"Too much of one thing will increase unhappiness"
Me with cheese: "...Uh..."
I always loved how zomboid can be tweaked into your own perfect zombie sim. Maybe you wanna be an ex-military slayer whose goal is to wipe out the zombie plague, or you can be a lone farmer and spend your days hunting fishing and farming deep in the forests far from any zombie threats. The world is what you personally make of it, and that's really cool.
Exactly and it works
For some reason I hear "Rhonda Marsh" and I think "Randy Marsh" from South Park and imagine his obsession with Creme Fraishe
Once they add animals, cows should provide milk. But until then you're stuck with rotten milk for the rest of the game.
When I first started playing Zomboid I found I needed to spend some time on a game with all the Zeds turned off, just so I could get to grips with the mechanics of the game, like cooking. I struggled to figure out how to cook a tin of beans when there is an Apocalypse of zombies breathing down my neck. Tutorial vids like this would have helped me so much when starting. And I am looking forward to any snippets I may yet learn from the Pro's Pro.
That's actually a very good idea 💡
I try to mimick the way he takes on a hord of like 20 zombies or more o.0 best i can do is 5 or 6 at once 😨 😱
I always think of that Benny Hill end credits chase music when I see a horde chasing PZ players. :)
I have so much fun foraging for stuff and cooking delightful little zombie apocalypse meals
To everyone talking of a grind: if you choose cook and/or find a book or two and watch all the TV shows you will be very close to or at lvl 7. This is why lvl 7 is useful, b/c it is THE only way to get milk mid to late game or other spoiled ingredients, and I like to bake a cake for Christmas. Also if you cook you food to gain more calories or even makes salads you are gaining something besides XP so technically no grinding. With out a doubt a 5 ingredient salad is better than it's individual ingredients and gains a fair amount of xp. Alway carry a bowl! You can boil water in it, cook in it and making a salad will remove neg values for most foods. Now if I could just bash a zombies head in with it...
Thanks for the video
My fav Zomboid vid ever.
I watch all your vids, good job dude.
Thanks!
We need canned and powdered milk.
ngl you're the first youtuber with a nice microphone, everyone else tries to swallow it lol
Nice. Hopefully there will be more of these :)))
More to come!
Fine Tutorial, Well done 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Funky cuz the whole thing about cooking food is that ever since man discovered fire he got cooking. A carrot is worth less than a roasted carrot. Main reason is because bacteria, of course, but after that how can a man pick out more calories out of it? Its the same carrot, you didnt add anything to it, right? Well you broke down its general integrity. A soft carrot is easier to digest and basically you use up less calories to absorb its calories. The opposites of what pandas are doing, which is applying so many calories into bamboo processing they get protein out of it
I just got in a bit of a ramble but I think the topics cool
I think learning how to master cooking, is the final stage in "defeating" the zombie apocolypse.
I burnt my house down by putting my stir fry in the microwave...
Is there any reason to make a sammich instead of a stir fry?
Are cakes really nutritionally dense?
They are calorically dense so I guess if you are trying to gain weight and have what you need to make it happen, Cakes could be a decent choice.
Sandwiches weigh less (I think) so they are more portable
You can make, I think, 4 burgers out of one meat patty.
First step : Get drunk
Now we all can kill zombies just by screaming WHERE IS THE LAMB SAUCE!!!! at them :D
anyone know how close the ingredients need to be to offer the recipe in the crafting window?
Within your reach. As in if you can pick up the ingredient from the tile you’re standing on.
Hey guys, i can't find how you can't transfer your cooked in a pot stews and soups into a bowl. Tried right click the pot or the bowl but neither of that works, what am I missing ?
Big RIP that no one ever answered this for you. If you still need help with it, you just need to have 2 or 4 bowls to split the soup/stew into bowls
@@wastelanddan7388 thank you so much man! Anything small really helps out noobs like me down the line. Also, do you know if we can bake a whole cake or pie with rotten ingredients?
Just add cockroach in a frying pan and a bit of salt and pepper.. WALA~ stir fry cockroaches.. DELICIOUSO!
I'm sure it will taste like chicken
Is Ronda related to Randy Marsh?
awesome mwhahahaha!##! i see buttons i press buttons long live the mater \o/
I really should cook and make food more often in game
Sorry Chef, i prefer my Bolognese in the can xD
Such a disgrace, a Pigeon could cook better than you and has less than half your brain cells -gordon ramsay
F i miss it
my character died eating burnt food 🤦♂️
From efficiency standpoint, if you handled your hunger through farming/trapping/fishing, you don't need to worry about cooking at all. In fact it's preferable to not even butcher the animals you catch and simply put them in the oven, cook them and eat them with the skin like Smeagol would. Take Nutritionist trait and see for yourselves.
Animal corpses have by far the highest nutrition values. Butchering them lowers their nutrition by I think some 30% while all recipes only add 15% back at most. Unhappiness and Boredom can be treated via books, comics and sweets that you find while scavenging. This makes for very broken cooking system once you realize this and as many things in this game, the more you learn the more you are disappointed with what the game encourages you to do with mechanics that are very unrefined and flawed.
The biggest threat you will face is the nutrition as even eating entire rabbit a day might not be enough if the catch wasn't big enough. I suggest focusing much, much more on the meat rather than veggie as the hunger is just easy to deal with even with Hearty Appetite compared to nutrition which lowers your weight at constant rate forcing you to do either trapping or fishing extensively and you end up satisfying the hunger just by catching up with the nutrition you need per day to stay fit. Especially if you spend few days exercising, chopping wood or fighting zombies you will find that you'll need even 2 rabbits a day at times and third one just to make up for the nutrition already lost. You will waste a lot of hunger points if you don't take advantage of the 'Stuffed' positive moodle which temporarily increases your strength by 2 levels so ideally eat them right before a fight to gain maximum value out of them. If you fully stuff yourself with let's say 200 Hunger points, you will have the Stuffed moodle for 1-2 hours by default. Hearty Appetite trait will reduce the time this moodle lasts while the Light Eater trait extends it.
You can turn off nutrition in the sandbox setting. I really like the idea of it, but it just doesn't compliment the hunger management whatsoever to the point taking Hearty Appetite doesn't hinder you a bit, because hunger is just a side-quest you complete on your journey to satisfying the nutritional requirements. Cooking is only useful if you need to reduce Hunger, Unhappiness and Boredom, but in terms of nutrition, meat loses it from butchering, veggie gets a slight increase, but veggie has basically none nutrition at all so it doesn't even matter.
If you are really into cooking and like it, the best recipes for fresh ingredients would be Stir-Fry with Frying Pans. You don't waste water and you get the same positive effects. For stale ingredients the best is a soup just as the TV cooking show probably already taught you. Rotten you can use with high enough cooking skill, but by the time you reach that level, you will already be set with a farm, traps and safety, most likely few months already in the apocalypse. Overall I would give it rating of 2/5 if you are wondering whether to prioritize grinding this skill or not.
There are certain inedible items that can be eaten only if used in a recipe, flour for instance. Also if you try to eat berries individually vs. in a salad you can eat a lot at once saving time. Cooking can also reset some of the staleness of food. I am not sure how you can declare the boring grind of watering plants and checking traps often are more enjoyable that cooking, but to each there own. I like it!
