The first 6 seconds of Caught is EXTREMELY EPIC!! Honestly, if the main notes of the song were "heavier" with a little less of a NES vibe, I think it could have been better than the original.
I think it'd be better if the last half didn't exist. I really like the fact that they went for the calm melody rather than the epic one, but that storm of random noises just kills it for me.
I don't dislike Apollo Justice because you don't play as Phoenix...In fact, I really like Apollo as a character. The first case in Apollo Justice was so awesome, (although it kinda sucked how Apollo took the back seat) but the rest were mediocre to downright awful. On a not as related note, I would love to see a prequel to the Ace Attorney series called "Diego Armando: Ace Attorney" that takes place around 2011-2012 that follows Godot's career as a defense attorney...That would kick so much ass....
Caught has a few songs over it along with being one of the weaker Pursuit themes in the series. I namely prefer Never-Ending Overture, The Fragrance of Dark Coffee and my favorite song in the game, The Bitter Taste of Truth.
So, with Dai Gyakuten Saiban being out, quite a number of people have been wondering where it would place. To be honest, it would be #3, right behind Cornered. Now all that's left is Spirit of Justice's when the full version comes out with no trailer sound effects. And this list is still the same, just turning it into a Top 9. Cornered - Spell Breaker/Casting magic gets WAY too much hate "it doesn't sound like a pursuit theme" no... it sounds exactly like a pursuit theme should going with the music direction for Layton vs. Wright.
it also goes very well with the story.its not a phoenix wright-game where you prove something unthinkable(even tho you kinda do in the finale,lol xD),its a layton game where you are reaching the big storyclimax.so i dont see why it should feel like a regular pursuittheme as there is nothing to really pursuit in the traditional phoenix wright-sence if this statement makes any sence at all
The original Pursuit theme was ALWAYS going to be in the Top 3, regardless of who did a video like this. Whether by nostalgia, classical tastes, or simply originality. Pursuit - Cornered started a legacy of incredible games that made being a defence attorney or a prosecutor ACTUALLY LOOK like a legitimately enjoyable profession! And that is impressive enough!
Finally someone who ranks Wanting to Find Out the Truth over Cornered! It is a better track, hands down. Wanting to Find Out the Truth has a better feeling of accomplishment than Cornered in my opinion. It rewards your efforts really well. Cornered plays at the perfect spots, but Wanting to Find Out the Truth does it even better. The most memorable parts for me was when SPOILERS Courtney indicts Blaise and when Sebastian gets his shit together for the final time to present the final evidence against Blaise. I fucking jumped on both occasions because of the epicness of those parts. The hype you get when this tune kicks in is one of, if not the best, moments in the entire franchise :)
When I hear conered I feel so good showing my evidence, rather than the theme it slower and yes it might be more emotinal but, I prefer cornered because how intense it is and presenting the evidence and watching the witness freak out feels so good.
I appreciate this guy's opinion but if u ask me, pursuit cornered deserves 1# spot, not because of nostalgia, but because it really sums up Phoenix's character, the moment it plays, the feelings of both wright and the player, and its just purely so GODAMN AWESOME YEA!

I never played AAI2 until yesterday. OH MY GOD, now it's my favourite ace attorney game! Even with a massive spoiler from years ago i LOVED IT until the very end!!
JFA Pursuit isn't the best, but I must say, it does a great job of capturing the amnesia of Phoenix Wright, the mystery behind a screen door, a tragedy at the circus, and a falling star.
Most of the Apollo theme's sound very technical and official. Like the theme's you would think of during investigations and court discussions. However they don't have the power and energy of the main series theme's. That fits very well with Apollo of Justice since it is a lot more technical rather than emotional.

