I had to watch this because... My real grandfather passed away in 1950 (12 years before I was born), so my grandmother (a Cockney) married a Polish man who came to Wales after the 2nd world war and I grew up with them in Pantyrawel, Ogmore Valley from 1963. Yes, I know - it sounds complicated...and weird. Anyway... My adopted grandfather grew up on a farm in - you guessed it - Gdansk region. It's nice to see that the city there has become so modern after the stories he told me about how it was when he was a kid. Their main meal was often nothing more than salted potatoes. Thanks for the Vid...! 🙂
I am Polish American, 100% Polish born to Polish immigrants. Polish food is so underrated because it is not as wide spread as other cuisines. But everyone that I know that has tried it, has loved it. LOVE the Polish apple cake. It is nice to see Poland getting more and more tourism. One thing I wanted to clarify. For the cheese that is used in the pierogi, I know that Google translate always says that it is cottage cheese, but that is not right. It is what we call farmer's cheese. It does not have the curds like cottage cheese does. It is more of a soft cream cheese consistency with a mild taste. I know cottage cheese turns people off but the cheese it nothing like cottage cheese as we know it.
Thanks so much for the support. You should visit if you get the chance! It's a fascinating place and flights are cheap! I'm still up for another walk if you want 👍
@ I’ve done so little international travel lately, and I need to sort that out! Yes, me too - I’ll look at possible routes tomorrow. I know there are a few in the Pontardawe area I haven’t done yet which I’m keen on. I’m thinking of walks which won’t require too much getting stuck in mud at this time of the year!
Hi Both - Would be interested when this was filmed ie when you were In Gdansk - as I have just returned from 4 days in Poland - 2 days in Gdansk - last Thurs & Fri and 2 days in Warsaw - as it happens my partner had the plum jam and croissant and made same remark ie not the sweetest plum. We stayed in the Old Town really convenient but visited all the places you did - surprised our paths didn’t cross Really enjoyed the long weekend- our first visit to Poland
Hi Marcus and Mel i really enjoy watching your videos i often see you sitting having coffee on the sea front in porthcawl I'll stop and have a chat keep up the good work
Definitely added Gdansk to our list. Incidentally, when we sold everything to travel, one of the few things we kept in our storage crates was our pizza scissors ‘pizizzors’ 😂
Hi Marcus, awesome live video. I enjoyed it. How are you doing? I'm doing well and so is my cat Benjamin. We have mild temperatures right now in Ontario, Canada. How is the weather where you are? Have a great day see you next video 😊

The most popular is this schnitzel with sauerkraut than dumplings in Poland. On Sunday, during dinner, hear the breakup of the schnitzel.
WE Are the same family. Poland must always faith for independence. I love You!❤❤❤.

Mel was menacing with those in her hands!
@ we also learned the meaning of mull. Wasn’t anything to do with getting mullered after all, maybe that was more appropriate for the vodka flight.
Great video both, his food and drink cheaper out there
Yes, it’s very reasonable
When back in Uk try out Llanmihangel pub near by but fabulous Manor House with fantastic history dating from 1047 one of wales oldest inhabited homes
Cheers - Do you know the name of the pub?
