    I can't stop listening to this piece, especially the 2nd movement. Every time I hear it I like it even more. Especially that arrival on the low C at 5:24. Gets me every time!

    When you arrive at the Forte expressivo in the second movement, you don't have oxygen anymore, but you can't breath. So much tention, instability, it's so painful but at least very musical, because your whole life depends on the music you're playing. You don't have oxygen, so you send all your passion and love for the bassoon in your instrument.
    It's like an allucination, but it's much more beautiful than any drug

      What are you talking about? There is a perfect place to breath just before the scale going into the forte. You have plenty of air, and only have to play a bar and a half before the next breath. Air supply is no problem at all.

    What a gem of a piece! M. Tasman is an over-looked composer of merit.
    Mr. Boganyi could qualify as the Paganini of the Bassoon!

      Definitely looks like fun! As both pianist and bassoonist, I can say this is a gem in classical repertoire for both instruments. The chords and patterns and passages in the piano seem really satisfying to play. Not to mention the exciting and expressive bassoon part!

      I just wanted to write the same!
      The last note sounds like a clarinet. That is magical!

    This piano part looks very very much like a transcription of a string-orchestra accompaniment. Does anyone know if this was originally a piece for bassoon and strings?

    • @ulrichvonwangenheim3262
      @ulrichvonwangenheim3262 2 роки тому +5

      It's originally written for bassoon and piano, as usual for a sonata.

      I’m learning the accompaniment right now, it does have a lot of range for sure, but the widest interval played on one hand is a 9th. It is a little gruesome to play not going to lie!

    Stravinsky must have really liked Tansman, to put up with him quoting so much of Firebird in that! I'm surprised he didn't ask for royalties.
