Thank you very much for this, because of your reviews/video's of this Ryobi Crushing Shredder, I've just popped down to Bunnings and bought one, can't wait to try it, I have loads of branches I need to put through it.

Thank Cliff, this is a very clever design. I find the removal of blades to sharpen can be a real pain in some units.

Thanks mate for all your help. I bought the new RSH2445B and it is the same sharpening method.

You ripper! I was about to get my blade sharpener out and sharpen the blade before I found out has an on board sharpenener.
It's quite a hard bit of kit so you probably saved me an hour of work.
Thankyou very much for the information Cliff really appreciate it and if you were local to Logan City I'd buy you a beer!
    🙏

Should the blade be cleaned after use ? If so how do you do a simple maintance clean ? Is the blade area waterproof ? can it be hosed out ???

Where do you buy the shaving plate and cutter blade replacement parts? I can’t tighten the knob anymore so I figure the shaving plate is worn?

Hi, how do you remove the blade once cover is off? I’ve just ordered a new blade for a similar model

Hi Cliff, I have a Ryobi RSH2445S and I am having difficulty removing the front cover. The manual shows the same steps as on your utube video but even after removing the top top plastic cowling so I could tap the front cover from behind I still havent got the front cover off. Is the "S" model different in any way?

Hi William Mine is also a RSH2445S also which is the crushing shredder, there is a RSH2445B which is an impact shredder and from what I can tell both have the same basic construction although the B looks to be a slightly different shape. The only comment I can make about getting the blade cover off is that the shaft is supported by a large bearing in the cover and this is probably where you are having problems it is a very neat fit. What I would do in this case is boil some very hot water and pour it onto the face of the cover to see if it will allow the housing to expand a little allowing it to move off. Hope this helps.

@@clensmedia6514 Your suggestion worked well. I got the cover off which allowed me to find the problem. I had suspected that the shaving plate might have been worn down but it wasnt. The shaving plate adjusting mechanism appeared frozen but with some wd40 and a lot of cleaning of saw dust etc out of the whole area it freed up and I could sharpen the blades again. thanks again for your video and your response to my query.

I would suggest it’s not a good idea, the electric motor could be damaged.

I have an older version of your shredder and does not have the turning knob on the side or the plate to be removed.

Hi Elaine I am not sure what to say, you should contact Ryobi to find out how to sharpen your model.

When I went to remove the blades the spindle (I think that’s what it’s called) came out at the same time…now I can’t get it back in…sigh…why does everything have to be so hard…any ideas on how i can get the spindle back in so I can get the blades back on?

Sorry to hear you had this happen to you, I must admit I did not explore much further than the blade hub you may have to contact Ryobi for support with this. Just in case I will have a look at mine tomorrow but can’t promise I will have the answer.

@@clensmedia6514 thanks for responding, I'll keep working at it :< contacting Ryobi is a good idea, so I'll give that a go later if I don't have any success. The shaft just came away with the blades, so there must be a solution to getting it back in. Thanks again :-))

It should go in easily. You might need to rotate it as you push it in to engage the square fitting that holds it. Probably easier with the blade off, but be careful not to lose the key that sits in the spindle to lock the blade.

    • @lis819
      @lis819 2 місяці тому

@@davidcottee2808 Thanks! After three days of trying, one of the guys from Bunnings looked at a photo I’d sent in and suggested that the gears may have slipped and it was then that I saw that where the spindle locked onto could be moved a fraction which would allow the squared off part of the spindle to enter. It must have dropped down a bit somehow :/ So I tipped the motor upside down…no luck … then on its side, the spindle slotted right in no worries…what a relief!!! Good tip about the key and I was making sure not to lose it and put it back on the spindle before replacing the blades :)) thanks again for responding 👍
