Haha! The fire starting with the Skrama was epic! Awesome job on the video!
Came to say this.
At that point it was just game over, the firelighting was more like a formality to conclude the film :-p
I have owned and used this blade for 2 years and I can confirm it is a chopping BEAST!
I have the skrama and the jaakaripuukko. The skrama is a KICKASS one tool option in my opinion but the both of them just makes the perfect duo.
4:20 first time I’ve heard a curse word on here 😂
Then you haven't been paying bloody attention!
Cool video guys. How does it stack up vs the Silky Nata?
Skarama is lovely! I used one on my military service!
I can't stand how much I love you guys. Crack me up every episode.
Great show guys, really love the DBK - channel. I was waiting for this video and I also love the Skrama, have a couple of them. Keep up the good work! :)
Guys, you’ve done it again. I loved it. That bit about the voice over was world class. I even had to play it to my wife. She didn’t laugh, but she did crack a small grin, which compared to everything else on UA-cam that I show her, is brilliant!!!! Please don’t stop.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Best Blades videos in the game, hats of guys !!! :))
+Adam Celadin thank you so much Adam! We do need some throwing skills still though hahaha
So we should meet in the woods someday :D I can teach you no problem ,))
+Adam Celadin haha that would definitely be amazing
Hey i might visit you guys on Spring, i need some holiday :) i really like Holland i was there years ago few moths for work
+Adam Celadin hey Adam, if you do send us an email at dutchbushcraftknives@gmail.com!
This is my all-time favorite DBK video!
Love the videos guys. Some of the best, most entertaining, and legit knife reviews on UA-cam. Seriously, it’s amazing how many knife review videos are just people talking and showing the knife and never cut anything with it. However, I think it’s odd that you are so adamant that the Skrama is a chopping machete and not a knife. It’s the size of a Bowie, or competition chopper, and no one calls thise a machete. To me a machete is a much thinner, more flexible, significantly longer bladed tool, intended to be a “slicer” for cutting vegetation like vines, canes, reeds, grasses, etc. I think the Skrama is absolutely a big knife, and a hell of a well designed one at that. My Skrama is without hesitation my idea “one tool” option. I took mine out in a rain storm yesterday, and harvested firewood, made rain fly stakes, carved a spear, made a wooden “grappling hook” processed my firewood, processed my fat wood, made feathersticks (shavings), made fatwood lint (spine scrapings), scraped my ferrorod, and made a fire with it. The two different grinds on the blade make a phenomenal chopper on the distal part of the blade, the wharncliff tip allows for detailed carving holding the blade by the spine choked up towards the tip, the grip has two or three different positions for detail, light chopping, and power chopping, the rubber coating is great in all weather conditions including rain and mud, and the sharper second grind on the proximal part of the blade is as sharp and fine as any pukko, allowing for very detailed work like notching and feather sticking. Including slicing fat wood like a kitchen knife dices cucumbers. It is one hell of a compact powerhouse, that does the work of a hatchet and pukko, I never go camping without it.
I’m the market for a good chopper and came back to watch this one again. Perfect for my budget! Thanks!
Terava skarma vs axe!
I've never laughed so hard on a DBK video. Great job!
Great job again! This may be splitting hairs (pun intended - my Skrama sure did split hairs out of the box), but the designer describes the Skrama as a "heavy duty bush knife". Sure, it's primarily a chopper and that's what the long handle is for - but you can choke up on that handle nicely and the first 5 centimetres of the blade feature a 25 degree grind for finer work. It's really designed as a one-tool-option sort of knife and was inspired by the medieval scramasax. Isn't a machete rather longer and thinner and used for underbrush, sugarcane and other stuff that you won't find in a northern forest...?
The cinematography in your videos combined with the music is EPIC. I laughed so much with the spit scene. Great review andd overall you are beasts.
Thanks a lot!
