Use to live camping. Wasn't crazy about crowded camping parks though. Use to hike and primitive camp the back country at Hocking Hills and Yellowstone National Park. Too old, with health problems now. But I get to wAtch people like you doing what I loved.

Next time you go to Tocumwal, go to Apex park, it’s on the same road to the van park ( bridge street) but after 1km turn off to your right, camp on the sand bar with your van 👌

I think we need to add a coffee machine our camping setup too!

Ha ha absolutely! Troy’s the coffee fan and I’m a hot chocolate girl. If you have the inverter setup you can add a coffee machine for sure, just check the wattage of it first. 🙏

What a great video, it certainly brought back some memories... ⛺ We went to Tocumwal Beach, on the Vic side of Toc', free camping over New Years Eve a few years back, and planned for me to 'babysit' our van, our daughter's van, and 1 other van while everyone else shot back home for work, etc. then return for the Australia Day weekend. That rain event you experienced on the way there? I was caught up in something similar with a 🐟🦀 60ml downpour in 3-4 minutes. The gazebo started catching the water and collapsed under the weight. 2 broken roof stays and 1 broken leg! All cool, the missus wanted to kill me when I rang and told her, but I convinced her not to. The next day dawned clear, blue, and bright and I started drying gear out. 🦈🎣 A breeze kicked in so the temp stayed down about 35C and I started to relax - BAD move! Next thing the breeze whipped straight up into a gale-force wind, pulled the pegs on the awning, and blew it up and over the van - Net result? 1 bent leg, 1 snapped leg on the awning.
It was the best, 🚌 hottest, busiest camp we had been on in quite a while! 🐠🏕
    Cheers for now, Andrew

Hi Andrew, sounds like you had an eventful time in Tocumwal. Have you been back since? I’m well aware of the winds and having an awning out, when we get the new van I will be watching it like a hawk! The weather and scenery in Tocumwal is awesome. It does get crowded but generally all good people. That’s our first stop on our travels around Oz soon!

@@JourneyUnknown We called back into the same area just recently, on our way up through NSW. We found the last vacant area and got about setting the van up. Normally, the first thing I do when we stop anywhere is to walk the dogs and give them water. This time, it was put on hold as 2 large dogs suddenly appeared, sniffing about and showing signs of wanting to meet our pups, however... our oldest pup (my wife's), is a Chihuahua x Miniature Poodle. She fits into a pocket in my jacket, and she is coming up 14 years old. She has a small-dog mindset and does not play well with others. My puppy, on the other hand, is an American Staffy X Staghound. Her name is Harley, she is 16 months old and weighs about 55kg. She has the most beautiful temperament and loves life, loves people, and loves other dogs. She is boisterous and if she sees you, she will bound over to you to say hello. Not many people enjoy seeing the sight of my "puppy" running straight at them. We could not find the owners of the other dogs, so we packed up and traveled through to Finley. We stumbled upon Finley Lakeside Caravan Park - it was absolutely beautiful, dog-friendly, the owners are incredibly sweet, and they have Happy Hour at 6pm. Here's the Google Maps co-ords www.google.com/maps/place/Finley+Lakeside+Caravan+Park/@-35.6342299,145.577455,17z/data=!4m8!3m7!1s0x6b20a17f87fb5f5b:0xa2459531a43f23b5!5m2!4m1!1i2!8m2!3d-35.6339683!4d145.5791931
just in case you want to have a look :-)
Anyway, I'm interested in following your adventures as we are going to get around Oz soon - just not sure when - so I'll be looking for the vids!

Those bloody steaks made my mouth water.....so i just bbq'd a couple of chops to chew, news is on soon 😂😂
BTW rubbing soap on zip teeth makes them run quieter and stops snags.👍

Less dramatic than your last adventure. Any chance of a walkthrough video of the canopy setup?

Hi Peter! Yes it was a lot more relaxed this trip! Yes can do, the Hilux is actually up for sale and we’re slowly building up the Navara. We’ll see what we can put together.
