wow this actually worked. I have a 2019 Polaris sportsman 570. when i turn the key nothing happens. so i replaced the ignition switch with key, new solenoid and battery. still same problem been a month. so finally i stumbled across the video for the 3rd time i said f it let me try the ground since day 1 i couldn't figure out why the 2 pin connection at the solenoid had power, turns out the ecm is sending ground so some shit. But his worked and i can finally use the key again. big thank you to corey!!

Very helpful info, but I wish the video included the engine running so we could hear the noise....to compare it to what we’re experiencing.

Awesome. My ground shorted hot at all times, so this helped me a lot. Thanks!!

Thanks for the wiring identification. Helpful for bypassing module and start break switch.

@coreywilson I am having trouble with my 2020 sportsman not starting as well. I get the rapid shatter when turning the key. It used to start after trying multiple times but now it just chatters and never turns over. When it used to start, I never got any chatter while it was running like yours. Just while attempting to start. Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds exactly like a problem I've been having since the spring!
I have an '04 Sportsman 700 that I purchased last fall. During early spring after plowing snow I turned off the machine and it started firing the starter repeatedly. The key and toggle kill switch did nothing and it smoked the starter. I replaced the starter and solenoid then ran some tests where I found current was coming to the solenoid when it should not have been. At this point I replaced the ignition switch and would disconnect the battery after each use so that it wouldn't burn the garage down...A month or so later during the warmer months I took it for a ride and the solenoid started clicking again. I turned off the machine and it continuously engaged again. This time it melted the solenoid and smoked the new starter.
I decided to take the plastics off and trace the White/Red signal wire looking for a short. I haven't been able to find any issue with the wire and it's been sitting in my garage all summer. Maybe it's this negative wire that has been the culprit!

I have been having this exact same problem with the engine continuously trying to fire up while the ignition switch and key or turned off. Except my solenoid is already grounded directly to the frame and the red and white wire is hooked up to the solenoid… But it is still trying to fire up randomly after attempting to shut off

@@anthonylondoiro7256 if you haven't done so already, try cutting that wire. That was my issue and I haven't had any problems in two years. Thanks Corey!

Iv got the same exact atv 500 EFI 07’ except mine is acting up in a a similar but different way.. I can’t seem to figure it out tho, when you go to turn the key there is no audible click from the starter relay / no power to the gauge cluster fuel pump doesn’t kick on its completely dead besides for some indicator light switches for the light bars. The weird part is everything was fine until the other day when I used the winch as soon as I hit the winch button the machine just died on me no power no nothing just like said symptoms above. So I replaced the starter relay solenoid thinking that would be the fix. Well surprisingly no still acting up on me. Kinda besides my self at the moment I really don’t know which way to go with it at the moment. If anyone is reading this and thinks they might have a clue then I’m all ears!! I’d really appreciate it. I’m not ready to pay someone to fix it just yet. Love some feedback on the issue!! Thanks fellas have a great new year!

Have you checked the fuses? They are under the cover on the front panel below the handlebars towards the front.
