Is it somehow possible to have the cloned cubes randomly scaled (uniformly) BUT aligned to the bottom for example? Thanks in advance.
It is. You can move the axis of an editable object and if you prefer to keep it parametric you can place it inside a null that is positioned at the bottom of the cube.

You could try the push apart effector or rigid body simulations.

You could use a random effector as a child with deformer set to point. Then use a field to control which points it works on.
