Beautiful JOS.... what type of pencil are you using to making the line drawing with? Is it charcoal? Also, when you make a medium using linseed oil, could you use mineral spirits (Gamsol, Turpenoid) instead of turpentine?
hello Ed, no its a pigment marker. (I think there is acrylic paint in there ). For medium I used 2 parts stand oil, 2 parts poppy oil and 1 part venice turp................
thnx ! I use a lot of different brushes, starting with Rosemary's bristles, then later for details, Van Gogh ox hair round brushes and Rosemary's sable liners. For softening I also use Langnickel 5590 and larger house painter's brushes.........
At the start of the video what did you do with your hands? Did you dampen it with water? And what does it do??:) I love your works! Whenever I do still life I always visit your videos to study.. :D
Great demo Jos.

Very nice Jos.
What do you use for priming the paper with?
Or do you use canson oil paper?
Still using Lefranc & Bourgeois gesso, thinned with about 1/2 water, and with some black gesso and brown acrylic paint added......
What size brushes did you use on this painting? I love your work by the way. You inspire me.;-)

thnx ! I'm rubbing some medium on the painting. This way the paint flows off the brush more easily.........
josvanr does your medium contain solvent, I was curious if you could paint into a thin layer of walnut oil without adding solvent
Stephen Baker No, only stand oil, poppy oil and venice turp.... Yes sure you can use walnut oil without turps ...
