Man I wish I could get a chance to drive on roads like where you were driving I mean the adrenaline that must've been felt must've felt amazing over here 4:15
Is the engine on your 320i completely stock or did you do some modifications to it? I have a e36 320i with the 5 speed automatic transmission and it seems way slower. The manual gearbox seems to make the car much more agile! I also have a 323ti Compact (misleading name it has a 2.5 liter inline six) with the manual gearbox which feels much more powerful than my 320i touring automatic. I always thought it’s the 0.5 liters more displacement and the lighter weight of the Compact, but now I think it’s the manual gearbox that makes it so much more powerful and agile. Hell it’s hard to not spin the rear wheels of the compact even in completely dry conditions, while the touring is not spinning out even when it’s really wet or snowy outside. I need to almost fully put the pedal to the medal to make the touring spin the wheels slightly in this rough conditions. It’s not that it’s lacking power, the 0-100kmh time is even faster than advertised and it maxes out at 240km/h. The Compact however is almost undrivable in snowy conditions, the rear wheels even spin slightly when starting in third gear. The traction control is also completely useless in these conditions because they slow down the wheels so much that the engine starts to stall when trying to take of. The system seems to fully lock the rear brakes when the wheels keep spinning after it tried to apply mild braking. I’m really glad that BMW let’s you shut off the traction control completely to this day - my new G31 530d xDrive Touring still can drive without any electronic helpers besides ABS and it gets wheelspin on all 4 tires when I floor it unlike most other German car manufacturers today. Volkswagen, Audi, and even most more recent Mercedes models will not let you completely disable traction control and electronic stability control anymore which is a shame and sometimes even hazardous in snowy conditions.
as an e36 owner with the same motor, these motors love the high rpms. and when you swap out the usually failing cooling system like this guy probably has done, these motors will last well over 450 to 600k with proper maintenance even when you rev the piss out of them
