There's something about this that just gets into your soul. I was 9 years old when this movie came out and I remember watching it w my mom and dad . The same feeling I got then, is the same feeling I have still have now.
His trsining workout in this was way better than the original.. That black guy johnny was more helpful an active with Mickey training Rocky.. Mike wasn't active with Rocky. Mickey needed someone more active with like Johnny..
best training montage ever...the bells at the beggining, the slow build up in the music, the drama and struggle in just a few minutes..."speed! speed!!" damn
This is my favorite Rocky training montage. I think that it is the most inspirational of the six. My second favorite is Rocky III's since it's really cool to see him training alongside and being mentored by his former nemesis--Apollo Creed. The two in Rocky IV are fun--but they are a little bit over the top.
The MOST INSPIRATIONAL Movie this 11 year old kid saw in his lifetime in 1979 in the Movie Theater. Till this day their has never been another movie that even comes close. Sylvester Stallone = GENIUS
It's the kid that tries to keep up shouting 'Go go go!' Gets me every time... he's doing this for a better life for his wife and family. There's no greater motivation than that. (Yeah, I'm 50 now, wife and two kids, went to the wall for them too.)
I love this training montage. Its incredible while being its own montage it finds away to pay tribute yet to rival the first one. In the first montage it's gleeful, cheery, upbeat and feels fun. This is a little more intense, aggressive. In the first movie when Rocky says he can't beat Apollo. Adrian never disagrees once. She just ask what they should do. In the first movie Rocky wasn't the man he needed to be to beat Apollo and become the champion. In this movie after having a kid, becoming a better man, and having his wife and his city behind him. He's ready. Each chapter of this story serves a beautiful lesson with a slightly different meaning. Thank you Sly.
This workout montage is probably the most awe inspiring scene in movie cinema history and I've seen many movies in my day! Rocky doing those one handed push ups at the crack of dawn, if that doesn't give you goosebumps!
Know an old comment, but no contest, this is m favorite movie scene from any movie I've ever seen. Shows the deep love Rocky has for his wife, how his heart isn't in it without her, then the chiming bell as the light goes on in his soul and you can see it in his face when she tells him to win and he knows she's behind him 100%. Then the building crescendo of the music and the grit and determination shown in his training to go win it all this time for his wife, his kid, and himself. Complete masterpiece.
What makes the “win” part the 50x most inspirarional scene is the fact prior in the movie she did NOT want Rocky to fight anymore. Rocky gets lazy into a depressive state, the lenghty hospital and coma crap and then the way she changes her mind after seeing him down and wasted, turning his mood around in a split second.
I agree. Rocky II is the best movie in the entire series. The first movie is spectacular and comes in at a close second--but Rocky II has a perfect mix of action and drama, top notch acting, and a darker, more complex plot. The first two Rocky films are like one long epic movie--like Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981).
I watch this whenever i get time. It motivates me more than anything in the world. When i am pushing myself when training i always remember Mick pushing Rocky and it makes me go the extra distance. Awesome clip.
Stallone's right pectoral muscle was torn off its insertion on the upper humerus just before Rocky II was to begin filming. That's why he did the chin-ups while gripping his left wrist with his right hand. He could not do a normal pull-up. The focus pads and heavybag work is almost all left hooks and left jabs (a few right uppercuts). He does 1 arm-pushups on the left arm only unlike the alternating 1 arm-pushups that he did in the 1st film. Mickey has Rocky learn to fight orthodox instead of his normal southpaw to protect his right eye and to confuse Creed. In reality, fighting right-handed was to work around Stallone's pec injury because he couldn't punch with the right arm. Imagine a southpaw trying to fight with no right hand? You can see an obvious deformity, the muscle doesn't lay right as it goes into his right shoulder. Remarkable that he was able to work around it and conceal it so well. Later Stallone had surgery to reattach the muscle to his arm, but there always remained some deformity to his right pec.
