It's so nice to see some men's fashion history. Thank you for this. It's unfortunately *Very* difficult to locate on UA-cam, really any menswear prior to 1920, and even the 1900 to 1950s videos are slim pickings.
Love the ”ooo silk!” comment when the braces were shown close up. Fantastic video and it is great to see men's clothing. Makes you wish that we still dressed this way.
I'd love to see more videos like this! I feel like there's such a gap when it comes to male historical fashion and breeches and waistcoats are just as interesting as dresses and corsets.
I love men's Regency fashion! It's probably my favorite period for men's clothes. There's just something about it that doesn't seem to be there for later eras, especially once you get into the 20th Century.
I really appreciate it being written out. My hearing has gotten so bad I miss a lot when things are narrated. Including both should make everyone happy.
So lovely to see/hear Lucas as well! I admit, watching all your button woes has convinced me to use decorative buttons and hidden snaps/hooks and eyes for all my future projects x_X I would love to see more content regarding menswear, if time (and fancy) allows for that!
I see so much about women's attire on youtube but the rare gentleman's attire video is indeed a treat. :) Well done, very charming. I wish I had an outfit like this for myself haha
I need more videos showcasing mens fashion like this, there are so many gorgeous garments but they're rarely showcased and explained in detail. He does indeed look dashing!
OH MY GOD I was looking for resources on male regency dress just last night! I was sad that you didn't have a video on it but here we are! THANK YOU!!!
Oh, who would mind the former style of voice-over when we have a new Prior Attire video to love!!! And besides, it's still lovely :D thank you for this! It's wonderful!!
LOL, he started speaking and I had to pause and grab my daughter (who loves your videos too). It's fun listening to this with shared headphones hehe :D And dear sir, your wife does not lie. You are dashing in your lovely outfit. :)
Lucas had me roaring throughout with his button shenanigans and, “Ooooooh, close up! SILK!” Lucas, I feel you. I miss a few buttons or snaps whenever I put on my riding gear. 🤣 Why so many damned buttons?!
This was very cool. What’s interesting is that fashion keeps coming back around. His shirt looks like the shirts Prince was famous for in the 80’s (I think it was called a poet’s blouse...correct me if I’m wrong). It looked almost identical. I guess in a few more decades it will come back again! 😂
i could learn a thing or two from a regency gentleman - as i have some experience with (faux) leather pants, i was wondering how they would stay comfortable in them - of course! wear something underneath to keep the leather away from your skin! can’t believe i never thought of that. tights would work well. i also loved lucas’ narration, you’re both so cute.
I love these sorts of videos 💖💖💖 and yes, looking very dash in both outerwear 👍 I love seeing the men's garments for a change from the women's (which are gorgeous but much more common) and I highly enjoyed the voice over and stifledfled giggles in the background
I love this, I would like this to be my dress for every day. I would look so smart this way. And I love buttons and natural fabrics . The leather pants are exceptionally nice.
Now can we get a video on riding attire for both? I see that it's very similar to everyday wear for gentlemen but I do so love to see habits through the ages!
The Banyan is wonderful! I have that exact same reproduction floral fabric! So pretty. I bought mine in Colonial Williamsburg. Yes, I'm an American and live in northern Ohio which is an almost 10 hour drive from Colonial Williamsburg. I love your videos! I know how long it takes to sew garments like this because I also sew.
I read a description of a "very fashionable beau" taking THREE HOURS to dress ... a large part was spent on the tightly fitting gloves, which he ripped a pair in the process of trying to pull them on. A lot of the time was probably spent on musing which thing would fit well with which other thing ... according to that day's mood.
I am not sure if you read my mind from all the way over there or what. I was just thinking not but yesterday that I would love to see a regency gent, or even a late Georgian era gent. This was wonderful. Men have it so easy getting dressed
So many channels never have any kind of captions or texts, not even the auto-generated kind. It makes things tough for the Deaf/HoH community. The older style here is great for following along if you have any kind of audio processing issues.
I find the narration and text together very helpful and hoped it was coming back, but it's just old school, alas. Just the same, great video -- and I'm always happy for new content here, in whatever form it arrives :)
@@aprillen Yep, I know -- but it's a just-released video they made before changing to the new voiceover format. I preferred having the text too, but enjoy all their content just the same.
@@folioio I don't understand. You commented on this video, which does have both narration and text. All of the recent "dressing up" videos lately have both, except for the one about the servant outfit. I don't understand what you mean about "new format" and "old school". Maybe I'm missing something here.
Woe to those that leave the buttonhook in the glovebox of the velocepede/horseless carriage. Hail the generous that prevent the many indignities that can arise from such undertakings, parting can lead to such sweet sorrow.
Looking forward to Dressing up as Edwardian Gentleman as well!
Not happening
@@priorattire Sad to hear, your work and videos are always a huge inspiration.
Edwardian is just a f... boring suit, meh
AYYYYYYY Lucas is narrating I'm so here for this!! you two are too cute

Your hubby has such an elegant voice.
(Also I love how he keeps the jokes about the buttons).

