Good job! It cost more for one housecall for one drain, than what you paid for the auger!

I use special gloves because the wrong kind can wrap you up, that's really bad!

And I broke it after the first use, the cord somehow snapped when retracting and the whole front end is gone down the drain. Didn't ever see that happen in a video

My son has dropped a large pebble down my bathroom sink. I feel that I will need to remove the pipes to sort the blockage. 😭

Maintenance auger coil is an absolute necessity. Your debris removal as you retracted is spot on. Having finished, your cleaning the auger coil also a good process, too. Suggestion: in the garage or diveway, extend auger coil to the end, clean with dish soap diluted in warm water, green ScotchBrite (NOT WITH A SPONGE ATTACHED) pad and dedicated toilet bowl brush, rinse with garden hose, leave extended coil to dry outside in driveway on a sunny/cloudy and breezy day 2 or 3 hours (carefully hang coil fully extended from unit securely with sturdy, short bungees from garage rafter or convenient tree branch). While coil is still in hanging position, spray /dribble small amounts of WD40, wipe sprayed product with fluffy towel rag/microfiber cloth to disperse product thoroughly on whole length of suspended auger coil, air dry coil and cloth with spring-loaded plastic pinch clothes hanger. Remove dried cloth to wash in an empty, clean tub/bucket of hot tap water and +/- 1-2 Tbs of soapy dish detergent, swish cloth with same brush used to initially clean extended coil (3 birds, one stone process). Rinse items inside bucket with garden hose near main drain, not in the grass. Allow bucket, brush and cloths within time to air-dry. Meanwhile SLOWLY retract clean coil, stow auger body, power cord, battery appropriately, dried cloths with other dirty cloths to launder or discard in outside trash container, (NOTE: face shield PPE recommended, logical/safety precautions regarding debris cleanup and coil cleaning recommended. Dish soap, mild bleach ( 1/4 - 1/2 cup bleach per 1 gallon water) solution in swish base in tub/bucket highly recommended. Common sense regarding all phases of clean up highly recommended.
This process seems long and complicated but better safe than sorry. Once you've completed this process a number of times is almost second nature.
Rationale: rust prevention; coil housing care to provoke tool longevity, function, positive outcome, clean smell and, of course, cleaned out drains functioning properly 😊😊😊.
