I remember visiting training camp in Rocklin that summer. I met Ronnie Lott, Russ Francis, Dwight Hicks and saw so many others. It was a great core memory traveling from the Sunset District in SF to Rocklin. It felt like we were driving across the country. Ironically, I now live just a few miles from that old training camp in Rocklin.

For all practical purposes, Stanford Stadium was the home field for the 49ers for that SB game, and it was in the Bay Area, just some 30 miles south of Candlestick Park. It's not unlike the 1975 Warriors having played two of the 1975 NBA Finals games at the Cow Palace instead of the Oakland Arena. That alone gave the NBA Championship of that year to San Francisco, not Oakland. No, it would be nice if the Giants could win a final WS game at home!
