The original formation of the band was in 1973 catching gigs wherever they could but they hadn't gained any notoriety so Paul Robert's (lead singer and founder) dissolved the band and moved to France where he met Luigi Salvoni who had heard a couple of Robert's demos and decided to be Paul's producer and drummer.Salvoni used to be in a band called Moon along with guitarist Loz Netto, who also joined the group. Always thought of the ‘n’ as abbreviation for “and”, rather than sniffin’ the tears as you read it. I love that you noticed that the lead vocalist presents like he doesn’t care, very low-key, and did you notice that the drummer, who is in the background of most every vocal shot does not stop for one second?! I have been listening to music since 1969 and this song from summer of 79 is still one of my favorite songs of all time! - so stoked that you reviewed it and liked it. I know you have 1 million requests but their follow up song was called “new lines on love” and it’s a pretty cool tune as well and it is also on UA-cam.

first of all, you guys did the tiny radio edit. the full version gives you a fuller experience. 2nd, to hear this song for the first time and the only time, you could not possibly understand the levels of appreciation that come from digging it the first time, re-experiencing it years later and realizing that you like it a lot more than you thought you did.... and then doing that again, 2 more times!! the layers are infectious and sadly underrated at it's inception but the song has blossomed into the beautiful gold nugget that it was always intended to be... like a fine wine. those who know, know. music and songs sometimes have an unsaid cult following. this is one of those songs. love you guys!!
This sound is power pop late 70s, which has its own sound and often gets overlooked or lumped into the 80s. Other examples would be Hot Child in the City by Nick Gilder, Magnet and Steel by Walter Egan and Gold by John Stewart. It truly was a transitional sound and one of my very favorite sounds of the late 70s.
First time I’ve watched your channel … you guys seem fantastic! Great personalities and wonderful break-down and reactions to one of my favorite songs of all time! I approve! 👍
The lead singer was also an aspiring novelist. In one of his works there was a band called The Tears. He suggested using it for this group. While recording, the singer was suffering from hay fever. A producer suggested they be called Snif and the Tears. He went with Snif n the Tears, like Rock n Roll.
One could see the band as a guy called "Sniff" and the band is "the Tears", i.e. Sniff and the Tears. Not sure if that is the intention or not. It is an interesting song, almost representing a transition from late 70s guitar driven rock and the early intro into keyboard new wave. I am glad you did this tune though, since in tends to get lost in the shuffle.
Very strange song. The drums never change once. That’s why it’s hypnotic. If you think about it, the other instruments all sound like they’re playing a different song but it works.

This was released in 1978.
Great suggestions! Love all those tracks!
🥰🥰🥰
So happy you came across this old gem!
That smooth sounds can also be heard in bands like Fleet Foxes, Houndstooth, Innocence Mission, Golden Palominos, The Sundays, Sneaker Pimps...from roughly the same era, I think. Cool share y'all thanks!
Love this song!!! My fav radio station, WLIR then WDRE 92.7 FM always played Driver's Seat! I cannot believe that you haven't reacted yet to You Spin Me by Dead Or Alive, a fun New Wave song with a great music video. Reacting to You Spin should be a top priority, ask anyone that knows it! That's a quirky band name, Dead or Alive, so is Violent Femmes (Blister In the Sun), Love & Rockets (Ball of Confusion), Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Relax).
There's a good documentary on WLIR out there, you should check it out.
I went to the LI premiere in Port Washington to see it, & I own 2 DVDs somehow, lol. I met with Rich, a fan who was interviewed for the movie, I'm in a WLIR group on FB. The movie might still be on Showtime, they changed the title to New Wave: Dare To Be Different.
@@arielpena6564 Yup, that's the one, guess you were very on top of it-- most LI'ers I know had no idea it was out.
@@Teraxx23 I listened to WDRE all the time, at home, at work & in the car, up until they went off the air. I moved back to LI after the station changed to WDRE.
The whole album is really good--well worth a listen.
Awesome, now Donny Iris - Ah Leah. Donny turn 80 this year and still rocks it.
Great tune.
This was a great tune for cruisin' the circuit in downtown Calgary that summer....Memories....!!!!
Can’t drive slow when this song comes on!!🤘🔥
Amber and Jay, imagine being teens back then and blasting this on the radio while driving an old Mustang around - my now wife and I did!
One of the great songs from 1979 that helped kill Disco. Even though they were a one hit wonder, they shared the charts with My Sharona, I Want You To Want Me, Let's Go by the Cars, and even The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
1000s of other great songs from 1975 till midnight 1979 Dec 31s other than DISCO, TOTO APRIL WINE THE STONES BOB SEAGER BACK BETTY RAM JAM I CAN NAME A LIST 50 MILES LONG THEMID TO LATE70s where packed with way more that just disco maybe 20 percent of disco tops
you're doing the right thing if you're driving 200 on the Autobahn on a Saturday night and you hear this song.
There are very few songs that are well suited to driving a car - this is one of them
“1978” was an excellent year for music… even the 1 hit wonders were bangers 🔥❤️🎸
I think 78 and 79 were music's best years.
some serious new wave and rock ‘n’ roll to counteract the disco going on
totaly AGREA
first of all, you guys did the tiny radio edit. the full version gives you a fuller experience.
This is one of my favorite all-time songs
This is an absolutely awesome song to drive to, especially at night. Great pick and great reaction guys, thanks!
One of the better one-hit wonders. FM radio specialty. Great song for a road trip.
Tough to pick something from this... but the next song I often go to might be 'I Got You' by 'Split Enz' from 1980 I think. Great tune. Cheers.
Three incredible songs named there. Gold by John Stewart is truly next level.
Great song! One of a kind.
First time I’ve watched your channel … you guys seem fantastic! Great personalities and wonderful break-down and reactions to one of my favorite songs of all time! I approve! 👍
Y'all should try the band Climax blues band song Couldn't Get it Right.
Excellent groove. Hope they react to it.
Probably 5 years or more since I heard this song but as soon as it started I was singing along.
Quite a few great one hit wonders from the mid to late 70s. Try John Stewart,Gold, featuring Stevie Nicks and Sky High by Jigsaw.
two other timeless, fantastic songs!
This is a great song to play while just cruising around late at night.
Great tune guys! I think that you're gonna love it, I know I did when it came out! Enjoy! ✌🇨🇦♥️
Takes me back to the 70's I was 18 ....we had a blast....still love this song
SO WAZ I BORN IN 1960
Could y’all do some more Susan Tedeschi songs?
Also, check out “Midnight in Harlem” by Tedeschi Trucks Band (live recording).
This song BANGs to me...I discovered it not too long ago. They often play it on German radio, it binstanlty became one of my favs.
If you want another pure 80s sound, that's actually from 1979, try " walking in the rain" by Flash and the Pan
Or Drugs in my pocket by the Monks
Lol I didn't think anyone else on the planet knew walking in the rain 😂
@@reedhensley it was so futuristic, you could mix it in current top 40, and it wouldn't sound that out of place lol
@@reedhensley bought the album for St Peter, but Rain was wayyyy better
Love that song, Listen to the album still, it's in the collection!@@reedhensley
Totally totally have loved this since its release in late 78 (so almost 80's) . Love you guys.
Very strange song. The drums never change once. That’s why it’s hypnotic. If you think about it, the other instruments all sound like they’re playing a different song but it works.
Beautiful! I haven't heard this in years.
I'm waiting For Bad Finger
I still play this song at least weekly… along with This Beat Goes On/Switching To Glide by the Kings!