Most of us are here watching this scene to get us motivated for something. I'm watching this scene to get me motivated to hit gym this morning. It definitely gets the job done. So, there's nothing wrong with getting some emotions watching this scene.
back in the day just from watching that movie i gained 40 pounds of pure muscle and after watching it and still hearing the bells of glory i went to my backyard and loaded the bar up to 500 lbs and did some ....strict curls. And i was only a teenager!!
3:18 - Before Captain America told the Avengers to Assemble, THIS was what made people feel like they could tear down mountains with their bare hands. A simple "win".
When I was a kid I loved Rocky. I used to train like him. Drinking raw eggs and everything. I was constantly preparing for my title shot. Lol. Good times.
When Adrian says “win” and you hear the first bell, everyone’s stamina and power increases by 50%… and after you watch this training montage you’re invincible.
When she says "win" its the m,oment when your head tilts back and out of your body comes a light that shines straight up into the dark night sky. So good.
This montage really captured sly Stallones vision of rocky, not just as an individual underdog, but representing the entire city of Philadelphia, which had a really bad run during the 70s and 80s.
Little known is the fact that the first 8 to ten unfortunate children to ascend the stairs were stunned with a furious volley of fists from the equally surprised Stallone
Amazing how just one word and one genuine expression with it is as powerful as a shot of adrenaline to a depleted body and soul. “Win!….WIN!” Chokes me up to this day seeing that.
I really owe everything to these scenes right here. Watched this video on repeat all of last year for some shit I was going through. Now I’m looking at this again using it as motivation to keep going to the gym. I’m 8 months strong at the gym😮💨
I used to box amateur and pro. Never got far, but I had a hell of a great trainer. Archie Moore trained me as much as he could towards the end of his life. The man gave me some incredible motivations and inspired me to the fullest! Thanks Archie!
I like the condensation trails in the sky at 3:34 seconds and 3:42 seconds. This movie was 40 years ago, so it proves that they didn’t exist back then contrary to what some people on the Internet are telling us.
He was keepin up for a minute. Its the difference in years and training that did him in, certainly not heart. I kinda wish one of the subsequent new Rocky movie had been about that kid growing up being inspired by that moment running with his idol to be a boxer himself and asking Rocky to train him.
First saw rocky 2 early 80s just fantastic so moving watching rocky training ,love these films 2,3and 4 my favourites seen them so many times just awesome, and of course burgess meridith as mickey was just awesome in the films
Always found it funny with kids running. Took Rocky months to build up to that and these kids completing run first try out including steps and jumping around! 😂😂😂❤️Rocky the best!!!
He knew he couldn't catch him and that was the idea. In that moment when the boy yelled "go go GOOOO" no one could catch rocky, he was in a league of his own. Similar to rocky 4 when Drago was doing his inclined workout and rocky was running up the summit. Drago hit his limit whereas rocky didn't hit his until he hit the peak showing in that moment no one can catch him and he had no limit.
There's something about this that just gets into your soul. I was 9 years old when this movie came out and I remember watching it w my mom and dad . The same feeling I got then, is the same feeling I have still have now.
Nothing like watching a 45 year old video to get me motivated for the gym each morning 💪
Just 'cause it's old don't mean it ain't good! ✌️🇺🇸
I'm @the Boxing Gym @0400hrs, what time do U get there???
That part where Mickey just starts shouting 'speed'... Is just motivating to me, goosebumps to me.
Rocky taught me to never give up. And that your dreams are worth fighting for!
Well said!
right on!
You really have to admire the struggle and pain Stallone put his body through in these rocky movies
Unbelievable
And you also gotta love great movies…god this is amazing!
Didn’t he actually hurt himself when they were filming this montage?
His trsining workout in this was way better than the original..
That black guy johnny was more helpful an active with Mickey training Rocky..
Mike wasn't active with Rocky. Mickey needed someone more active with like Johnny..
By Rocky 3, he didn't have enough body fat and was weak on set. Looked shredded, but not good for what is supposed to be a boxer.
best training montage ever...the bells at the beggining, the slow build up in the music, the drama and struggle in just a few minutes..."speed! speed!!" damn

