    I really dig the coaching angle segment you pitched. I'm whole heartedly for coaching as long as it doesn't interrupt the flow of action.

    Oldschool pools and Tournament’s where my fav. Not even oldschool really just pre 2020.
    It used to be that every weekend there was a big offline or even 2. I could just casually tune in sat and Sunday. Pools were always my fav to watch because sometimes you would see those top players playing Johnny Donuts and he just goes ham or the legendary Ghandi match.

    Just FYI the reason why Inside the NBA is gone is not because of NBC. They were always going to be apart of the new tv contract. The reason is because TNT thought they could low ball the NBA in their newest contract and Amazon came in with double their offer and bought them out lol. Alot of fans are upset at TNT because we love that show so much. But anyways great video detailing how we can get financial support keep up the great work!

      Oh interesting. I thought NBC just outbid TNT. Didn’t realize TNT tried to lowball them.

    Waka Flocka Flame. Start there. Reach out to all the most popular gaming influencers, you all put your heads together and come up with a brand new, never done before idea. Go beyond just a gaming tournament. Right now we are trying to shoot straight to the point and get sponsors by getting viewers but we are trying to get viewers by presenting the same thing we are already presenting just hoping to add a shiny new coat of paint. i.e bigger, better tournaments; increasing quality and production, ideas to make tournaments more interesting etc. That's not enough.
    It's totally ok for tournaments to take a supporting role so long as we get the eyes first. If we had soemthing that was much more than videogames it would expand to non-gamers too which is already what we need to expand the community anyway, more so to generate more eyes on competitive gaming.
    We have already seen this formula in action several times now. Capcom got Weezy to promote SF6. Who doesn't know Weezy? lol Nintendo developed a console to reach casual players. This is the audience that will increase viewership so what fresh, crazy new thing can we do to reach that audience?

    FGC model to grow would be creating a league, similar to the EWC and SFL model, but you would need to have all the top games, top players and top commentators. That way we're consolidating viewership and top players.
    Now doing this without money would need to start with top tournaments like CEO, ECT, Combo Breaker etc consolidating into one league with one brand, then having someone like TNS running qualifiers for these events..it would be a US tour for every game at the same time and we'd need a final event.
    In a nutshell the FGC and all our tournaments are like having 20 different streaming services and networks trying to split a pie that isn't large enough, in business people tend to consolidate when these situations arise.
    EDIT: after some more research i take back what i said its more complicated than that 😂

      @@TonyTheTGR yea if we think about gaming as a sport it's like any sport, you can't monetize it without a league with the best talent, and even then you need big personalities to increase viewership, look at Caitlin Clark, TOs gotta work as a unit for that

    I genuinely think that gaming tournaments should consolidate into a tournament circuit and become more of gaming convention. Offer panels - cosplay - artist row - places for people to buy sell and trade hobbyist goods etc all being the back drop of a tournament

    • @TonyTheTGR
      @TonyTheTGR 9 днів тому

      Combo Breaker already does this to an extent. Granted, it's a tournament first and foremost, and everything else builds *around* that, but it's not very far off.

    I'm really confused on what Sony brings to the table at EVO. Do they just provide PS5s and that's it? Can't they give out some pot bonuses at least? It's weird how Chipotle seems like a bigger entity during EVO instead of Sony who owns it.

    • @TonyTheTGR
      @TonyTheTGR 10 днів тому

      They own it. They license the arena, provide over half the setup including all the PS4/PS5 systems, they're responsible for the brand recognition and merch, all kinds of stuff.

    • @comradetyrone2298

      @@TonyTheTGR Evo tickets were $200 and 20,000+ people went there. They raised more than $4 million on that alone. I doubt Sony had to pay out of their own pockets for any of what you listed as EVO has been doing thit for decades without any major corporation backing them up. If you compare last Evo to the previous EVOs without Sony, then nothing really changed except that they didn't have to have thousands of CRTs for Smash and now it's Top 6 instead of Top 8 and there's PS5 giveaways I guess during that. I was specifically asking for what Sony brings to the table that was not already being done by Evo themselves beforehand and there's really not much to write about.

      Hahaha. Hey, you know me and Drive Impacts, I've LOVE that. Hahaha. I'd still probably die to them, but there is a danger of them becoming useless. I'm sure they tested it amongst everyone playtesting it to see what the right balance point is. HOWEVER, when you watch the highest levels, I will say that more DIs are SUCCESSFUL than countered. That's from my naked eye. I could probably be dead wrong. But I wouldn't mind a slower DI for sure. LOL!

    Bit of a random comment but I actually liked it when you and David would go on and on and on about guilty gear. "I really like this about this" etc. and I'd be laying in bed listening with a big smile on my face! I found it nice! The fact that you're saying you want to get into Tekken feels weird. Remember that episode of Seinfeld when George kept saying his worlds were colliding? 😆 "You're killing independent George!" I really didn't mind that Tekken was always outside of your wheelhouse, and it was always generally well known that you were really into guilty gear. Big fan 👍

    I was literally watching DBFZ content, amazed at the numbernof views videos were getting for such a .....disappointing game when i realized, sadly, the FGC is kinda cursed. DBFZ gets so man eye balls because of the IP alone, which is ironic because the game isn't held in high regard in our community. Yet, somehow that doesn't matter because it has just enough "wow" factor to bring in rando's & casuals. Then you look at a game like Tekken & SF6 which deserves alot of love for being (at a bare minimum) good products. Then there's MK1..........
    In short, its like our scene is a bunch of helpless romantics. We deserve better, more even, but the world just treats us like shit. 😅
    P.s. I honestly ain't trippin, business is business.

      I mean, I get it. But at the same time, It's his decision. And it's not like he DIDN'T get good enough. He clearly put in the time. He set out a goal for himself and he achieved it. How many movies have we seen where someone tries to win something for a big prize money so they can live comfortably and we cheer them on in a feel-good movie? I mean, to an outsider, being mad that someone who won 1 million dollars via a tournament decides to retire and live off of that through investments and stuff would sound downright silly. It's a very honorable goal, let's be honest.

      He trained to improve, then went there and won the biggest tournament with the biggest prize that existed at that time, with the motivation of avoid work and stay simping for Vtubers (with probably bigger donations now). But you just chose to attack those motivations instead. Anyways nobody there was able to stop him, with their "superior" (?) motivations and real passion for the game... and of course little interest in the prize money amounts.