Gentleman I'm not going to lie I'm a pretty serious guy and sometimes your videos are little bit much but this time this video was probably the most entertaining video I've ever seen I had such an amazing time watching it, I absolutely loved it, it was so entertaining I am lost for words really well done keep up the awesome work
Wow guys you've made me laugh in the past but this is something special! :P Top work!
lol you guys and mastermilo are hands down my fav youtubers keep having fun and sharing the laughs guys!
Thanks a lot sammie!
Thanks Boys, just got my Skrama 80 few days ago…What a knife !
Love Your Channel / Keep it up 👊
Cool video guys, never stop making them!
Thanks, i really searched for a Knive like this one! and i think i finally found it!!!
maaan i have waited the whole week for such a short video??......not the best guys give us more!
(never the less i love dbk) ;)
Man I love these vids!!
I like the terava line of knives. I think the skrama and the 110 or 140 is a perfect combo
Agreed. I own all of the above. Personally I tend to pair the skrama with the 110. The extra length of the 140 does not give anything already covered imo.
They are if weight is not important. Skrama plus the 110, or even just a Mora. If you want to travel light(er) on hike, the 140 can be a very effective one-tool option (assuming that you already have a good folder on you, or a multitool). Just don't try to chop down whole forests with it. ;-)
Potver wat is dit toch weer oogstrelend om naar te kijken! De video ook trouwens...
+Dutch Outdoor Group hahahaha heeerlijk!!
Great editing! Vette video’s Guys, ik ga deze zeker aanschaffen
You guys a freecking amazin. When mike spits hahah gets me every time
Just get my skrama today. In Love with it.
What an amazing video, it is at the same time funny but also serious in some way!
Thanks a lot!
The Skrama is hands down my favorite large knife. And I do classify it as a knife instead of a machete. Machetes tend to be much thinner and lighter. But, there are all sorts of machetes so I guess it's just semantics. The Skrama does suprisingly well with finer work with the dual grind. It will never compete with a Kansbol or other dedicated bushcraft knife in that area but it's quite capable. Anyway, fun comparison!
Bill hooks are machetes and also rather thick. Gras and bush has other requirements compared to wood and aluminium pans. ;)
Phreak true. Golocks tend to be pretty thick too...
Thank you for making such a fantastic vid on the Skrama, It saved me a lot of trouble. For the money the Skrama can't be beat.
Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors still waiting on vs vid with skrama and the mini duku Lol
Thanks a lot! The skrama is actually a one edged sword but i agree that the definition of a machete it a flexible thin large cutting tool
I think I say this every time. I love your videos!
Best knife channel out there
Left another new video right in the middle to come watch this!
the drive by firesteel fire got me laughing really hard!!!
Thank goodness it’s Thursday! Great video.
I've always 🤣🤣 when i'm watching this channel. But wait....both of guy always give something new and the best informarmation. For us, for whole the world. Thank you guys... 👍🏽👍🏽
Had a really good laugh. Now I am off to order one 😁👍
Ok, you two are amazing!
Awesome production guys. Well done .
I have a skrama and it does pretty good with bushcraft tasks. I don't know if you noticed or not but it has a secondary edge a couple inches long at the handle. That's the last of it I use for finer tasks and it does pretty good. I haven't carved a spoon with it and don't intend to lol. I usually carry my own spoon or some chopsticks. Those guys make great puuko's as well
Definiteyl! I have the jaakaripuukko and i Like it a lot
Another great video guys. I agree with Blue Mountain Bushcraft on this one though. But no doubt the Skrama and jaakaripuukkos are awesome knives.
Oh btw thanks for the reviews on the Bark River Aurora LT (you just cost me $$$ on this awesome knife lol - CPM3V for the win. You guys need to try out the L.T. Wright GNS or Genesis also if you get a chance)
Yeah I'm wanting a pukko 110 for harder bushcraft use such as batoning, love my kansbol as a food processor knife an finer carving tasks.
