  • Here is a tip that is useful for cleaning up completed Premiere Projects. There are often unused clips in the project and on disk that are taking up valuable disk space. This simple approach ensures that you don't delete clips that are used in sequences and also ensures that you remove the disk files, including any proxy files, as well as the clips themselves from the project.

How do you get Video Usage to appear?

Right click the tabs at the top, where it says 'Name, Frame Rate, Media Start...etc.' > Select 'Metadata Display' > Search 'Video Usage' > Check the boxes for 'Video Usage' > Click 'Okay' > You may have to scroll along to find the tab that says 'Video Usage' but it will be there.
You can also remove the other tabs such as 'Frame Rate, Media Start'...etc. in the same menu and save your setting.

This method is too manual for having a lot of unused files. It only works if it is just a few. There must be a method to deletee massive amount of unused files from premiere and drive at the same time.

Click the 'Video Usage' tab to sort by videos used, and those not used. You should find all your unused videos are ordered before or after all your used videos.
You can then select one unused video, and scroll down to the last unused video (before it gets to clips you're using) and hit SHIFT + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON (LMB) on the last unused clips. Then follow the method in this video, and it will delete all.
Be careful to make sure you have not selected any used clips. I strongly recommend saving and backing up your project before deleting large amounts of clips.

Just type mp4, mov, or wav into the search box in the project panel, then click the little search folder next to it. This will create a search bin with all your matching files from all folders. You can then use @CobraEmergency 's technique to delete whatever you don't need. You can clear the search bin after.
