RETREADING HAS COME A LONG WAY. I WORKED AT A RETREAD SHOP 20 YEARS AGO. THAT WAS HARD AND SEVERELY HOT WORK EVEN IN THE WINTER TIME. WE DID IT ALL BY HAND AND THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE BAKED FOR HOURS IN BAKING CHAMBERS. THIS NEW METHOD SEEMS MUCH EASIER AND PRECISE.
Hi dear sir. I heard that the micro dust of carbon inhaled in tire manufacturering line can cause cancer…:(( it that true? Did you get any health status checking periodically from that company?
They take old and tired take the old names off of them repair them 100% put new tread on them put their name on them and sell them. What a freaking awesome idea. I guess the colored stripe means the retreads
As you look at all the workers doing their jobs in this video consider this. That is hard work with above average pay. Ladies if you want to solve the wage Gap it's time to put in an application and take one of these hard jobs.
Women can do this job, there are electric hoists for the bigger tires, and passenger tires are light, and you need to think your sexist comments through before you make them. You say women can't do this job AND its high paying ...what planet are you from? What university do you have to go to, to get a semi-skilled job, which is what this is? No offense to the workers, I've worked at repairing tires for a couple of years.

7:30 I noticed instead of putting a new layer of tread on the casing - as in most retreading process - this factory simply remolded the tread. Interesting.
There are two different retreading processes , there's cold retreading (the one you mentioned - replacing the old tread with a new one) and hot retreading (remoulding the tread). If you have questions about these, please read our article radburgtyres.com/hot-and-cold-retreading/ or drop them below and I will do my best to help.
I like the design and engineering process.. I buy 4pcs of all season for my subaru.. the only problem is since I installed them I feel really bad vibration after reaching speed of 110km/h. I'm trying to reach them to report the problem. But no one is answering on the phone. Maybe at least to replace them I will be more than happy and satisfied.
Justo acabo de adquirir un juego completo para mi carro, veremos como se desempeñan. La primera impresion ha sido bueno, se nota el agarre y las llantas no son muy ruidosas.
We collect old tyres across Europe and separate them into two categories: for retreading and for recycling. We do the manufacturing of retreads and the recycling of old tyres in house and this way, we minimize the rubber waste going into landfills.
This is recycling at it's best! So, so many tyres out there and if as they were brought in for a new set the old set could be sent straight of to be recycled. I wonder how much of a longer life we would have instead of the throw away culture we now seem to be in. It is almost as though manufacturers are building in failure into every item. At one time changing a light bulb in a car was a simnple do it yoursef process, now with the new LED headlights connected to a computer in the car system means the whole unit needs to be replaced or at least it is no longer DIY. Everything seems so overly compex with crud that just is not needed.
This is really impressive, what an operation, really organized and efficient. What do you do with those tires that do not qualify to be retreaded? I had seen retreaded tires for trucks, heavy equipment machinery and for airplanes, but I noticed that most of the tires are for passenger cars. Your process seams to be top of the line and the product seems as good as a those from tire manufacturers for passenger cars. Who buys those tires and what is your main market? Do you put on a new DOT number in them? how old can be a tire in order to be considered good enough to be retreaded? Congratulations on an excellent work that does a lot of good for the environment since those tires do not end up in landfills.
Older comment, yet I know the answers to some of those questions. So here we go: Tires that are not good enough for retreading are shredded and made into different products (anti slipping mats for example) or burnt in cement factories. At least in my country, most retreaded tires are sold via internet, either Ebay or online shops that have specialized on tires. Usually new DOT number is put on the tire, as the rubber parts exposed to sunlight are completly removed and the rubber below was protected. Sunlight is the number 1 factor that ages tires.

Everytime I hear about or see an accident that involves blown tires, it's the remoulded ones that's the cause of the accident. Recycling old tires is nice and all, but it's the one point I rather have safety coming first.
Properly retreaded tires are just as safe. What you see is in fact not a failure of the retread. What you see is a tire that was run underinflated which will cause the tread to separate from a new or retread tire. People just think that because they see a tread block on the road or fly off a truck it's a retread, all tires will fail in that manner if they are ran underinflated and thus overheat causing the rubber to de-bond from the cords. Just look back at the Bridgestone/Firestone debacle with the Ford Explorer. Tires failing in exactly that manner, tread separation then blowout. Main cause was Ford recommending a far lower inflation pressure to make the Explorer ride smoother then the tire was designed for. Retreading is almost exclusively for commercial tires. Passenger vehicle tires do not get professionally retreaded. What you see in the beginning of this is this plant also inspects used tires to see if they are still good. Far better then the used tires you'll see sitting on a rack on a service station that might just get a cursory hand feel.
I have radburg tires on my car. radburg made in Eu. they ride better and more smooth than the Chinese tires I had before. also had for over 1 year still look new I give them 5 stars
Technology has advanced so much in the last years. Both, a retread and a new tyre go through the same testing and in Europe retreads are legal and safe.
Hmmm. That steel belt inside radial tires tends to separate over time. Besides after all this that is all that's left. And if not. Why not just make your own brand of tires? Then there is the real environmental impact which is the small rubber particles that this process generates. That tend to float through the air that we all breathe, and eventually gets deposited over the north and south poles, further melting global ice. Since it darkens the color of snow and ice and causes it to melt. Yep, the environmental impact is actually greater after this, go figure.
The beginning of the video already show this is a carbon rich making process. And the safety and lifespan of rethread tyre will always be a big question mark.