@kenny wheelus it’s 10 months later.. did you ever end up getting the 110? I’ve had one for about 2 months now and I love it. It’s one of my favorite knives. I just ordered the Skrama; should be delivered in about a week. I can’t wait
I did the same with the Seax I made, about 3-4 inches at the close end which is a finer angle for more precise tasks.
Your videos always crack me up
Great video! Did also first impression test video with it in my garden. Hell of a knife!
Another great video!!!!
So funny 😂😂😂 awesome Video 👍🏻
Hahaha. I thought that my monitor was broken, but you guys had something on your lens during the last segment. It's like right on Mikkie's face :D Anyways, another great vid!!
First comment I ever write on a DBK-video, even though I've seen and enjoyed quite a few. I've also made a couple of videos myself, and some of them focus on chopping (both with knives and axes, and sometimes knives vs. axes). I saw in a comment below where PREPAREDMIND101 mentioned my channel, and the success of the JX5 (in my first chopping contest). I really like the JX5 for its great versatility; being a great chopper for its size and weight as well as being a good all around camp knife etc. Out of all the knives I've used and own, and speaking solely of pure chopping performance, the best ones I've used are the Grasso Bolo III, Parang and Battle Cleaver - all made by Bark River. But they are all large and heavy and not quite as versatile as the JX5; especially the 2nd Gen. JX5. The JX5 is my go-to chopper, should I feel the need to have one with me when out hiking/camping. I do prefer using axes and hatches though, like the Outdoor Axe from Gränsfors Bruk. But variation can be fun at times. ;)
Keep it up!
Thanks for the long-awaited review. The Terava Skrama is made from 80CrV2 Steel which is tough (I have made knives from it). I would like to see a second review where you demonstrate making feather sticks with the secondary grind near the handle, I have found that it does well with this. It is a knife, albeit ugly, not a machete it was designed to carry out most bushcraft tasks, and it does in my experience of using one for a couple of years. I am not a fan of big knives, but this is the one I would carry.
Dunno I kinda like the primitive Seax type look of it. I am intrigued by it.
Also now available is the Skrama 200. With the same edge profile as the 240 but a bit shorter and less massive, with a sigle-grip position handle. Not a better carving knife, but less capable as a chopper in an even cheaper, shorter design.
@@ajaxtelamonian5134 Look up Taiter Hukari. It's a modern version what a hukari used to be: a broken sword, taken from battlefield and then used in farming/forests. Varusteleka used to sell those Hukari's made by Taiter, until Taiter changed the design for worse and Varusteleka then designed their own product: skrama, short of skramasaksi which in english is Seax...
Wow, what a chopper! Thats the one i like and the price ist low for that what you get! Thanks a lot for showing! Best Regards from Oldenburg/Germany! Jörg
Herrliche Unterhaltung...wie immer,danke dafür! :-)
Peace
Stephan
You guys are awesome, most entertaining knife channel on You Tube......... however I don't feel Mickey's Love (clearly biased in this review lol) of the Fallkniven MB should override the fact that the Skrama can actually out perform the MB in all tasks other than looks!! :-) His defence of the MB is priceless! :-) Great work!!!!!
Thanks DBK!
Loved the video!
gj bois, great video!
Amazing video quality !
And that's what real DBK looks like... Fun, action but also facts, llooovely my friends
You guys keep making great videos! Keep it up! Can you do a video on the mora eldris?
Hilarious. Humor is refreshing, original and creative.
One of your best video.
Fantastic video guys
Jongens, jullie zijn geweldig. Ga zo door.😀💪👍👍👊
I have the skrama and the Kansbol and that is one heck of a duo! The sheath that comes with the skrama is really decent too.
O bom humor deles é bem brasileiro!! Parabéns
Finally!!!
Love your vids
skrama is a beast !
Micky and Mallory. You guys are great.
love you guys! you make me laugh like an idiot!
Silky NATA is a beautiful chopper! and great price.
People would be interested in seeing that too I bet.
Best video yet...
