Thank you so much for sharing your story. I appreciate all the footage of the Titanic, thanks 🙏 to all the people brave enough to venture to the terrifying abis. I get terrified just thinking about it.
So sad. The 19-year-old was terrified but did it for his dad. I expected the same. Pressures at that depth are extreme and unforgiving. They probably didn't even know what happened it was so fast. At least they did not suffer in pain until the end. Think of it as an explosion in reverse. Titanic is a graveyard so no one should ever go back down there in my opinion. Send down ROVs. I'm an Air Force Veteran mainly because I have been known to have severe claustrophobia, I would be terrified in a sub. I have a lot of respect for the Silent Service. In February 1999 I was present for the first blowing of the Titanic whistle in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Titanic’s artifacts were interesting.
What a tragedy! Both Derrick and Suleiman were 19 years old when they stepped into the submersible to see the Titanic. One completed his journey successfully and the other guy....... 😢😢😢😢
The difference between the two is, one was a certified submersible that was actually really usable, and they didn’t use a video game controller, unlike the other and probably had pieces of metal slap-dashed then glued together and controlled with the video game controller, they were people on the news that said it was even amateurishly put together.. you don’t mess with safety. If you’re going to go to the depths of the ocean, you’re gonna want to be safe very safe and not cut corners.
Can you imagine the public outrage if the sub that Derrick used to go to the Titanic, just imploded like the Titan just did. I don't think this news outlet can defend itself very well for using a 19 year old boy to do this extreme reporting, because he was young, naive, has no children and that made him expendable.

It looks like the sub that Derrick travelled in was well designed and engineered. I am totally fine seeing the wreckage on UA-cam vlogs such as this. 😬 I am claustrophobic, so these submersibles would not be of interest to me. Thank you, KPRC and Derrick Shore!
Incredible story!! I don’t think anyone would ever want to explore this place again.
If only that were true.
Sadly many more people will explore the titanic wreck in the future.
It's crazy that if something goes wrong you won't even know because it happened so fast you are incinerated in a millisecond. That shows just a hostile the bottom of the ocean is. And to think that it gets even worse the deeper you go
People saying that the CEO of ocean gate is an “innovator” yet we have people successfully reaching this deep consistently even 20 years ago.
The only person I know claiming Rush was an innovator was Rush himself. He blatantly ignored basic design principles which until last Sunday had maintained a 63 year long zero fatality record in the deep submergence submersible community
What a way to die! My heart goes out to the families
Derrick is a wonderful journalist.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. Ir had to have been the most terrifying of all experiences! I give you credit for overcoming your fear and placing your feet onto that submersible. At once at seeing how tiny the sub was, I absolutely would have turned to run the other way! God Bless you for your bravery. As nice as it would be to see something such as the Titanic, my fear would prevent me from attempting such an adventure.
Incredible story told by the incredible Derrick Shore! Thanks for the insight. Just goes to show humans are really out of their depth that deep in the ocean. May all those souls down there RIP
At 19 yo to be chosen as the reporter to go in that mission must be a very important journalist.
Congratulations!
🤢
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I appreciate all the footage of the Titanic, thanks 🙏 to all the people brave enough to venture to the terrifying abis. I get terrified just thinking about it.
Assigning an 19 year old kid to such a hap hazard fate,
is not admirable.
jettison the extra/nonessential baggage - standard operating procedure - bruh got the short straw and to their surprise returned
It's stupid, I agree
The producer was right there with him. If I was 19 and had the opportunity to get paid to see the Titanic, Id tell them Id go for free.
Absolutely.
Totally insane
It is insane to hear the success stories to the titanic and he told it all very well!
@@Vixen743 Right.
And to think 20 years apart be the other way round 😢
Can you imagine the public outrage if the sub that Derrick used to go to the Titanic, just imploded like the Titan just did. I don't think this news outlet can defend itself very well for using a 19 year old boy to do this extreme reporting, because he was young, naive, has no children and that made him expendable.
Can you imagine being ordered to go to the bottom of the ocean by your boss?
very irresponsible boss.
Proof
they don't make em like they used to
Wow! He is a great speaker! Very descriptive and thorough, he really put us there. Explorers do what they do and know there are risks but the integrity of your sub should not be one of the risks. Ocean gate is one greedy company
The owner was on the submersible for every trip. He died as well.
@@CommoditySC I am aware. His greed and disregard for safety cost him his life and 4 others. One of which was a 19 year old young man who was terrified according to his aunt but went with his father anyway
That was so interesting and you made it sound so amazing but thank god you made it back❤
I would never do it again. That says it all. Thank you for sharing.
thanks for giving us a short but detailed insight of the titanic scenario, personally i long to visit the site
though you ended by saying "I'll never do it again",a powerful precaution of the extreme life threatening & traumatizing risks involved in this expedition
Damn that’s crazy they put him on assignment like that
Damn the fact that he was also 19 but came back up. Damn man I feel so bad for that kid.
Glad that Derrick’s voyage to the bottom of the ocean ended well! That had to have been way scary to not even be able to communicate with the pilot of the sub. It looks like the sub that Derrick travelled in was well designed and engineered. Seems like it is nothing short of gross negligence for this current submarine expedition to use such a slap dash put together vessel to take these souls to the bottom of the ocean ! Can you imagine, a frigging game controller with bad performance in general, being used to control this flimsy tin can?
Your soo right Connie it was slap dashed together with glue are you serious?! I wonder if oceangate will continue after this disaster. No one will want to go on any ocean gate.trips
I think is time to leave the Titanic alone.
@@Karolsstudio absolutely amen I totally agree with that. Let the dead rest in peace.
Great interview Derrick!
Stockton Rush fired an engineer who raised safety concerns
I agree. Best case for the souls onboard was a sudden death rather than being stuck in a incapacitated vehicle just waiting for help you know wont come.
I’m good with the Movie, I’m still mad a Rose for letting Jack go
I wrestled with that for years....she had to... he was already gone....🤣🤣 We have to let it go as well
Me too, there was room on that door.
@@Dano-kx2bw I’m trying lol
@@V.E.R.O. exactlyyyyy lol
@@patricemarquette7742actually there was not enough buoyancy on that door
great video and interview, thank u very interesting i really enjoyed this xx
This is amazing to hear his perspective - same
Age as the young man on the Titan.
