Sidne is the controller for the whole operating setup. It's discussed in Cathode Ray Dude's video 2 months ago with the title "Little Guys Ep 11" - And yes, the power button is just a janky on that was well!

Nice teardown. You will probably find between the logic and the high voltage board one optocoupler to power the lamp and another one to get the state if it's ok , we can found those xenon lamp inside 3lcd or dlp projector but with longer lifetime.

The lamp may be left in a pre-ionised state to be able to turn it on immediately. The same is done when engraving with DC CO2 laser tubes. They have a tickle current that runs continuously even if they are not lasing that is 1-5% of the main current but allows for high speed raster engraving bu modulating the tube voltage and laser output without having to wait for the ignition pulse to do its thing.
I think your machine is working correctly.

it was impossible to look at the light and evaluate its power, it was much easier for me to simply look at power consumption from mains supply, that number told me it was full power.

@@TeardownOZ2CPU That is sad and a terrible waste of energy and lamp hours. Use your hours wisely. The Dallas button will probably tell you your lamp is worn out at 500 hours even if it has another 1000 left at reduced specifications. You could read the button or eavesdrop the protocols to find out if you can prevent the button from writing updates or cloning it and then replacing it with a earlier clone each time it claims to have run out.
A problem with this is if they have done like the inkjet printer manufacturers and keep a copy of the last 3 ink cartridges status in the printer as well so they know if you are trying to replace with a fuller cart. People had to cycle between 3 cards when refilling to eliminate the history. Probably had in this case.
If your scope can decode One-Wire protocol there might be some indication of what is being done. Some buttons are write once, and you might have to write a secret code into them that is hashed from the button serial number and you would have to use an button emulator.

Not sure but might just be the way it works, standby moves the optical attenuator to 0% light output while the lamp stays on for instant output when required by the surgeon. Also makes stryker selling more lamps 😂
Also ensures consistent color temperature as the lamp doesn‘t have to go through its ignition phase. Igniting is furthermore quite harsh on the lamp, you wouldn‘t wanna do this too often as it shortens life expectancy drastically…

Hi Thomas, interesting toy, strange state when the stby turns on the lamp, but doesn't turn it off 🤔 it sheds a completely different light on the whole problem 😂
    Nice day tom
