Cheers Dave
Thank you, thought electric, but got a acoustic fender fa100, didn't feel it fit well with what I wanted so sold it and got an ibanez AEG 10N II BK electric classical guitar. It's awesome I have built some nice calluses so it's not about soft fingers. Would have been nice to see classical guitars mentioned more. Much softer sound ideal for what I want so one day I can just play at family get togethers. The nylon strings are brilliant if they have served Willie Nelson so well over the years they are more versatile than many think. :) I love your videos by the way. Just think that you may be underestimating a good classical guitar. Thanks! Dave
+David D. Stanton My instructor had some expensive nylon strings ordered from Japan and they sounded much brighter than regular nylon strings + I know a woman who plays professionally rock pop on classical guitar. There is no wrong way. I gave away my folk guitar but I wouldn't give away my classical guitar. You have to steal it because I don't give it away.
Thanks a lot for this video! It was very informative and helpful. I'm going to start playing the Guitar soon and your videos seem informative so I'm definitely going to subscribe!
I got my strato fender with one out of six strings busted from a pawn shop for 85 but the guy let me keep twenty of the 85,prolly cause he knew it would take up store space and I really liked it. So now I'm stuck with a internally jacked guitar and I'm attempting self repair with the internet and neighbors who owned a guitar at one point....next Jimmy Hendrix on the way...
It sound wierd with acoustic guitar. So if you want to play rock songs I recommend electric. If you are starting out it doesn't matter. It's preference
I have skinny arms, and fully size guitars look odd on me 😂 so I have a 3/4. But, I also have big hands that also look odd with a 3/4. Me, I don't care if I look odd. I have a Yamaha JR2 and I'm 13. :) ❤️
I had the same thought when I was planning to buy my first guitar! IMO electric guitar is much more complicated because you have to buy amps, set up the guitar to sound, so I got myself a Yamaha FG700S acoustic guitar. 3 years has passed and now I'm selling it to buy an electric guitar. I realized that I like rock songs and I've never felt excited whenever I'm playing an acoustic guitar. Do you have a recommendation of electric guitars for beginners? My idol is Slash, so I'm thinking about Epiphone Les Pauls, but my budget is kinda tight.
Thanks honestly helped me decide haven't got it yet, but im probably gonna get an electric guitar and ill just be starting out so i hope i can learn how to actually play. And i subscribed

do you NEED an amp for electric?

If money is not an issue buy an electric 200-250 and a small amp, its very easy to play in comparison with the acoustic. Acoustics are the hardest to be honest.

FG700MS, a great budget guitar!
Love my yamaha
I have a fg700s great guitar
Love your lessons Andy. Keep up the good work mate!
I have an FG700MS. I cannot believe that I put up with that Fender acoustic for so long.
For electrics, I have a Yam Pacifica 012 and an Epiphone LP100. Both great "value-for-money" electrics. But my favourite has to be the Yammy acoustic!
My buddy told me to stay away from yamaha guitars...
They are no Fender guitars but excellent bang-for-buck. I have never had problems with either of my Yams.
You summed it up very well!
Have so much trouble playing guitars. Imma just stick with my ukulele because I'm somewhat descent at that lol
So uhh it's been a year hows that going?
Ya
You need to get a adjusted guitar and dedication and your favorite guitar (electric or acoustic) and it will be easier
Hahshahahahah
Got any girl's panties wet yet?
+The Lone Hunt Great stuff. My les paul sure chose me!
Hey honey I’m good honey
Some Acoustic Guitars have Pickups added (Acoustic-Electrics) so you can hook them up to an amp & having a built in tuner will make tuning easier. Some Electric Guitars have a built in amp such as the Vox Apache & what's very clever is that they mark the control knobs.

