Yes my guy. Agreed. .... So modern and sophisticated too.... It's a joy to hear every time. Yes it really accelerates like mad. But lately these trains have been moving slowly on most routes when I go spotting. I assume it's due to driver training. I see 2 people in the driver's cabs on most occasions.
I agree with the kid, that sounds awesome. Kenilworth station in this video brought back so many memories of when me and my cousins and their parents took the train in 2003 to Fish Hoek station during the December holidays
Thanks a lot man. Much appreciated. Yes please do so. Southern Line and Cape Flats lines are the best. But if you want a seaside trip, Southern Line definitely.
Good to know you are coming to SA. It is safe as there are security guards on board. But I would suggest having 2 or 3 people with you. Just remain vigilant. Even though I travel alone, I don't let my guard down. Alternatively check this out and their page in Instagram instagram.com/reel/CzliZP5q_Wg/?igsh=MXZ1NzZqOHFrNm41eQ==
Hi, since 15 January a normal set has been operating as 0103 and 0108 according to a service advisory on Metrorail's Telegram Channels. When I pass Retreat Station (Quite often on the train shown in this video), I see only the 10M3, not the 5M2A .It is possible it was the one used on the Cape Flats Line to Retreat, I wonder what the difference between XPlus and MetroPLUS is on 10M3 sets.
Hi there. .... I too have seen that the set was not there and then again both sets not there when I travelled from Hazendal to Retreat. Sometimes during the off peak the old sets are used. I am not too sure about the differences unless it was just a better name. I assume X Plus had forward and rear facing seats whereas MetroPLUS had 3rd class style seats with a piece of material on it...... and the XPlus name appeared on the 10M5 sets only if I am not mistaken.
I rode on Metrorail train 2 Fridays ago FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 5 YEARS to Cape Town and the train that arrived was this Xtrapolis train. It was so spacious you could see and walk right through into the next carriages unlike the trains in the past that has tiny doors between carriages, the only thing I disliked about this train is I miss the clanking sounds and the bounces of the train wheels as the old trains was not as smooth as this one. I know it sounds strange but that is what made trains exciting for me hearing all that clanking and grinding sounds
Lovely stuff man. Glad to hear. Indeed. It's nice to see right through and entire set....... Yes that's true. Agreed. I have to keep my ears tuned in for those sounds especially when the train approaches Heathfield Station from the Cape Flats Line and crosses into the Southern Line.
Yo....Yes. So far. I have travelled alone and sometimes with a few friends or family members. I would suggest that if you want to try it take one or two people with you.
I think it's so awesome when kids get excited 😂 especially when they're on public transport ,great to see. It brings back memories when we were young.
Fully agreed👍. Nostalgia for days. Similar feeling to when the old red and beige sets were being painted yellow.
For some reason this reminds me a lot of the Melbourne xtrapolis 100s which makes me happy. Good video too btw
True yes. I have seen those and they look good. Thanks a lot. Much appreciated.
"Please mind the platform gap" such a caring train.😊😁Awesome video. I just love the smooth excelleration of these EMUs

Thanks so much man. I appreciate it.
I am visiting Cape Town January 2024 and would like to ride a suburban train but wonder how safe it would be for a European visitor of mature age.
