The pay increase that was meant to go live on the 01 April was meant to be 3.75%. its now being looked at again cos of the cost of living. So its got to be higher that 3.75%.

That was the pay rise for 22/23…
The apparent reasoning for the delay in announcing the raise is due to people arguing for more in top brass due to effectively being the government stop gap when anything goes wrong.
With the way other public sectors raises are looking and the effect their strikes had and armed forces back filling public roles it should benefit armed forces and should potentially get 4-5% (armed forces can’t strike I know) despite the ‘armed forces package’ being the go to reason for lower pay. They could never let the pay rises/gap for armed forces grow too much from other public sector or as people have shown they will simply leave or not even apply to join in the first place.

There was no pay rise announced for Apr 1 this year, the report was originally supposed to e presented at the end of may, however now it looks like the report will be presented and pay increase decided upon immediately before the parliamentary recess starting 19th July.

Please send your thoughts to the families of JW and IA who unfortunately took their own life this week...They made it clear they were struggling to support their families from a far on such poor wages and poor overall prospects. RIP guys. Please support their families where you can and there's a go fund me for IA to be going live soon when permission is granted.

Hey Sam. Got my assessment on 31st of May. Going for the Infantry. Got a couple of questions.
1)How long after the 31st of May can I expect to start my phase 1 at Catterick?
    2) Once I'm done with phase 1 and let's say I go for Mechanised Infantry (Fusiliers or 1 Yorks) , do you think I'll get a single man room? During phase.2 that is

Hi Sam! I was wondering how likely it is that the army will fund your degree? I’m wanting to do a construction based role and the degree I’d want funding does pertain to construction, would it be likely that they would fund it if I was to do a return of service in exchange?

    • @MilitaryFitness

Yeah, you can do that but I think you be best to go into the recruitment centre to find out how.

    • @titchyboy3601
      @titchyboy3601 Рік тому +1

The recruitment office will have the complete up to date information regarding this. Below is some idea of what you can get but don’t take it as gospel.
Some trades/roles require university level education and as such will support education as part of training. (From memory this is primarily Med roles like nursing, this may of changed)
Some roles further down the line such as supervisory roles (for which you have to do military run courses map closely or directly across to university courses and as such require very little funding/additional work if any to gain the qualification.
The ELCAS scheme is also available which can be googled to find out all the information.

@@MilitaryFitness I have double c in science, d in maths, e in English. I've heard that they can make people do a numeracy and literacy test, if the grades don't quite matches up, or send people to worthy down just north of Winchester where they have army education based. Which is near me, I don't know if that would be quicker than adult education classes, although I don't have a job, and I need some job to join the reserves, not sure what job would be good with no qualifications, that isn't terrible and maybe that would be helpful to military maybe. As for roles i like the sound of combat medical technician but I'll be to old in 1 year and 11months to join for that role. What jobs do people joining the reserves usually do? any with jobs that have no qualifications or experience? If so which jobs. Oh, and the language I'm learning is japanese.

In short nothings changed and coming on top of the negative news re: the state of the singles/married pads accommodation which was never resolved from the last report on the armed forces covenant ! noted that the Army chief at the Land Warfare Conference 2023 followed on from his last landmark speech said ,With £2billion being spent on refurbishing accommodation, access to wraparound childcare and through Programme CASTLE and the Talent Management System, Regular, Reservist or Civil Servants will have greater ownership over their careers to ensure that the right person is in the right role.. “Finally, I am determined that we maintain our commitment to our soldiers and Civil Servants. When, like so many of our international partners, we are faced with a highly competitive market for talent, we must do our utmost to recruit our nation’s best.” .... pay and conditions ???
In closing, he said: “Let us ensure that when our Army is next asked to fight on behalf of the people of this country, it is as best prepared as it can be. For this is the Army that our soldiers and our nation deserves.” ..... All of the above when it is reducing the size of the army from 82,000 to 73,000 trained regulars whilst still facing a massive shortfall in recruitment ! still one thing is guaranteed ! the index linked pension which will have seen a %17.5 rise 2023-24 dependant on rank and length of service and which is today one of the most generous pensions available in the UK
