    This video is part of quite a few videos that I have on UA-cam showing how I
    installed a new roof on my 1992 Terry travel trailer camper RV. This installment shows me putting in or on the new gasket that you can purchase at Amazon using the link that I have provided in the description on to my old AC unit during the reinstall after we put in a new roof. so enjoy.

    Hi there! Thank you for the video! Can you please explain how the face of the control gets attached to the AC? Does it need to be wired in? We are getting hung up on that part...
    Thank you!!

      Briana Dunning the lower part of the assembly (the part that is metal and has the controls) gets wired to the electrical lines..

    I got an auto-fan switch kit from airswitchrv for mine when I changed ACs so the fan cycles with the cooling now which is nice since the fan is so noisy.

    Thank you for this great vid!
    Not sure if you remember, as it seems this vid is a few years old ~ but what did you use to clean off the old gasket residue?

      I had replaced the roof so there was nothing there but on the ac unit i used carb cleaner and a brass brush..

    From what I researched here I find that the hole is only 14 inches all around square my hole 22 7/8

    @davidcantu8607 6 років тому

    I have an existing hole that is 22 7/8 it is actually the fire escape hole can or do they make an a/c unit to fit that size of a hole. Can anyone help answer

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  6 років тому

      David Cantu some of the newer AC units have a flexible duct that may allow that smaller hole to be utilized just fine. You may want to call Dometic

    No one says to stick the gasket to the roof exactly where the old one was except the mfg, I may have missed it. The stuck gasket on the roof creates a little dam for water. If you stick it to the unit, the water can work it's way in over time.

      Not if the gasket is compressed correctly.. Plus the A/C Mounts need to be adjusted over time to keep the gasket compressed as needed due to age... the adhesive that they use on the gasket is so weak so that it is easily removed and is not suitable for making a permanent connection to the roof. It is the type of adhesive that needs to go on to clean smooth surfaces. The rubber roof does not offer that type of surface.

      @@Foxboss9 what I wrote comes from following the mfg install directions. It's up to everyone to follow or not.

    • @Foxboss9
      @Foxboss9  6 років тому

      check with Coleman or Dometic for hole size requirements... I believe my gasket was 24 x 24 but I don't know for sure..
