    I've been The Sweet Potato Casserole guy for 25 years in my family using a pecan crust nothing else. Marshmallow and or rasins may be for people of the Yankee persuasion but not for us. Every year they say it taste better than the year before. Using real butter, brown eggs, real vanilla, A little sweetened condensed milk, sugar and a dash of salt my secret seasoning

      @RestaurantRecipeRecreations  Рік тому +5

      Yes, not a fan of the marshmallows and raisins!💯 agree!

      Brown eggs are no different from every other egg. Only difference is the breed it comes from.

      Have u ever tried the crust on the bottom AND the top using a deep deep pan? Sigh. The best part is the crust so why not put it top and bottom!

    I have a BFF from Mississippi and she has been baking the sweet potato casserole for over 30 years with the pecan topping and everything. At our gathering it has always been a hit and highly requested. She's almost 80 years old now so this recipe has been around a long time apparently. I will make this casserole next weekend for a special event. Than you for sharing. 🤗

    Last year, I felt that I was going to be so pressed for time on Thanksgiving that I needed to prep as much as possible. So, the night before the big day, I made the filling AND the pecan topping (I was thinking in terms of the Dutch crumb apple pies in the freezer section of the grocery store that you buy and bake yourself). I then assembled everything, put it in the freezer, pulled it out a couple of hours before I baked it, so the filling would thaw a bit, and baked it. It tasted amazing and looked amazing as well.
    I, also cube some frozen butter and threw it in the food processor along with the some pecan halves, flour, and brown sugar. I pulsed it to incorporate everything, then pour it onto the sweet potato filling.

    It’s such a little thing but there’s this Italian eatery in San Jose California that makes the best tortellini Alfredo… But my favorite part of the meal is their garlic bread… And it seems to me it’s nothing more than some sort of garlic butter/oil on top of sandwich rolls cut into pieces… But I cannot re-create it. If you call them will they give you the recipe? Does it need to be a well-known restaurant in order for you to try and re-create something? Either way it’s called Angelo’s Pizza in San Jose California on Blossom Hill Road. Thank you so much!

    the recipe on the Ruths Chris website is the same except says only 2 cups of mashed sweet potatoes and makes serving of 4. You used probably 3-4 cups of potatoes. I am not sure what to do.

      Hi Gail, to make the quantity shown (for larger gatherings) use 4. Happy Thanksgiving!💕🍁

    Unsolicited advice, unless you are a diabetic and or have some sort of bad response to sugar and butter… stop making cakes or sweet potatoes or other treats with butter sugar alternatives. If it’s a poundcake, it’s supposed to have a pound of sugar and a pound of butter. That’s why it’s called a poundcake. If you don’t want a pound cake or cake then don’t eat cake. But if it requires sugar and butter, just use sugar and butter. The milk scenario I do understand some people are intolerant. So I’ll take exception in that. I understand that I’m not into intolerant, but I do understand it. Now everyone go out into the world and be great.😊😊😂😂❤

    Isn’t there supposed to be a lot of sugar and other mixing in the pecans as well?

      Not in the recipe that I have, I feel that would make the entire side dish too sweet.

      @@RestaurantRecipeRecreations hey! So I tried this and it came out super greasy and very loose almost like the topping and the sweet potatoes never quite bonded together. . I think less butter next time and even less sugar and it’s a 10/10 for my family and I. Thanks!

      @@RestaurantRecipeRecreations You have this same response in your videos from a year ago. Still no website. Until you get that up and running, putting them in your descriptions would be really helpful. Best wishes!

    Thank you for the video. I will be following this recipe today. [constructive feedback: please look at the camera lens and not the camera screen. It looks like you are talking to someone besides the viewer and this is a pet peeve for a lot of viewers. I think you will get a lot more viewers if you look at them, and not the camera screen.] Happy Thanksgiving.
