    Your videos convinced me to buy a Deluge 3 years ago, and I have been so happy with it. And now I'm even happier because my Deluge is coming back from its OLED upgrade in a few days, and I will try all those wonderful new capabilities you showed with such amazing talent. I truly love your work and all you give to the synth community. Thank you so much!

    Oh damn, didn’t realize you could load synth presets into kits now. That’s dope, I’ve made quite a few synthesized drum kits for myself but it was always a bummer that I had to start from scratch (or edit an existing kit). Also all the other implications that comes with that. Super rad.

    this is insaaaaaaane. thanks heaps for your amazing demos as always, you're the king!
    I feel like the software side of things is so incredibly packed now, the only thing that could beef up this thing would be an XL version with more I/O (dying for a cue out), potentially an even bigger screen or possible connectable extra screen and maybe some human limbs and a bunch of recipes so it can prepare meals for me. it's great as it is though.

      I have just bought a used Deluge, 2021 with Oled mod, Looks new to me, no scratches or marks anywhere. I updated to the Beethoven community firmware so I have no Idea what the standard firmware is like. I did this so I can get used to the open source firmware from day one. I just have to learn to use it now so am looking at tutorials that start right from the beginning. So I agree completely with @Sineidal's comment! I have started on the RSKT tutorials and have Ron Cavagnaro's tutorials ready to go. Both are excellent but a tutorial dedicated to both an Oled screen and the community firmware would be perfect!

    Still don’t even have one of these but every time new firmware comes out I still check it out haha. The velocity thing is an interesting strategy to deal with not having velocity sensitive pads! Reminds me of some old Digidesign controller firmware updates in the olden days.

    • @duncan-rmi
      @duncan-rmi 11 місяців тому +5

      I think putting the different velocities under different pads is actually a better idea, in the long-run, for the longevity of the hardware (you don't have to hit the thing & risk fatiguing the delicate parts underneath), & it makes you think about using velocity to alter other parameters. the machine never stops being amazing. the screen was a game-changer for lots of us- the underlying functionality was always there with the 7-seg, but now the instrument communicates with joined-up writing instead of red crayon, speeds things up immensely. I have two now, & sometimes load the same song on both, hooked up to a surround system. 🤟

    U'r a genius mate and all this in 23 minutes of pure joy. What a big update.. and i'm missing out 'cause my deluge got confescated by the police and they ain't giving it back nether.. no proof of this. Anyways might be able to talk to Ron about this again.. He's been expecting a mail with the continuations on the situation since then. Lol it's been 3 years almost. Loong story short ended up on the streets with covid comming to Spain to work on a hempfarm, and had this with me.. yeah might be stolen they thaught after being falsly accused. And gone.. my laywer kept me on the line for 2 years and charges where dropped after 3 weeks.. nobody ever told me about that. Wasn't funny finding out about that.. they always leave traces. Might really have to take this to court. Still stuck here. Far from home.. yet i have the rest of the studio safe here or at least most of it here, the moog and some guitars and VS 2000 are at an old friend.. anyways things are different here.. loads of corruption and ex criminals hiding all over Andalucia.

      As long as it is set as an effect in a clip or song it is consuming a lot of both memory and CPU. Even if a clip is muted unfortunately. Until we are able to improve performance we guard it with an explicit setting. PS: the setting only hides the FX type but does not disable currently enabled ones so songs don't get altered.

    I just think that if Akai had open sourced the firmware for the MPC it would not be such a shitty product.

      You can set the colours to be whatever you want. That is simply the default.

    Can someone help with the FW update part: I read way earlier that the Open Source Firmware requires a new Bootloader on Deluge. I'm running 4.0.1 on the "classic" numeric display. Couldn't find any clear-cut info on specific steps when coming from a particular FW version, just general hints on FW File-Size and Bootloader. Is it just copying the BIN file on a SD like usual or are there things to consider?

      It's the same firmware update procedure as normal firmwares

    • @ok_reza
      @ok_reza 11 місяців тому +2

      it's not required, however updating your bootloader eliminates the chance of your deluge being soft-bricked if you accidently load firmware that is 0bytes or greater than 3.5mb (this risk has always been present btw). you need the current official firmware beta 4.1.4 to make the update. i would suggest just updating to community as normal (same process as you described), just keep an eye on your firmware size and always eject SD card safely, and once v4.1.4 is officially released, you could consider updating your bootloader then.

      @@ok_reza Good advice, thanks! I consulted the manual again (the article for the "old" Deluge seems to lack some images and example screenshots, hence my question) and seems I check what Bootloader FW I am currently on just as a precaution. The manual actually discourages updating if Bootloader is already above V5 iirc, but from what it looks like the community FW seems safe to apply either way.

    I own Squarp Hapax and love it , do you think if I add Deluge to create a Monster they would complement each other well ?
    Reason I got Hapax it gave new life to my old gear , Deluge seams more standalone,like groovebox , I also have 1010 blue and black + arturia keystep, I don't want to get lost in gear instead of making music ,
    I already suffer from synthmania = Virus Snow , indigo 2 , Elektron Digitakt, Digitone ,Waldorf micro Q phoenix, Blofeld , Pulse 2 ,Rocket, micro q keyboard + Roland Vsynth -JP8000, Fantom x6, Fantom XR, MV 8000 , VP-9000, Varios, SE-2 ,MC 808 D 2 , TB 03 , Tr 09 , Tr 08 , Tr 06 , Tr 6s , Mc 101 , J 6 , S 1 , Akai Mpc One ,Emu XL7 , Audity x2 , E6400 , E5000 , Novation A station , Yamaha CS6X, cS6r with An and Ds cards,Korg micro X , Electribe S mk2 , Behringer Wasp , TD 3MO , Arturia microfreak, Keystep and bunch more , as you can see I am not well :(
    So there is always room for more sequencers
    In your opinion Deluge + Hapax or pair of ether , thank you
