Very good video. Great sales and I like that you shared the not so exciting stuff because that's largely the reality of reselling. Is there a strategy to including commas in your ebay titles? Seems like commas would eat up character space for another word that you could use that would/could mean something to a search engine.
Great question! Since there’s no “manual” per se re: the hard & fast rules of eBay (Posh, etc.) reselling (altho there are 1000’s of armchair QB’s” through whose prescient wisdom we can “know”), I will speak from experience… we NEVER use commas in titles. Or quotation marks. Even apostrophes . Hyphens, yes, because they don’t waste a character space, improve on grammar, and apparently hyphenated phrases & plural words (Levi vs Levi’s) are read by the search engine as the same. Always try to optimize & use up all 80 characters.

I’ve forced myself to learn it, and it was just like menswear was at first… filing one brand away at a time into the mental transom. And familiarization w/ one category at a tine,
I got REALLY interested AND courageous to wade in with ladies’ denim first (after a young woman at church couple 3-4 years ago revealed she resold ONLY women’s jeans and grossed 50K the previous year.
Of course bottoms of all subclasses followed by outerwear (abundant at the thrifts year-round back in SE Wisconsin) were next. You won’t find Lululemon, Spanx, or Peloton unless you venture into the gal’s activewear racks (unless it’s mixed in on the new racks or mistagged in men’s).
Although I hate listing clothes, I will still pick up Duluth & Kuhl & Free People. My sales are dead, probably because I charge shipping on everything. ⚰️

Hey Matt, don't know if this is helpful feedback, but I've watched a slew of your videos now, and every time you say "for some reason, this took a really long time to sell...", I'm always thinking: dude, look at that photo! The 90 degree pants, the Free People top, the Marti Kat shirt and most notably those Prana shorts -- all those pics don't do justice to the piece, in my opinion. The garments look worn out and saggy. Maybe photograph the drooping items lying flat??? Love to watch anyway
This is why i do flat lays. I can not make a garment look presentable on a hanger.
We just switched to Chris L’s stand-up photo-booth “rack” from the 45 degree flat-lay we used for years, and overall, WHAT an improvement! It takes up 1/2 the space w/ 1/4 the clutter. HOWEVER, garment tops over a men’s Large looked way better before, also took way longer to smooth out AND was so hard on the back. Solved the problem this week. Got a free extra-wide hanger from one of my local GW managers. Sales volume similar to before even w/ hangar clips showing on pants photos, etc.
What do you think about sourcing on whatnot for clothing to sell on eBay? Been buying recently and have gotten a lot of bread and butter for 1 or 2 dollars plus shipping. Stuff I’m hoping to sell for 10-12 plus shipping. Not sure if the margins will end up being there, but I like not having to drive to the thrift. Interested to hear your thoughts or anyone else’s. Thanks.

What would be your course of action to sell good and long tail items within 1 month. I ordered huge amounts of clothing stock then turned out I will move in 1 and a half months and want to convert it to cash rather than leave it in storage for a few months. Is auction my best bet?

This is so true. And this comment is not to discourage anyone. It is alot like the quick pace of tic tic with the emphasis on entertainment and merchandising goods. Matt is extremely well spoken and articulate, with a very wry/droll sense of humor which is entirely his own. Add to that a very good looking human with great merch and it’s a win win win. On you tube I sometimes tune into selling venues and they are so out there and don’t sell much. They talk about extraneous stuff and I’m like where are the goods, as they talk about their cats. 🤓 I can’t do it. Having been in this biz most of life it’s one and done and keep moving. Matt brings that.
Absolutely, he is made for Whatnot. It's hard to hear fron UA-cam creators that Whatnot is the new platform when most of us are not able to join the party.

Do you list solely from your phone or airdrop photos to iMac then list items on eBay?
USB transfer the photos to desktop and list there