the teleportation from one part of Philadelphia to another, distant part in two seconds...

Rocky movies are the best but creed movies are really good too
@@hudsonS238 I agree rocky movies are just different and symbolize life it’s self and all the struggles we face as we further progress in life
I don't believe I would have become the man I am today without the Rocky movies! If you didn't grow up with them, you can't understand...
Same. Rocky inspired me to stand up against bullies in school.
@@FarmersAreDummiesRocky inspired me to gain confidence in sparring
We used to punch each other when we're kids and stuff because of it i was obsessed with Rocky as a kid.
When she says I want you to win I still get goosebumps
me too. Had to replay that part several times.
Mate honestly it just kills me off everytime 😭
Definitely.
me2
I love the part where Rocky starts running full-throttle and theres that one kid who tries to keep up but in the end he cant
He will when he's older
@zoo topia damn right he will!
i love that too.st.annes top.i went to st.annes off the gallowgate.
that's his inspiration lady's and gentleman
Fair play, he gave it a good go!
Holy crap I get chills every time Adrian says "Win Win." And the bells start and then the dramatic trumpet begins such an amazing scene 👏 👌
What makes it even all the more triumphant is that we just watched 10 straight minutes of pure depression
If anyone is watching this for motivation, just know if you keep pushing yourself you’ll get there soon
Thank you. I really needed that just now.
This is the most emotional and inspiring scene in all movies!!!
Especially the scene at the top of the steps of independence hall
It's the kid that tries to keep up shouting 'Go go go!' Gets me every time... he's doing this for a better life for his wife and family. There's no greater motivation than that. (Yeah, I'm 50 now, wife and two kids, went to the wall for them too.)
I agree with you so very much. It's that very point that moves me to tears. I love it!!!
Then God bless you, man. I have three kids. It's all worth it.
That was very genius of you. Hearing that "go go go!" with the music building up gives me goosebumps every time. Well done!
Favorite part is the face Rocky makes when Adrian tells him to win. It’s the best part of the whole movie.
That part there...ive always said if any man's wife can motivate like that nothing would stop em
I love this training montage. Its incredible while being its own montage it finds away to pay tribute yet to rival the first one. In the first montage it's gleeful, cheery, upbeat and feels fun. Mickey is the greatest trainer. It's like if you missed a workout he would kick your ass.
But then Mickey shows his tender side by staying with and supporting Rocky while Adrian is in a coma.
They could take care of the armed forces by putting them in this training schedule!!!
I need me a trainer like mickey
Agree, Burgess Meridith was super as Mickey!
YES!!!
This workout montage is probably the most awe inspiring scene in movie cinema history and I've seen many movies in my day! Rocky doing those one handed push ups at the crack of dawn, if that doesn't give you goosebumps!

The Rocky 4 montage is a close second
" What are we waiting for". Best line and scene in the whole franchise
6:14 - And so begins one of the greatest scenes in cinema history.
No, it started at 3:16 when Adrian (Rocky's love and primary motivation in life) told him to "win".
@@virtualviking8447 that music changed my life
I can never get enough of this film series. Outstanding storytelling, acting, direction, & dialogue.
Rocky's bond with Mickey became stronger than ever when Mickey stayed right by Rocky's side through Adrian's coma.

Honestly I think this was the best Rocky movie

I totally agree. I loved this one.
My fave "Rocky " movie. He realizes he has to win for Adrian & their Son. When the kids sing the chorus😍
A perfect acting by Burgess Meredith.. he was really awesome actor.
I love the speech Mickey gives in the chapel. Has to be the most inspiring speech ever in movies!
What's can't?! There ain't no can't!! There's no can't!!

just for the record when I was about 21 in the military I ran up those very stairs in Philly.. brings back memories Rocky is the greatest!
this scene, and the one where he is crying at the end after winning, "Yo Adrian.. I did it!" always gets me choked up every single time
Mickey was awesome! He and Mr. Miyagi are the same! Both will be missed, but never forgotten. 😎👊❤
They hold the all-important mentor/teacher role in the Hero's Journey. Without the right teacher, the Hero will remain lost.
🙌
Both from John G Avilsen movies
@@GABRIELA-ACEVEDO.
That’s right!! He made Lean on Me, too.
Another excellent movie.
The amount of running he does is actually incredible. His stamina was greater then apollos which is what helped him win.

Burgess acted his ass off in the chapel scene. That's the reflection of a father-son relationship right there
Training montages don't get more uplifting than this !!
Can somebody please explain to me that when I watch the training montages I get tears in my eyes?
because you're human bro, there'd be something wrong with you if you didn't get teary eyed

Best part is Mick coming alive when she says win "WHAT ARE WE WAITIN FOR"
This training montage is one of the best one of all I watch it all the time when I work out
Greatest montage in history of movies...followed by Karate Kid...

Bill Conti, you're an otherworldly genius!
This montage really captured sly Stallones vision of rocky, not just as an individual underdog, but representing the entire city of Philadelphia, which had a really bad run during the 70s and 80s.
Rocky Rocky Rocky. Rocky 2 is just so great!
The music by Bill Conti mixed with the training is what makes this scene
When Adrian tells Rocky Win!! I want to run thru a wall! One of best lines ever. So simple but so powerful
Thought I liked the rocky 4 training montage better but this one definitely tops it