Love my Skrama. Choke up and use the short finer edge section for feather sticks and other fine work. One hell of a working bush tool.
Yowzers. Great vid yet again with good humour . I agree with you lads, good chopper and steel for the price. I find the Skarma nicely balanced too, with a comfy 2 position handle to do close up push cuts I find the longer handle counteracts the blade length giving a lighter controllable neutral feeling as well as being able to deliver big chops when hand sat towards rear of grip . Seems like 80CrV2 is a better carbon steel 1095 Cro-Van with a better edge retention as long as heat treatment is done correctly which the Skarma seems to have nailed. Good stuff. Can't wait to see what you guys are planning for next Thursday. Take care lads all the best.
Thanks a lot and 80CRV2 is definitely a great steel and the best thing is that its very inexpensive. I too like it a lot more than 1095 or 1095 crovan
U watch 2 much movies.Awesome.nice video again.
Great Job Guys!!! I managed to get a Silky Nata 240 (The longest version in Double edged! Single Edge is Better With Practice, but Got it For Under £50.00 Including Postge Direct From Japan! Its a Great Mad Minute Knife!!!

I love you vids guys
Could you guys do a review of the bravo 1 cpm 3v other than the one stick fire im curious what your thoughts are on it compared to other reviews
Wich knife is better as alround knife (for carving, survival, bushcraft (batoning, etc.), food prepping)?
The fallkniven f1 or the lionsteel m5?
VERY NICE!!!
Great vid btw

Ugandan Knuckles nice profile pic and name;-😂
unique .v.d.h no its not, the meme is dead and i can't change my name D:
I want a Fällkniven Modern Bowie so bad! I have the regular A1 and its a beast! You guys need to try the bark river bravo 3!
OH, NOoo!!, knives and tools are not selling the Skrama ! That explain the close too hilarious conclusion of the video.. we can't compare? haha, love this video anyway, finally this fantastic knife is in one of your vids, do appreciate it a lot and somehow your courage and honesty to show how good that knife is... but I understand there is conflict interest between your sponsor and varusteleca selling that knife.
The skrama is an amazing knife but in reality the focus really lies in chopping with the skrama where the fallkniven is more allround. Also the steel on the fallkniven is better. However not so much better that it justifies the extra costs. Nontheless we love both and we can recommend both. Knives and tools also doesn’t sell the modern bowie. Knives and tools doesnt tell us what to do and not do luckily
Haha Epic Video :-D
Hey DBK please do a review on the Elk Ridge ER-555 series knife. It's not the highest quality of steel but it is a pretty good all around knife especially for under 20$ and I would really like to see if it would hold up to your test
Pleaaaase make a vid about the mora kansbol, maybe compare it with the garberg or something :D
yey new video! :D
How do you field sharpen/ hone a convex grind? I've been looking at fallkviven and bark river but I want to be sure I can maintain it while at home with water stones and also on longer trips
On water stones. We have some videos on it. Convex is actually the olders grind and the natural way of your hands to sharpen a knife
I used to carry a similar monster back in the Middle Ages. Btw, nice gas/ferro trick.😸
AWESOME video as always. Love these head to head tests. I would recommend getting a Jaakkaripuukko to go with the Skrama, same maker, also insanely good for the Bushcrafty tasks. NOW, there is a feature of the Skrama you MIGHT have overlooked. It has a dual grind. Near the handle there is a short section with a scandi-vex grind meant for feather stick making, notching, carving etc. Great for finer tasks. Also, there is a technique involving a lanyard which will allow you to utilize the tip of the Skram for close up detailed work like drilling, skinning or whatever. Let me know if you need details. Stay crazy, brothers!!
I own one and i love it haha.
YEAH, I looked and now remember that you did a video on it 9 months go. COOL.
I don't think I've ever seen so much Dutch cheese in one place. Well done.
Could you please test the autine puukko vs the malanika puukko ? Also great work as always from you :)