I'm having flashbacks from Lucy Worsley's Regency documentary. She also dresses up as a Regency gentleman.
Any more Lucy Worsley's fans around?
As dashing as that bloke who owns Pemberley - Mr Darcy, I believe ;)
Wonderful. We need more costuming videos featuring gentlemen. I love to see well dressed men.
I'm doing a study for costume designs for some characters and seeing what undergarments people wore as undergarments is extremely helpful
Lucas certainly cleans up well :)
Very nicely done.
Fantastic narration. You have a real knack of sounding engaging and interesting!
Hahah i see the button struggles are an universal experience 😂
Why do I feel like I'm peeping on Mr. Darcy?
Damn buttons! Good laugh! I love the way he says "Prior Attire".
I see so much about women's attire on youtube but the rare gentleman's attire video is indeed a treat. :) Well done, very charming. I wish I had an outfit like this for myself haha

Your guest narrator did a wonderful job.

I’m a female interested by 1890s fashion, but why do I love this so much 😂
Ok this is adorable. You two are goals!! My husband just kind of smiles when I go off on historical costuming tangents
"Oooh silk." Just as charming as your wife!
You and your husband seem so good for each other! What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Gorgeous! I love the narration.
Aaah this video made me smile so much! Lucas truly is a perfect match to Izabela in every way!
I loved this video! Especially Lucas' narration, we'll done! 👏🙂
its a really lovely thing to see a Gentleman dress even with all those buttons.
Ooh I love his voice!
Lucas had me roaring throughout with his button shenanigans and, “Ooooooh, close up! SILK!” Lucas, I feel you. I miss a few buttons or snaps whenever I put on my riding gear. 🤣 Why so many damned buttons?!
Aaaand with that, I'm off to pop in Pride and Prejudice!

I think those pants are made from chamois, a quite comfortable type of leather.
Faux leather would boil you.... natural leather breathes
“And may I introduce Mr. Darcy of Pemberley and Derbyshire.”

Fantastic! And wonderful timing, literally last night (it's morning here) I was looking to see if you'd done a regency gent!

This is so cute and funny! Do this again!
Izabela dresses you so well, Lucas. Very dashing!
Dashing video, Lucas!! Great direction by Izabela too!!
Buttons! And so lovely to see a gentleman's routine this time. ❤❤❤
A veritable Mr. Darcy
You'll have to teach him how to keep the shirt sleeve ends in hands while shoving his arms into the coat sleeves!
Leather breeches how wonderful😁👏💚
Such a handsome era for clothes..... Very dashing 😍
Love the banyan! Always wanted to make one so I could cosplay as Dr. Maturin in Master and Commander:)
I always wondered what "pelerines" were called! Yay! Now, I know. Thanks. Another great video.
Such a dashing outfit for a gentleman!
Regency is one of my fav's
Very dapper !
I feel like even his voice came from that era 😂😂 thanks dear this is great video 👌
Love the humor! (buttons!)
Your gentleman friend is looking rather well. Lovely work!
Stupendously constructed, shown and comfortable attires, as far as we can see. Congratulations Prior Attire!
He looks great! My fave is actually the banyan. Love that garment!!
I'd wear the heck out of that!
Just gorgeus! Thank you Mr Lucas. Greetings from Italy!
ALL THE BUTTONS! 😂
Thank you for showing us gentlemen wear too 🤗
Love the guest speaker!
Dashing!
Thanks for sharing, always so dapper.
I found your channel just today, and I am hooked!!
Haha I loved this; thank you for sharing! The Regency is my favorite era, so anything you're inclined to share is much appreciated
i'v always loved this type of riding coat i had one as a kid and was very sad when i got to big for it.
Last time I was this early, Prinny was still friends with Brummell.
Well, the who's your fat friend statement soon put an end to that friendship
I read a description of a "very fashionable beau" taking THREE HOURS to dress ... a large part was spent on the tightly fitting gloves, which he ripped a pair in the process of trying to pull them on. A lot of the time was probably spent on musing which thing would fit well with which other thing ... according to that day's mood.
Look up Beau Brummell if you get the time. I believe he's the gentleman you're thinking of.
Very nice indeed!

It would be great to see the gentleman's version of clothes for nobility, merchant, and laborer during the time of King Henry VIII.
There is a late Medieval man video already posted. Look in the Dressing Up playlist
Thank You for sharing. I fully enjoy your content. 👍
Wool, silk & superfine cotton. Splendid!
this soooo adorable, this videos make me smile
It’s so nice of you to vocalize text! Thank you for video

What a lovely couple.

@@priorattire Thanks, that's good to know!
Very handsome, well done.
Pray, where may I find a fine stovepipe just like yours? 'Tis quite a hat!
Wonderful video and... writtings ! Thank you so much
Stunning outfit!
Fantastic. Love it.
Absolutely love this.

Love the commentary!
Magnificent video. Thanks for sharing
It really is such a great look for men. Handsome!
Just as enjoyable to watch as your lovely lady. The couple picture say the end is very nice.
GASP! It's a good thing you were there to rescue him from his suspenders folly
Wonderful, thank you. I shall have to add the exclamation mark to silk(!) from now on.
I love recency era fashion!
Oh yes! Very dashing! Loved it! ❤️❤️
Love seeing men’s clothing!