+Will Marvellous The answer to should you buy another guitar is always yes ;)
If you want a beginner guitar that will accomodate you even when you go intermediate, I highly recommend Yamaha, they sound and feel great while being more on the affordable side.
Thanks a lot Andy! Ordering my Squier Stratocaster guitar pack as we speak, couldn't have chosen a guitar without your help.
Great choice dude, strats rock
In my opinion the best acoustic guitars for the $$$ are: 1.) Yamaha FS650MS - Natural
@ $139 2.) Epiphone DR-100 - Vintage Sunburst @ $100
The best electric guitars for the $$$ are: 1.) PRS SE Mark Tremonti - Vintage Cherry or Black with Birds @ $545 2.) PRS SE-245 Soapbar - Black @ $545 ...the rationale for the PRS?
Electric Guitars are great for beginners due to easier action. Some have a built in amplifier so that they're even easier "Flip the Switch".
Stumbled across this in 2020. Man!! Haven’t you come a long way? 🤘
I always wanted to learn Blues and I am planning on saving money to buy one.
appreciate you making these channels without them I'd be stuck, actually learnt so much, cheers x
my Lyon by Washburn has a laminated top but it sounds really nice. I am very well pleased with the sweet mellow, warm sound it makes.
Till now .
😢😢😓😩☹️
Thank you for posting this video, you just gave me lots of informations :)
Well, I'm 25 years old and I want to learn the electric guitar (I will receive a Yamaha Pacifica 012) and I haven't play on guitar before, and I don't want to learn on acoustic first :(
Please give me your opinion :)
Thanks in advance...
I'd definitely go acoustic. You can like take it anywhere and don't need an amp
you dont need a big amp you can go for those amps that plug in and is like as big as a phone
Vox Amplug
Colby Bryan yay my acoustic fam :)
Acoustic
I had a classical and put acoustic strings and my fingers were break but still learned to play every song once I picked up an electric it felt soooo easy also I now own a fender stratocaster and I've own an electric guitar and a acoustic electric are easier on your hands more diverse & if you buy a cheap acoustic you can't fix it so most cheap acoustics the strings are too high from the fretboard and you can't fix it but with electrics you can & electrics are cheaper and look sexy I'm 14 btw as well
Go for acoustic first because most of what you play on acoustic you can play on an electric and it's easier to play an acoustic first in my opinion
THANKYOU I'm now set on getting an acoustic guitar for my birthday and I've subscribed to you my good sir
It's been 4 years still no comment, now that's a lil sad my guy.
Been 5 years now
Can I compare it like this? Acoustic guitar is kind of like learning how to drive a stick. And then electric guitar is like driving an automatic.
Andy - just love your stuff as an old codger learner - thank you so much mate!
@Andy Crowley when you're talking through the electric ones, you keep comparing yours to other ones pointing in the air. I'm guessing you had a picture of others to compare to? I'm kind of lost haha.
Prerak Patel he couldnt put images on the video, he had annotated links to his website where the pictures were
In my opinion a lot of electric guitars under £200 (cheapos from cash converter/generator/eBay) are not very playable and make you want to quit considering you are moving on to electric (not all of them, the Yamaha Pacifica is a good example) good electric guitars for around the mark are "squire classic vibes" or "epiphone les Paul's" I tried out a brand called "vintage" and they do quality les paul copys for around £250 with fret binding and trapezium inlays, Second hand is also an option, try grabbing a second hand "squier classic vibe" and pay a bit extra quid to get it set up and you will have yourself a good electric guitar, another thing I have to say is get a nice amp (second hand is usually best) like a line 6 or any thing with "modeling" capabilities .e.g sfx built in (for practicing at home or jamming with friends, 15 W is usually on good grounds with drum sound level) .
How ba dah?

Still need a guitar bro?
I really need this video because my brother is a guitarist and I'm buying myself one tomorrow
don't have one particular style of electric guitar. I like all of them but i like Warlock, V, and Z guitars a bit more because they seem more wild and different. The Les Paul's and Fenders are nice and classical, but i see them EVERYWHERE and i just think the more wild styles are cooler and less common.
Got my first acoustic for £30. Still got it and it's COOL
im kinda small im a 14 year old should i get a smaller or a bigger guitar ive seen my friends full size guitar and its kinda huge
get a big one for sure
بنت انتي، في طيور، الجنه
buy full size you will grow it out or buy a Taylor they are small
Full size
Im 14 too
3:50 me after i had no idea and bought guitar with nylon strings and now i'm following your lessons and nothing i play sounds like yours 🙂💔
So how good are you at classical guitar now ?
I started on a mate's 3/4 size classical guitar (I think it was an Aria) and it was fine. I mostly played sort of early rock and roll/rockabilly stuff (because it was easier) and it sounded fine.
Great stuff mate! I just bought my first guitar and can't wait to start learning!
electric or acoustic?
It depends on what music/sound you like. I think electric is better because you can get different and more sounds.
I just got that FG with a case for just over £200 new and it sounds great.
I got a Taylor Big Baby acoustic for about 1/2 off. It sounds AMAZING! Great guitar if you have the money
For acoustic I have a George Washburn I'm not sure whether or not to upgrade on my acoustic but my electric I believe is fine (gretsch)
Thoroughly enjoyed your inputs. Thanks 👍🏻
Mugs game wrong first Guitar Electric is the way to go just starting my journey the lighter strings on Electric makes it Easier?
You sure about the classical guitar being not good enough for rock? Megadeth did a metal song that used one in and it was great.
But it's rare to get full wooden acoustic guitar ..these days .. and it's really costly on Indian price for the branded like this one
I just got 70 poumd beginner acoustic guitar I love it.
Thanks a lot for this video! It was very informative and helpful. I'm going to start playing the Guitar soon and your videos seem informative so I'm definitely going to subscribe!
Since when did Hendrix and Clapton play Les Pauls?
I am a girl with some smaaaaaall hands and I'm determined to play the electric guitar. Can you recommend some? Thanks!
strat's are perfect for begginers and people with small hands
I got my strato fender with one out of six strings busted from a pawn shop for 85 but the guy let me keep twenty of the 85,prolly cause he knew it would take up store space and I really liked it. So now I'm stuck with a internally jacked guitar and I'm attempting self repair with the internet and neighbors who owned a guitar at one point....next Jimmy Hendrix on the way...
My friend said I should start on acoustic, then get an electric. I dont mind, I can play Oasis and a few guns n roses songs with an acoustic
Thanks
get a fender stratocaster! best guitar ever made , especially the american standard one!
I bought an electro-acoustic guitar for the price of a simple one. That's worth it right?
Why not both?
Tooooo good sir andy. I have learnt so many things from your videos
