    I think the spooled hoses (separation-columns) are for gas-chromatografie - different gases have different speeds in these tubes and reach the sensor at different times.

      I have no clue at all :-) i just guess. we have two spools, about same length, but very different hole diameter, so i think different gas types will deliver some kind of resistance, and this way reach the O2 sensor at a slow, and more well defined speed / flow, I feel that o2 sensor wil not be happy if we blow too much air directly into it, it must be done very slowly

      I doubt it. I think Thomas had it right. Those types of columns have a stationary phase inside them for separation. However, you see spools like that in HPLC systems to regulate flow

    09:50 It's a pressure buffer to remove the fluctuations in the vacuum (like a capacitor, removing ripple)

    Really neat teardown! I work as in-house engineer for a biotech company. Work with a lot of equipment with fluidics that have similar components (not for gases though). I would imagine at least one of those high precision 10V regulators is a reference for that honeywell style pressure sensor (the one with poor solder job)

      I am a senior consultant at Prevas, I design electronics for a living, from prototypes, proff of concept, to fully working industrial products, it can be almost anything you can imagine, robots, medical, military, space

    Amazing sensors. The yellow windows on the sensors may be zinc selenide (commonly used in IR equipment)

    Those "braided" input hoses are special (and expensive) moisture can pass through the tube wall. Look for Moisture Exchange Tubing. No idea what you would use it for though ;)

    Think abaut like the specimen is get excited by IR radiation and it can emits in content specific color bands. The filters pass this narow bands to the sensor/s and olso block IR from the exciter.
    It is may an spectrometer for gases.

    Hah, even the mighty Siemens buy NDIR gas analysers from Andros. I used to be expert on those, they're used in all sorts of industries, my field was Automotive emissions and diagnostics so we used the Andros 6000 and 5000 series along with a few 'micro' gas benches, it's nice to see different models that work along exactly the same pricinples.
    The Oxygen sensor is fascinating, it relies on the paramagnetic properties of oxygen to deflect the mirror in the magnetic field and the deflection is measured optically

      I think the whole device has been built by Andros as it says ANDROS on the main board!

    09:16 The board says ANDROS, I feel this whole device has been built by a sub-contractor to Siemens.

    Seeing resistors like at 18:33 in 1990s and newer equipment always had me puzzled - then I learned there are some reasonably modern resistor types (like Yageo BWF) that LOOK like this, but are NOT ancient carbon composition resistors :)