I think "questioned" served better as a danger theme than as a pursuit theme. Like it's used later when Phoenix is in actual physical danger or he sees something horrible or terrifying. When his body is flooded with adrenaline.

it's not underrated at all. I'm not saying this beacuse I dont like it. it's my second favourite ace attorney song behind lying coldly. I'm saying this because a lot of people love it.
I have #2 On my Soundcloud playlist, with 4 other remixes of it as well. I especially enjoyed it being played in Trials and Tribulations for the final evidence-presenting scene for Phoenix for a while. In my opinion, it's the best in the series!
The pursuit themes also mix really well with the fan games. Bringing down Rhea Wits with Overtaken playing and Mills Macintosh with Caught are probably some of the most amazing moments related to this series.

Excellent list, thank you for making it. I haven't gotten to play the 2nd Edgeworth game yet so the number 1 theme was new to me but it sounded epic. Personally though Cornered still has the edge in my eyes from that magical moment at the end of the 3rd game when it plays "IT'S BENEATH YOUR MASK!" Greatest ending possible from my favorite Phoenix Wright game.

Questioned (it's actually an amazing piece when orchestrated, but the soundboard it was given in JFA made it just average at best) 5. Caught is perfect as a presuit theme, it is almost like lying coldly, its the moment where the crook messed up
Finally, someone else who gives wanting to find the truth the credit it deserves. It's not my favorite personally, but it's wayyyyy underrated.
it's not underrated at all. I'm not saying this beacuse I dont like it. it's my second favourite ace attorney song behind lying coldly. I'm saying this because a lot of people love it.
I have #2 On my Soundcloud playlist, with 4 other remixes of it as well. I especially enjoyed it being played in Trials and Tribulations for the final evidence-presenting scene for Phoenix for a while. In my opinion, it's the best in the series!

Apollo Justice and trials and tribulations pursuit songs are my favorite.
The pursuit themes also mix really well with the fan games. Bringing down Rhea Wits with Overtaken playing and Mills Macintosh with Caught are probably some of the most amazing moments related to this series.
I agree with you on #3. Dual Destinies is AMAZING.
AAAAAAH THE INTRO-- I've been watching a few of your old countdowns on my TV so I haven't been commenting, but here I have to get involved, as our orders are pretty different.
1) Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice (this was my firm favourite, admittedly assisted by The Unlimited Pursuit Medley)

3) Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
4) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (this would be higher if we were judging the Project X Zone 2 version)
5) Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
6) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All
7) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
8) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (maybe this is harsh but it pales in comparison to the rest of the game's soundtrack)
Good list though, the editing here stands the test of time, with only the lack of Spirit of Justice and the cringey intro putting it back in 2015
Apollo Justice's, Lying Coldly, and Dual Destiny's are easily my favorites.

Excellent list, thank you for making it. I haven't gotten to play the 2nd Edgeworth game yet so the number 1 theme was new to me but it sounded epic. Personally though Cornered still has the edge in my eyes from that magical moment at the end of the 3rd game when it plays "IT'S BENEATH YOUR MASK!" Greatest ending possible from my favorite Phoenix Wright game.

SO FREAKING AWESOME! I knew Cornered could not be at first and that hurts, but it doesn't matter when Wanting to find The Truth is at first place, you are the best men
Overtaken is one of if not my most favourite theme, if it isn't overtaken then it's lying coldly with 2004 cornered being a close second/3rd and the orchestra version falling in behind
Lying Coldly in my eyes is the best. It DEFINES Edgeworth perfectly and I would listen to this for hours on end
Switch #4 and #3 and your Top 5 is perfect.
caught should have been higher, and IMO cornered is overrated

DD pursuit is blech. It sounds all orchestrated and nice but it lacks oomph and impact. It sounds more like a victory fanfare than anything
I have no objections.
It's the only one that has impact for me.
That's actually the opposite for me, I'm normally not a fan of the orchestrated themes, but I really like this one

6. Questioned (it's actually an amazing piece when orchestrated, but the soundboard it was given in JFA made it just average at best)
5. Cornering Together (just another average pursuit theme, nothing super special but still gives excitement)
4. Caught (I feel victorious as it plays, that and nostalgia)

The reason why Cornered was my favorite was because it was the first heard... and once the first game passed, you don't heard it until, suddenly, at the end of Trials and Tribulations, when it's time for the ultimate final objection.
